Abstract

General Background Seaweed represents a vital fishery commodity with extensive applications across the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Specific Background Gracilaria verrucosa, a prominent red algae species, yields agar molecules whose functional characteristics depend heavily on extraction conditions. Knowledge Gap Standard extraction pretreatments utilizing weak acids often fail to maximize agar recovery and functional parameters from algal cell structures. Aims This study evaluates the combination of strong alkali (NaOH) and strong acid (HCl) pretreatments on the physical characteristics of Gracilaria verrucosa agar powder. Results The empirical findings demonstrate that a pretreatment using 7.5% NaOH and 0.040% HCl delivers optimal structural outcomes, recording a yield of 13.82%, gel strength reaching 1032.5 g/cm², viscosity of 18.32 cP, and reduced syneresis at 0.96%. Novelty Synergistic strong acid-base pretreatment replaces traditional weak acid steps, efficiently cleaving sulfate esters while preserving structural polysaccharide integrity. Implications These standardized parameters offer an efficient industrial approach to produce high-grade agar powder meeting commercial standard specifications. Key Findings Highlights Pretreatment with combined strong alkali and strong acid solutions significantly improves physical properties of agar powder. Increasing concentrations of sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid reduce syneresis while elevating viscosity and gel strength. Abstract

General Background: Industrial white crystal sugar manufacturing relies on precise separation techniques to secure high sucrose purity and yield. Specific Background: At PT Pabrik Gula Candi Baru Sidoarjo, the centrifugation station separates sugar crystals from surrounding molasses across various boiling grades. Knowledge Gap: However, systematic evaluations linking operational parameters of high-grade and low-grade centrifugals to specific crystal fraction recovery in continuous factory operations remain limited. Aims: This study evaluates the rotary centrifugation mechanism, processing streams for A, C, and D massecuites, and quality control steps during crystal separation. Results: The process utilizes high-grade centrifugals operating at 1,000 rpm for A and B sugars alongside low-grade centrifugals running at 2,500 rpm for D1 and D2 massecuites. Thermal control below 30°C prior to packaging prevents physical aggregation and moisture retention in the final Superior Hooft Suiker product. Novelty: This work provides an operational mapping of multi-stage centrifugation parameters directly integrated with cooling trough retention times for optimal sucrose recovery. Implications: Implementing structured centrifugal speed allocations and strict thermal boundaries offers sugar processing plants a reliable framework to preserve crystal uniformity, reduce raw material waste, and improve overall factory throughput. Key Findings Highlights High-grade centrifugals at 1,000 rpm separate A and B massecuites, whereas low-grade units at 2,500 rpm handle D-grade sugar streams. Multi-stage crystallization combined with controlled rapid cooling at 54–55°C optimizes sucrose crystal recovery from molasses. Post-separation cooling to temperatures below 30°C prior to bagging prevents sucrose degradation and crystal agglomeration. Abstract

General Background Modern agricultural machinery distribution centers face significant operational hurdles in maintaining continuous supply chains. Specific Background At the central warehouse of PT Corin Mulia Gemilang (MAXXI) in Sidoarjo, stockouts of fast-moving spare parts such as bimo oil seal rollers directly disrupt production lines and delay distribution to regional branches. Knowledge Gap Although classification systems categorize inventory movement, conventional replenishment models frequently fail to account for stochastic demand trends in agricultural machine components. Aims This study evaluates dynamic time-series modeling to forecast monthly demand for bimo oil seal roller components from August to December 2024 using historical records spanning January 2022 to July 2024. Results Application of the Box-Jenkins methodology demonstrated that data achieved variance and mean stationarity following third-order power transformations and first-order differencing, establishing ARIMA(2,1,0) as the optimal predictive structure with the lowest Mean Square Error of 73.672. Forecasted demand for the five-month horizon yields 934 units in August, 909 units in September, 887 units in October, 914 units in November, and 906 units in December 2024. Novelty The research demonstrates that time-series modeling effectively captures non-stationary, stochastic demand patterns specifically tailored to agricultural spare part warehouse logistics without relying on exogenous variables. Implications Implementing ARIMA-based forecasting enables warehouse managers to prevent inventory shortages, optimize safety stock levels, and preserve customer satisfaction across national distribution channels. Key Findings Highlights The ARIMA(2,1,0) model was identified as the optimal time-series model for predicting bimo oil seal roller requirements due to achieving the lowest Mean Square Error of 73.672. Demands for fast-moving agricultural components exhibit stochastic trend behaviors that require first-order differencing and power transformation to achieve statistical stationarity. Monthly demand projections for August through December 2024 remain relatively steady within the range of 887 to 934 units, indicating time-independent fluctuations.
