Abstract

General Background Industrial sugar manufacturing requires strict quality control across multi-stage production processes to maintain product standards and reduce waste. Specific Background PT PG Candi Baru produces white crystal sugar under standardized raw material criteria but experiences persistent product defects in its finishing operations. Knowledge Gap Detailed empirical statistical analysis connecting process-level variations to specific sugar physical defect categories remains limited in local processing plants. Aims This study evaluates process stability and identifies root causes of product defects at PT PG Candi Baru using Statistical Quality Control tools. Results Pareto analysis reveals that oversized granules ("krikilan" at 11.8%) and undersized dust particles ("debuan" at 10.3%) represent the primary quality failures, with P-chart analysis confirming process instability exceeding upper control limits. Novelty The research maps explicit causal relations between machine vacuum pressure drops, operator inconsistencies, and grain size distribution in sugar manufacturing. Implications Establishing targeted standard operating procedures and preventive machine maintenance schedules will stabilize production quality and reduce defect rates. Key Findings Highlights Oversized sugar granules ("krikilan") and fine dust ("debuan") constitute 22.1% of total production defects. Statistical P-chart analysis demonstrates that defect proportions consistently exceed established upper control limits. Fishbone analysis links quality failures primarily to low evaporator vacuum pressure and unstandardized operator practices. Abstract

General Background The food manufacturing industry relies on high operational efficiency and optimized cycle times to fulfill market demands. Specific Background PT. XYZ faces operational choices between manual tools and automated machines in its bread production line, creating tradeoffs between processing speed and cost allocations. Knowledge Gap Empirical evaluations integrating motion-study measurements with comprehensive cost structures for comparing automated and manual bread production remain limited. Aims This study evaluates cycle time, standard time, and production cost differences between manual and automated equipment using the Maynard Operation Sequence Technique and full costing. Results Automated machinery achieves a standard cycle time of 68.62 hours compared to 99.46 hours for manual tools, while total production costs reach Rp. 40,500,000 for automated systems versus Rp. 20,400,000 for manual tools. Novelty A dual-framework comparison linking predetermined motion time standards directly with full overhead cost calculations in food manufacturing. Implications Manufacturers can justify automation investments by increasing unit output to balance higher fixed capital costs through time efficiency gains. Key Findings Highlights Automated systems reduce standard production cycle time from 99.46 hours to 68.62 hours compared to manual operation. Full costing reveals total manual production cost at Rp. 20,400,000, while automated production costs Rp. 40,500,000. Machine automation increases overall production speed despite higher operational overhead investments. Abstract

General Background International standards regulate automotive cable dimensions, insulation thickness, and electrical resistance limits to guarantee safety and performance in vehicles. Specific Background In the manufacturing process at PT. Xxx, deviations in quality parameters can occur due to equipment wear or process fluctuations. Knowledge Gap However, detailed evaluations regarding specific dimensional variations across multiple randomly sampled automotive cable batches remain necessary to ensure long-term operational reliability. Aims This study aims to analyze the quality and manufacturing process of automotive cables at PT. Xxx to identify potential quality deviations, determine root causes, and propose data-driven improvement strategies. Results The results demonstrate that all tested cable samples comply with ISO 6722 specifications, showing stable average values for conductor diameter, insulation thickness, and electrical resistance, while identifying minor process variations caused by die wear and thermal fluctuations. Novelty This work provides empirical quality assessment by combining physical laboratory testing of ISO 6722 parameters with process optimization strategies involving statistical control and Industry 4.0 sensors. Implications The findings offer practical recommendations for manufacturing firms to minimize dimensional variation, maintain product consistency, and strengthen global market competitiveness. Key Findings Highlights Physical testing of cable samples confirms full compliance with ISO 6722 standards for conductor diameter, insulation thickness, and electrical resistance. Minor dimensional deviations observed across samples are primarily attributed to wire drawing die wear and extrusion temperature fluctuations. Adopting statistical process control and online sensor monitoring effectively minimizes product variation and enhances long-term manufacturing consistency.
