Abstract

This scientific article explores the communication patterns within the Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) group in Dusun Tlocor, Sidoarjo District, which was formed by the local government to develop tourism potential, particularly the emerging Pulau Lusi (Lumpur Sidoarjo). Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through informant interviews. The study reveals that the communication pattern within Pokdarwis exhibits a linear or continuous/chain communication style. The findings shed light on the dynamics of communication strategies employed by the group, enabling a deeper understanding of their efforts in developing tourism. These insights hold implications for fostering community participation and maximizing the economic benefits of tourism in the region. Abstract

This qualitative study employs virtual ethnography to investigate the motives underlying the use of social media among individuals in Sidoarjo Regency, a rapidly developing region in Indonesia. With the advent of modern technology and the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, social media has become crucial for disseminating information and providing entertainment to society. The research involved five informants and primarily focused on WhatsApp as a substitute communication tool facilitating their daily activities. The study explores the goals, methods, results, and implications of social media usage in Sidoarjo, highlighting its significance in supporting regional economic development. The findings shed light on the wide reach, convenience, and cost-effectiveness of social media as a mass communication medium. This research contributes to the broader understanding of the role of social media in contemporary society and its implications for communication practices and socio-economic dynamics. Abstract

This study analyzes community participation in sustainable environmental development in Ketapang Village, Sidoarjo. Descriptive research methods, including observations and interviews, were employed. Primary and secondary data were collected from key informants. The study applied Cohen and Uphoff's theory, identifying four stages of participation. Active community involvement was observed in decision-making processes, while implementation mainly relied on physical labor. Benefit-sharing involved the use of rented commercial facilities. However, community participation in evaluation activities was limited. These findings highlight the need for strategies to enhance inclusive community engagement in sustainable development, leading to positive environmental outcomes. Abstract

This quantitative study investigates the influence of financial literacy, family financial education, and lifestyle on financial management behavior, with a focus on the mediating role of financial self-efficacy. A purposive sampling technique was used, resulting in 105 employed respondents. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis in the SmartPLS application. The findings indicate that financial literacy does not directly impact financial management, but family financial education significantly influences financial management behavior, both directly and through financial self-efficacy. While lifestyle does not have a direct effect, it exerts a significant influence on financial management behavior through financial self-efficacy. These results have implications for promoting effective financial education within families and fostering financial self-efficacy to enhance overall financial management behavior in communities. Abstract

This research aims to analyze and explain the reception of society towards hoax news about the Covid-19 pandemic on TikTok. A quantitative descriptive method was employed, drawing on Jalaluddin Rahkmat's perception theory (1989:51). The study focused on the village of Cangkring Sidokare, with 96 respondents participating. The findings indicate that concerning the news item "Humans are test subjects," 79.2% of respondents considered it a hoax, while 20.8% regarded it as factual. Regarding the news item "Delayed menstruation after vaccination," 87.5% of respondents deemed it a hoax, with 12.5% considering it factual. Concerning the news item "Difficulties in conceiving after receiving the Tetanus vaccine," 85.4% of respondents viewed it as a hoax, while 14.6% considered it factual. Regarding the news item "Contents of the Sinovac vaccine," 86.5% of respondents considered it factual, with only 13.5% believing it to be a hoax. These findings shed light on the public's reception of hoax news on TikTok and emphasize the importance of addressing misinformation during the pandemic. Highlights: The study focuses on analyzing the public reception of hoax news about the Covid-19 pandemic on TikTok. A quantitative descriptive method is utilized, and 96 respondents from Cangkring Sidokare village are included. Abstract

This study explores the interplay between financial literacy, financial behavior, and employment status in relation to investment decisions. Conducted in Singopadu Village, Indonesia, the research employed a quantitative associative design with a sample of 100 participants selected through random sampling. Primary data was collected using questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS. The findings reveal significant influences of financial literacy, financial behavior, and employment status on investment decisions. The study emphasizes the importance of promoting financial literacy and cultivating positive financial behaviors to enhance investment choices, providing valuable insights for researchers and policymakers alike. Abstract

This study delves into the rich linguistic tapestry of Urdu, tracing its origins in Sanskrit grammar, its versatile phonetics, and its enduring presence from love poetry to revolutionary discourse. Emerging in India, Urdu played a pivotal role as the lingua franca in the historical Awadh kingdom and served as a vital conduit during the 1857 revolt. Its roots as Proto Urdu, or Hindvi, can be traced to imperial Delhi, prior to Aurangazeb's reign. Following the Indo-Pak partition, Urdu was adopted as the National Language of Pakistan. While the percentage of Urdu speakers in India has remained stable since 1950, its cultural significance has continued to flourish, with substantial governmental support for its promotion. This article underscores the enduring influence of Urdu on Indian society, from Bollywood's pivotal role in sustaining its prominence to its integration with Hindi, exemplified by the commendable linguistic proficiency exhibited by the Indian armed forces. This linguistic legacy remains a cornerstone of Indian identity and a formidable force in the realm of Indian politics, firmly rooted and enduring in its significance. Abstract

This qualitative study investigated the quality of administrative services in Desa Popoh, Wonoayu District, Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia, addressing prevalent issues such as slow service delivery, uncertainty in completion timelines, unfamiliarity with procedural mechanisms, and perceived inadequacies in employee attitudes. Employing descriptive qualitative research methods, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving a service head and two service users. Findings revealed a relatively favorable assessment across indicators: Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy, and Tangibles, suggesting a reasonably good quality of service provision in the studied rural community. This study contributes insights into the factors influencing and hindering public service delivery, indicating a need for sustained efforts to enhance service efficiency and user satisfaction in similar settings. Abstract

This research investigates the complexities within public service delivery at the Buduran Sub-District Office in Sidoarjo Regency, identifying issues arising from intricate procedures and demanding requirements. The study aims to uncover and analyze factors impacting the improvement of public service performance, employing a SWOT analysis to identify internal and external environmental factors. The strategic identification of five critical issues emerges, including inadequate infrastructure, public unfamiliarity with service procedures, limited service personnel, suboptimal workforce competencies, and administrative disorder at the village level. Corresponding strategic responses are proposed, such as infrastructure enhancement, intensified public education on service procedures, capacity building for civil servants, specialized recruitment in service areas, and fortified coordination with village administrations. The implications suggest targeted strategies for policymakers and public service administrators to address these challenges, thereby elevating service quality and responsiveness to societal needs. Abstract

This study investigates public satisfaction with service provision in Desa Larangan, Kecamatan Candi, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, focusing on nine key elements outlined in the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform's guidelines. Evaluating citizen satisfaction in areas ranging from requirements to infrastructure, the research surveys Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD) and the Village Government as service recipients. Findings reveal an overall favorable assessment, showcasing a commendable service quality and performance with a Satisfaction Index of 79.02. Notably, infrastructure facilities garnered the highest average score (3.28), while requirements scored the lowest (3.02). This study highlights the positive quality of rural public service provision and underscores areas for potential enhancement, serving as a benchmark for governance optimization.
