Abstract

This study explores the theological and practical significance of the Lord’s Supper within its soteriological, koinonia, missional, and eschatological dimensions. Employing biblical analysis, theological literature review, and field observations, this research offers a profound understanding of the Lord’s Supper and its application in contemporary church practices. The integrative approach adopted combines both theological and practical aspects, affirming that the Lord’s Supper is not merely an institutional rite but a command of Christ, rich in meaning. The findings reveal that the Lord’s Supper serves as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice while also strengthening the eschatological hope of the Christian community. This study underscores the importance of eschatological understanding in worship and daily life, contributing to the development of church practices that are more mission-oriented and eschatologically focused.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the concept of Free Learning in the practice of fieldwork (PKL) at the College of Theology (STT) to realize quality education in terms of increasing the activeness and creativity of students. Street vendors should ideally be a means for students to integrate theological knowledge with real practice, along with the flexibility and freedom provided by the concept of Free Learning. However, in practice, many times students face obstacles such as limited opportunities to innovate and even labor exploitation, where they are more assigned to jobs that do not correspond to their field of study. This study uses qualitative methods through literature studies, in-depth interviews and observations to identify the relationship between learning freedom and increased student creativity. Although previous studies have shown that innovation in street vendors can increase student engagement, this study shows that challenges in implementation in theological education still exist. The results of this study are expected to provide insights to improve the PKL system in STT, with recommendations to improve cooperation between campus and PKL institutions, as well as create a more supportive environment for student creativity, so that PKL can be a more effective forum for student competence development in accordance with the principle of Free Learning.

Abstract

Kalimantan Island, which is known as one of the lungs of the world, is now experiencing forest destruction due to the expansion of oil palm plantations. Kalimantan's forests, which are rich in biodiversity, are now increasingly threatened by deforestation. The negative impact of deforestation is air and air pollution due to logging and forest fires which threaten humans and wildlife. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods in conducting research. The aim of this research is to offer how the church should play a role in influencing the ecological crisis in Kalimantan, what the church's responsibility is for environmental conservation and what solutions the church can provide to deal with the problem of forest destruction in Kalimantan. The result is that the church has an important role in maintaining ecological sustainability through religious teachings, environmental education, and policy advocacy. The Church builds cooperation with all elements (church congregation, general community, government, NGOs, and community associations) in society to manage and preserve forests, especially in Kalimantan.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural nation, faces challenges in maintaining social harmony amidst ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity. This study examines an integrative strategy combining social theology, peacebuilding, and local wisdom as a holistic approach to fostering harmonious living. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and case studies, this research analyzes the role of social conflict theory, functionalism, symbolic interactionism, reconciliation theory, and the concept of Christ the Transformer of Culture in formulating a theology-based social strategy. The findings reveal that local wisdom, such as Martarombo in Batak culture, contains peace values aligned with social theology in fostering just and harmonious relationships. Social hermeneutics and thematic analysis are employed to explore the interconnection between cultural and theological values in reconciliation and social integration. This study concludes that social harmony can be achieved through the synergy of religion and culture as a sustainable peace strategy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of sufficiency in the Letter to the Hebrews and its relevance in facing the challenges of materialism in the modern era. The method used is a qualitative approach with theological analysis, including a literature study of the Bible text (especially Hebrews 13:5-6), theological commentaries, and related literature. The results of the study indicate that true sufficiency in the perspective of the Letter to the Hebrews is centered on faith and dependence on God, not on material wealth. This teaching offers a solution for spiritual life amidst the pressures of a consumer culture by emphasizing satisfaction in Christ, a simple lifestyle, and hope in God's promises. The practical implications include the role of the church in teaching the principle of biblical sufficiency through teaching, congregational development, and programs that encourage a life of sharing and gratitude. In conclusion, this study confirms that Christian faith is a solid foundation for finding true sufficiency, while providing strategic recommendations for the church and individuals in implementing these values ??in a materialistic world.

Abstract

Christian leadership is often equated with secular leadership, potentially deviating from God's intended purpose. This research aims to analyze the concept of Christ's leadership from a biblical perspective, focusing on understanding leadership as a divine calling through a comprehensive study of the four Gospels. The research employs a qualitative methodology with a literature study approach, utilizing data sources from journals, books, and observations of church leadership practices. Research findings reveal that authentic Christian leadership is a manifestation of divine calling to serve, rather than merely human effort. Such leadership is characterized by total dedication to the mission of proclaiming God's truth among His people. The study concludes that Christian leadership is fundamentally a spiritual responsibility determined by God's sovereignty, transcending organizational positions or human ambitions.

As a country with diversity, there are certainly challenges faced in maintaining harmony and tolerance among religious communities. Therefore, religious moderation is key in the effort to create a peaceful and harmonious life in the midst of existing differences. This study aims to analyze the role of religious moderation in the context of Christianity in Indonesia, focusing on how the values of moderation are internalized and implemented by Christians in interacting with a pluralistic society. In this research, a qualitative-literature study methodology is used. Data were obtained from written sources, such as books, journals, articles and other documents. This is done to explore the meanings, patterns, and perspectives contained in the existing literature. The results showed that religious moderation has a significant role in shaping the attitudes and behavior of Christians in Indonesia. Values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and interfaith cooperation become an important foundation in social interactions in which Christians in Indonesia are involved in various activities in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research explores the biblical perspective on the growing phenomenon of online religion in the digital age, where religious practices such as worship, Bible study, and fellowship are conducted virtually. Using qualitative methods and a biblical theology approach, this study analyses biblical texts and secondary literature to understand the compatibility of online religion with biblical principles. The results show that although online religion is not explicitly addressed in the Bible, the importance of physical fellowship in worship poses a theological challenge to the practice. However, online  religion can remain useful as an enabler of Christian community, especially in certain conditions where physical gathering is not possible.

Abstract

Child discipline is a crucial parental responsibility in forming a generation of character and reverence for God, but its practice often falls into two extremes: harsh discipline potentially harming the child or an overly permissive approach that leaves children without moral guidance. This biblical exegetical research on Proverbs 19:18 aims to analyze the concept of child discipline from a biblical perspective, using a comprehensive interpretive method that considers socio-theological context. The research results show that true discipline is an educational process based on love, encompassing instruction, wise correction, and educational consequences, focusing on forming children's spiritual character from an early age through a holistic approach that avoids violence and directs children towards wisdom and obedience to God.

Abstract

The complexity of life's challenges demands a holistic counseling approach, where Christian counseling offers a theological perspective to understand fundamental human issues, particularly related to human sinfulness and the need for spiritual transformation. Through a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores the history, development, characteristics, and fundamental principles of Christian counseling in a theological context. Data sources were obtained from theological literature, Christian counseling books, scientific journals, and relevant library sources examined in-depth and systematically. The research reveals that Christian counseling has unique characteristics: focusing on God (theocentric), aiming at Imitatio Christi, and oriented towards spiritual transformation through the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Christian counseling is understood not merely as a psychological method, but as a fundamental spiritual calling to restore human relationships with God.
