Abstract

This study addresses the critical issue of differential settlement and long-term fracture prevention in building foundations. Mistakes in designing strip and column foundations on natural soil often lead to cracks due to uneven settlements, as traditional methods prioritize matching foundation base pressure to soil bearing resistance, often neglecting settlement calculations. This research highlights the importance of incorporating settlement analysis into foundation design. A comparative review of existing methods and field data reveals significant disparities between standard design approaches and those considering settlement. Findings show that foundations designed with consistent settlement criteria exhibit better structural strength and reduced crack formation. The study underscores the need for a fundamental shift in foundation design procedures to include settlement analysis, ensuring the long-term durability and safety of buildings. Highlights: Traditional foundation design often neglects settlement calculations, leading to structural issues. Incorporating settlement analysis results in stronger, more durable foundations. Comparative review highlights the need for updated design procedures to prevent cracks. Keywords: Foundation Design, Settlement Analysis, Structural Strength, Differential Settlement, Crack Prevention

Abstract

Background: Hospitalization rate determination is crucial for healthcare cost management, yet traditional methods often lead to cost distortions. Specific Background: Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital has historically utilized conventional costing methods, which have resulted in higher than necessary charges for hospital services. Knowledge Gap: There is limited research comparing traditional costing methods with more accurate and modern approaches like Activity Based Costing (ABC) in the Indonesian healthcare context. Aim: This study aims to compare hospitalization rates at Muhammadiyah Tuban Hospital using traditional methods and the ABC method, to highlight discrepancies and propose a more accurate costing framework. Results: The ABC method yielded significantly lower hospitalization rates across various classes (VIP, Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3) compared to traditional methods. For instance, the ABC rate for the VIP class was IDR 270,619, compared to IDR 495,000 set by traditional methods. Novelty: This study introduces the application of ABC in an Indonesian hospital setting, providing a clear contrast in cost-efficiency against traditional costing. Implications: The findings suggest that adopting the ABC method can lead to more precise and lower hospitalization rates, potentially reducing healthcare costs for patients and improving financial management within hospitals.Highlights: Cost Accuracy: ABC method offers more precise hospitalization rates than traditional methods. Economic Impact: Adoption of ABC can lower patient costs and improve hospital financial management. Innovation: Introduces a modern costing method to Indonesian healthcare, suggesting a shift from outdated practices. Abstract

Learning media play a crucial role in enhancing the student learning process, with various types of media being employed to engage students and facilitate better understanding. Posters are one such medium that can significantly enhance students' attention and interest during learning sessions. However, traditional posters often lack elements that make them interactive and engaging enough to substantially impact speaking skills and teamwork. This study aims to introduce and evaluate the effectiveness of a novel learning medium, known as Luth-Badila’s Learning Time, which utilizes uniquely designed 3D posters incorporating subject materials, quizzes, and a rotating clock embedded in a robot's head to attract students' attention and improve their speaking skills and teamwork. The implementation of Luth-Badila’s Learning Time in classrooms has shown promising results, with a noticeable increase in student engagement, improved speaking skills, and enhanced teamwork. The novelty of this learning medium lies in its interactive 3D design and the integration of multiple educational elements into a single poster, which is a significant departure from traditional 2D posters. The findings suggest that incorporating such innovative and interactive learning media in educational settings can lead to better student outcomes, particularly in terms of speaking skills and collaborative abilities. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing evidence of the benefits of using advanced, interactive posters in educational contexts, thereby encouraging educators to adopt similar approaches to enhance learning experiences. Highlights: Innovative Design: Luth-Badila’s Learning Time uses 3D posters with quizzes and a rotating clock to captivate students. Improved Skills: This medium significantly boosts speaking skills and teamwork among students. Educational Impact: Interactive posters lead to higher student engagement and better learning outcomes. Abstract

General background: Innovation is crucial for civil servants (ASN) to adapt and enhance organizational productivity. Specific background: Innovative work behavior (IWB) is essential for optimal performance, yet research often overlooks internal factors like psychological capital (PsyCap). Knowledge gap: The detailed role of PsyCap in influencing IWB, with mediators such as Employee Engagement (EE) and Job Crafting (JC), is underexplored. Aims: This study investigates the impact of PsyCap on IWB, with EE and JC as mediators, using SEM-PLS. Results: Data from 152 millennial ASNs in North Maluku show that 1) PsyCap significantly affects IWB, 2) PsyCap positively influences EE and JC, 3) EE significantly impacts IWB, while JC does not, and 4) EE partially mediates PsyCap and IWB. Novelty: Highlights the key role of EE in promoting IWB. Implications: Recommends enhancing PsyCap and EE through training and a positive organizational culture. Highlights: PsyCap significantly influences innovative work behavior among ASNs. Employee engagement acts as a partial mediator between PsyCap and IWB. Job crafting does not directly impact IWB in this study's context. Keywords: Employee Engagement, Job Crafting, Innovative Work Behavior, Millennial Staff, Psychological Capital

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a major exporter of virgin coconut oil (VCO), but global demand surpasses production. Optimizing extraction processes is crucial. Knowledge gap: While various extraction methods exist, the effect of specific parameters on VCO quality and yield needs systematic analysis. Aim: This review evaluates extraction methods to optimize VCO production, focusing on enzymatic and microbial fermentation. Results: From eight articles, enzymatic fermentation using alcalase at 60°C for 1.5 hours produced high-quality VCO (free fatty acids 0.19%, water content 0.04%, peroxide value 8.28 meq/kg) with the highest yield (98.25%). Microbial fermentation, though longer, also yielded good quality. Novelty: Alcalase enzymatic fermentation is more efficient than microbial methods. Implications: These findings can guide industrial optimization of VCO production to meet SNI 7381:2022 standards. Highlights: Enzymatic fermentation with alcalase at 60°C for 1.5 hours yields the highest VCO quality and yield. Microbial fermentation, while effective, requires longer extraction times for similar results. Optimal temperature and time significantly influence the quality and yield of VCO, meeting SNI 7381:2022 standards. Keywords: Correlation, Enzymatic, Fermentation, Temperature, Time

Abstract

Online learning is becoming very popular nowadays in higher education, this is due to the increasing use of digital technology and the internet, the need to increase student affordability. The learning network model has been developed as an effective learning design in online learning which can be the right solution for. However, currently no empirical evidence has been found regarding the role of the learning network model, especially as moderated by self-efficacy. The aim of this research is to determine the role of the learning network model and self-efficacy on the performance of informatics education students in an online learning environment. The research design used was semi-experimental with a 2x2 factor. A total of 109 informatics education students for learning evaluation subjects were then divided into two groups, namely experimental and control. The research results show that the learning network model and self-efficacy have a significant effect on student performance in the cognitive aspect, while there is no significant effect in the psychomotor aspect. Other factors This can occur because there are other factors that can support the achievement of student skills besides learning self-efficacy. Highlights: Significant Impact: The learning network model and self-efficacy significantly enhance cognitive performance in online learning environments. Limited Effect: No significant impact was found on psychomotor skills, indicating other factors influence skill development. Research Design: A semi-experimental 2x2 factor design was utilized with 109 informatics education students to assess the variables.
