Abstract

The increasing number of organic agricultural production and public awareness toward healthy living provide the opportunities in trading for the products itself. Meanwhile, the development of information technology produces innovation such as electronic commerce (e-commerce), and in agribusiness, it is known as e-agribusiness. E-agribusiness allows organic groceries trade activities to be conducted online through a website. However, that is a new and rare activity in Indonesia, therefore the management of company needs to develop the strategy to enhance the customers and survive in the industry. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors influencing organic fruit and vegetable purchase intention through a website based on technology perspective and consumer behavior. WebQual and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) were used in this study. This study was conducted on website of Sayur Box, one of e-agribusiness in Indonesia. Face-to-face survey technique was used to collect the data from 113 respondents. PLS-SEM was used for data analysis. The result shows that online purchase intention is affected by attitude and perceived behavioral control. All of WebQual’s instruments that used in this study affect user satisfaction toward the website except for the usefulness variable. User satisfaction toward the website has an indirect effect on online purchase intention through attitude variable.Keywords: e-agribusiness, online purchase intention, structural equation modeling, theory of planned behavior, website quality

Abstract

This research specifically analyzed the market integration and transmission of Indonesian palm oil prices in the world vegetable oil market. The analysis using the Threshold Vector Error Correction Model approach was based on time series on the palm oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil and sunflower oil prices for the period of January 2004 to June 2017. The findings proved the existence of market integration and transmission of asymmetric prices marked by price increases transmitted more quickly among the vegetable oil markets in the long run. The main findings of this research indicated that there was an intense competition between the vegetable oil market and the price of Indonesian palm oil which still followed the rising price of Malaysian palm oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil prices, but it was still the leader in the movement of sunflower oil prices. However, the long-term period of soybean oil prices followed a decline in the price of Indonesian palm oil. The results of this research imply that Indonesian palm oil has the opportunity to strengthen its position in the world vegetable oil market by developing futures exchanges that are supported by the adequate physical trading market infrastructure so that it can become the center of formation and reference for world palm oil prices.

Abstract

The demand of palm oil products from export destination countries is still recorded to have a high growth. The prospect of world vegetable oil consumption need especially for palm oil that keeps rising gives an opportunity for Indonesia to increase its palm oil production. This research was conducted to observe how far oil palm plantation companies have conducted ISPO through Business Sustainability Typology perspective. This research made use of descriptive quantitative method. The data processing and analysis technique used in this research was descriptive quantitative analysis through Analytical Network Process (ANP) approach by using Super Decisions 2.2 software. Based on the processing result, the three companies were close to Sustainability version 3.0 but have not been perfect. Based on the average calculation of the three companies, the first priority composition from these companies is profit aspect consisting of permit and management system, implementations of oil palm processing guidelines and cultivation guidelines. In addition, it is the people aspect comprising responsibility to workers, community development, and social and community responsibility, and lastly the planet aspect of environmental management and monitoring. Managerial implications include developing and generating renewable energy by processing palm liquid waste (POME) to produce biogas as energy. They also include encouraging and supporting communities in various areas of development and utilization with a sustainable economy and holding a pollution tax that is included as a licensing fee, establishing standards for processing waste and subsidies related to business developmentKeywords: business sustainability typology, palm oil, ANP, sustainability, oil palm plantation companies

Abstract

There has been an increase in demand for organic products in Indonesia along with the incessant slogan of healthy living. In terms of small farmers, organic farming is proven to provide increased income, unfortunately, there is no clear system and strategy in developing organic agriculture in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to understand the role of key stakeholders in Cisarua Horticulture Organic Farming. Stakeholder analysis used in this research to get knowledge about the actors, their behavior, relationships and their influence on decision - making processes. The information is used to develop the farm strategies, to reach the farm goals and to assess the feasibility of policy directions. The methodology used is the Soft System Methodology (SSM). SSM is an organizational process modeling method that can be used for general problem resolution and change management. Rich picture, Root definitions, and conceptual model were presented in the paper. Data were taken using focus group discussion and in-depth interviews with the farm staffs, farmers of the sustainable horticulture organic farming farm in Cisarua, Indonesia, and national organic farming association. From Stakeholders analysis, four main results were obtained: identifying the relationship among stakeholders; conflicts among them; the stakeholders’ role in farm; and the stakeholders’ interest towards farm program. In conclusion; focusing on one hauler only, investing in seed horticulture products, improving the quality of horticulture products, and mentoring for small-scale farmers were identified as a critical action for the strategy in the organic farming farm in Cisarua, Indonesia. The policy implications of this research are basically to see the contribution of actors in making a strategy.

Abstract

The level of coffee consumption is on a raging level, making the coffee shop business is also increasingly emerging in the form of both local coffee shops and international coffee shops. Coffee Corner is the first coffee shop in Langsa city that combines traditional and modern aspects in its presentation. To ensure business continuity, Kedai Coffee Corner has to create a strategy so that it can boost their customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing experience that can be formed through five dimensions of sense, feel, think, act and relate. This study aims to analyze the influence of experiential marketing on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Corner coffee shop customers of which criteria is above than 17 years old and willing to be respondents are taken and as many as 180 respondents are selected using accidental sampling technique, then the respondents fill out a questionnaire that contains a statement about the variables studied so that the data obtained will then be processed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The result of the research shows that experiential marketing has a significant effect on customer satisfaction and loyalty either directly or indirectly. Experiential marketing is reflected by two dimensions that have the greatest contribution and those are sense and relate. Better quality and aroma of the coffee, as well as superiority in fragrant than other coffee shops, is the indicator that contributes the most to the sensory dimension. An excellent coffee image and quality of the presentation are the indicators that contribute the most to the relative dimension.

