Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the key competencies of the 21st century in facing complex and dynamic real-life challenges. This study examines the effect of the Creative Problem Solving Model assisted by fraction puzzle media on mathematical problem-solving abilities. This research was conducted at MI Jauharotul Huda in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The method used was a quasi-experimental study with a posttest-only control Group Design. The sample was taken using the Random Sampling technique, with class VA students as the experimental group and class VB students as the control group. The test given was in the form of 10 essay questions. Based on the results of the t-test calculation using the Independent Sample t-test method on the post-test of both classes, the results obtained p = 0.000, so H₀ was rejected, and H₁ was accepted. The average score for problem-solving abilities in the experimental class was 64.38, while in the control class, it was 49.92. This result shows that the Creative problem-solving model assisted by fraction puzzle media significantly improves students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Based on the results of this study, teachers can consider implementing the Creative Problem Solving model assisted by concrete media, such as fraction puzzles, as an effective learning model to improve mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study focuses on the low availability of integrated teaching materials with the STEAM approach and Papuan local wisdom content in science learning. The purpose of the study was to produce a product in the form of a student worksheet with a STEAM approach, containing local Papuan flora in science learning, to determine the feasibility of a student worksheet with a STEAM approach containing local Papuan flora, and to determine the responses of teachers and students to the student worksheet. The researcher used the 4D model research and development (R&D) method with four stages, including 1) define, 2) design, 3) develop, and 4) disseminate. The validation results by material experts showed that the student worksheet, with a STEAM approach containing local Papuan flora, got an average score of 89% in the category (Very Valid). The validation results by media experts showed an average score of 92% in the category (Very Valid). The results of the field practitioner trial showed a value of 92%, which was included in the category (Very Practical). In comparison, the results of the group and field tests reached 88% in the category (Very Practical). Thus, the developed student worksheet has proven valid and practical for science learning. It is hoped that developing this student worksheet can strengthen students' understanding of science material and increase interest in learning through connections with the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The increasing mental health disorders in students in Indonesia are currently a serious concern in the world of education, so effective strategies or handling are needed, one of which is through the implementation of a positive culture in schools. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a positive culture in maintaining students' mental health in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative research method with data collection techniques through interviews, documentation, and observation. The research data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The subjects in this study were the school headmaster, five teachers, and twelve students representing grades 1 to 6. The results of the study indicate that implementing a positive culture program needs to pay attention to supporting factors for implementing a positive culture, such as the mental health conditions of students and the impact of implementing a positive culture in schools. The implications of the study indicate that the implementation of a positive culture in schools can create a conducive learning environment, maintain emotional stability, reduce anxiety, and form positive character in students.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Quran reading ability of fifth-grade students from Islamic and public elementary schools in West Bandung Regency. A total of 104 students participated, including 33 from MI Ar-Ridhwan, 15 from MI Darussyifa Al-Musri' 1, 26 from SD Karangtanjung 2, and 30 from SD Pasir Banteng. Using a quantitative ex post facto design, the study examined the effects of school type and gender on Quran reading ability without direct intervention. The sample was selected through cluster probability sampling to ensure representation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including Two-Way ANOVA. Results showed a significant difference in Quran reading ability between students in Islamic and public schools, with MI students performing better. However, no significant gender-based differences were found. The findings highlight the impact of school context on religious learning outcomes, suggesting that the MI curriculum and pedagogy more effectively support Quran literacy. The study contributes to educational theory and underscores the need for enhanced Quran instruction in public schools through improved teaching methods and targeted teacher training.

Abstract

English learning outcomes in elementary school tend to be low because this subject has just been reintroduced into the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Simple Present Tense Cubes in improving English learning outcomes in elementary school. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in Grade III at Pamitran Public Elementary School, Cirebon City, with 26 students. The data analysis was conducted using quantitative descriptive analysis based on the N-Gain test, normality test, and paired sample t-test results from the pretest and posttest in Cycle I and Cycle II. Each Cycle represents a separate iteration of the instructional intervention. The results indicate that the N-Gain test scores for Cycle I and II were 0.5538 and 0.6201, respectively, placing the learning improvement in the medium category. The paired sample t-test results for both cycles were < 0.001, less than 0.05, confirming a significant difference. These findings demonstrate that the use of Simple Present Tense Cubes is effective in improving English learning outcomes. The results of this study are anticipated to provide a reference for teachers in choosing effective learning media for English lesson.

Abstract

Improving student learning outcomes and motivation is a central focus in developing effective instructional models. This study compares the effects of the Think Talk Write (TTW) and Expository models on science learning outcomes, viewed from students' learning motivation levels. The research aims to: (1) determine the effect of learning motivation on science learning outcomes; (2) determine the effect of learning models (TTW and Expository) on science learning outcomes; and (3) examine the interaction between learning motivation and instructional models on students' science learning outcomes. Using a quantitative experimental design involving 64 students in Simalungun Regency, data were collected through tests and questionnaires and analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA. The analysis revealed that learning motivation significantly influenced outcomes (F = 3.188; p = 0.049; η² = 0.099), the learning model had a stronger effect (F = 11.587; p = 0.001; η² = 0.167), and there was a significant interaction between the model and motivation (F = 3.707; p = 0.031; η² = 0.113). The model accounted for 41.8% of the variance in learning outcomes (R² = 0.418). These findings highlight that aligning teaching models with students’ motivation levels especially through TTW enhances the effectiveness of science learning through active engagement and deeper conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model integrated with Nearpod media in enhancing elementary students’ cultural and citizenship literacy. The research involved 60 students from two public elementary schools using a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The results showed an increase in students’ average scores from 59.5 (pre-test) to 83.5 (post-test), with a t-test significance value of 0.01 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant improvement. Each literacy indicator cultural understanding, civic awareness, responsibility, and participation demonstrated consistent growth throughout each stage of the RADEC model. The learning process, supported by interactive Nearpod features such as quizzes, polls, collaboration boards, and digital projects, encouraged students to actively engage, internalize cultural and citizenship values, and express their understanding creatively. Observation results showed an average implementation rate of 85.41%, categorized as “very good.” These findings confirm that integrating the RADEC model with Nearpod media not only improves student learning outcomes but also fosters meaningful engagement with cultural and civic issues, making it a valuable approach for broader educational application.