Abstract

A number of studies stated that nanotechnology is predicted to encourage the third wave of research diffusion, development, and advancement in agricultural and food sectors, as an integrated part of the nanotechnology revolution in various fields. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media on perceived risk and willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The data came from an online questionnaire with 302 people collected by an online survey, and the research used a purposive sampling method, and structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. Based on the result of the research on three variables (nanotechnology knowledge, trust, and communication media), it is known that communication media and trust had significant effects on risk perception; however, nanotechnology knowledge had no significant effect. Furthermore, perceived risk had a significant effect on willingness to buy food nanotechnology. The sequence from the largest to the smallest of willingness to buy is functional food with a health benefit, food packaging, and food additive to improved product quality. Functional food has been chosen because there is an additional health benefit they will get. Meanwhile, food packaging was considered less risky as it did not directly contact with the product and was not digested by the body. Food additives to improve product quality was the lowest since the respondents felt they did not get any benefits from the application.

Abstract

Oil palm plantation is well known as a profitable business. In general, oil palm smallholders have a higher income than farmers of other commodities. However, most smallholdings have land sizes that do not reach the economic scale. Together with the lack of managerial skills, smallholdings are likely to be more vulnerable to production and price fluctuations, which in turn affects their business sustainability. This study was conducted to analyze the possibility and impact of production and price changes to the oil palm smallholdings’ sustainability. Data were collected from 240 schemed and independent smallholders in Asahan, Labuhan Batu, Labuhan Batu Utara and Labuhan Batu Selatan, which were selected with purposive cluster sampling. The production and market risk possibility and impact were measured with Value at Risk Method. The estimations showed that smallholders had a low risk possibility and impact, which partly stemmed from the enormously low threshold of both production and market risks. In fact, on average, smallholders’ productivity is less than 20% of the potentials, and many schemed smallholders receive low prices due to their aged trees. This may be harmful to smallholding sustainability. Since VaR only considers risks from variations of production and price, a low threshold is not considered as a risk for sustainability.  Therefore, further studies using different thresholds or approaches are required. From the policy implication point of view, to address such a situation, the Indonesian government needs to improve smallholdings’ productivity and their composition of trees.

Abstract

In the Indonesia coffee premature market, it is important to confirm whether the futures market has interdependence with the spot market. Moreover, as the world’s largest coffee producers after Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia, it is also important to examine the interdependence between Indonesia markets with the offshore futures market whose prices are used uses for local price determination. This study examined the granger causality relationship between Indonesia’s futures and spot market, and granger relationship between Indonesia and the offshore futures market using data of daily Arabica and Robusta coffee prices starting from January 2014 to June 2018. The test indicated that the futures market has a stronger ability to predict the spot market; therefore, price discovery in the futures market. Bidirectional causality relationship between Arabica offshore futures and spot market indicates market demand on Arabica coffee. In general, it’s identified unidirectional granger causality relationship between local and offshore futures market with information flows from the local futures market reflects the offshore market high expectation toward crop information during harvesting period both Arabica and Robusta. This is due to the importance of Indonesia’s coffee crop report to world aggregate coffee production.

Abstract

As the trend of online business shopping began to develop it is necessary to have a number of factors anticipated, among others, fresh vegetables/fruit online repurchase intention. The aim of this study is to explain the determinant which influences repurchase intention of customer who buys fruits and vegetables by using e-commerce in Indonesia. Stimulus-Organism-Response Model are used as the basic concepts in this study. The sample collection methods in this study is convenience sampling from 331 respondents who met the criteria. Collected data is analysed using Structural Equation Model (SEM) Lisrel 8.8 and SPSS 24.0 program for all variables. The result of the findings show that there is a significant influence between emotion and risk perceived towards online repurchase intention, and perceived risk give a negative impact to online repurchase intention and emotion. The reputation of e-retailers has no significant effect on perceived risk. Perceived risk has a significant influence on emotion and online repurchase intentions.This study found that emotion significantly influences willingness to online repurchase intention toward fresh vegetables/fruits in Indonesian’s e-shopper. This study will be useful to vegetables and fruits e-retailers as well as future researchers.Keywords: online repurchase intention, e-commerce, stimulus-organism-response model, reputation, emotion, perceived risk

Abstract

Palm oil commodity is still one of the largest foreign exchange contributors to the Indonesian states and remains as an attractive industry. In 2016, Indonesia was the main exporter of CPO with the highest production volume in the world. Palm oil issuers face business challenges from external and internal factors. This research was conducted to analyze whether the stock price of oil palm issuer in Indonesia was influenced by macroeconomic variables (crude oil price, exchange rate, inflation, and interest rate) and financial performance variables (DER, ROA, ROE, EPS, and AUR). This is important because if the macroeconomic variables and financial performance of the company have an impact on the company's performance reflected in the stock price movement of the issuer, this will be an important consideration for investors to take decisions. The results of this research using panel data regression (2010-2016 with quarter data) indicated that only one macroeconomic variable of Exchange Rate that had a negative significant effect on the price of palm oil stock while the financial performance variables in this research affecting the palm oil stock price significantly were DER, ROA, ROE, EPS, EPS t-1, and Stock Price t-1. All variables used in this research can represent the influence of the stock price of palm oil by 99.21%.
