Abstract

The increasing use of digital communication technology has created challenges for elderly users, particularly in accessing and operating non-chat WhatsApp applications that provide various digital services beyond conventional messaging functions. Limited digital literacy, unfamiliar interface designs, and age-related barriers may affect the usability and acceptance of these applications among older adults. This study aims to analyze the ease of use of non-chat WhatsApp applications among elderly users using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method. This research employed a quantitative approach by collecting usability evaluation data from elderly respondents who had experience using non-chat WhatsApp applications. Data were obtained through SUS questionnaires consisting of ten standardized usability statements measured using a Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed to determine the overall usability score and identify the level of user acceptance based on SUS interpretation criteria. The results showed that the usability evaluation provided an overview of elderly users’ perceptions regarding application efficiency, learnability, and interaction convenience. The SUS score indicated the level of usability acceptance of non-chat WhatsApp applications, demonstrating the extent to which the interface design supports elderly users in completing digital service interactions. This study concludes that usability evaluation using the SUS method can provide an effective approach for identifying accessibility issues and improving the design of digital communication applications for elderly users. Future improvements should focus on simplified interfaces, clearer navigation structures, and user-centered design approaches to enhance digital inclusion among older adults.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the main sources of GHG emissions, explore potential innovation opportunities, and formulate emission reduction strategies that align with the operational conditions of XYZ Oil and Gas Company's Offshore Field. This research employed the Design Thinking 3-IDEO model, which consists of Inspiration, Ideation, and Implementation stages. Data were collected through field observations, document analysis, in-depth interviews, stakeholder mapping, empathy maps, user personas, user journey maps, point of view (PoV), and how might we (HMW) analyses. The respondents included various stakeholders directly involved in offshore field operations. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively to identify user needs, operational challenges, and innovation opportunities that support emission reduction initiatives. The results indicate that the primary sources of GHG emissions originate from flare systems, fuel consumption in gas turbine compressors and generators, well unloading and well intervention activities caused by high back pressure, as well as diesel fuel consumption from offshore vessel operations. Through the ideation and stakeholder validation processes, four priority innovation strategies were identified: (1) utilization of gas released from the primary seal gas system as additional fuel gas, (2) optimization of operating pressure through modifications to existing facilities, (3) optimization of vessel operations through procedural improvements, and (4) installation of electrical submersible pumps (ESP) powered by micro turbine generators. All proposed strategies demonstrate strong alignment with ESG principles, operational excellence objectives, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while offering potential environmental, operational, and economic benefits in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Audit quality is a crucial element in maintaining public trust in financial reporting and ensuring the credibility of information used by stakeholders in economic decision-making. However, several audit failures have demonstrated that audit quality remains a significant challenge, particularly when auditors encounter threats to professional judgment, independence, accountability, and objectivity. This study aims to examine and synthesize previous research findings regarding the roles of auditor independence, accountability, and objectivity in improving audit quality within the public accounting profession in Indonesia. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing relevant scientific publications obtained from databases, including Google Scholar, Garuda, and SINTA. The selected articles were evaluated based on predetermined inclusion criteria and analyzed using qualitative content analysis to identify research patterns, relationships among variables, and research gaps. The findings indicate that auditor independence is a fundamental factor influencing audit quality because it enables auditors to provide impartial judgments without external pressure or conflicts of interest. Furthermore, accountability encourages auditors to conduct audit procedures carefully and responsibly, while objectivity ensures fairness and neutrality in evaluating audit evidence. The discussion highlights that these three professional attributes complement one another in strengthening audit credibility and stakeholder confidence. This study concludes that improving audit quality requires continuous efforts from auditors, Public Accounting Firms (PAFs), regulators, and professional organizations through ethical enforcement, effective quality control systems, competency development, and the strengthening of professional standards.

Abstract

The non-subsidized fertilizer distribution sector in Riau Province faces increasing market demand along with significant challenges related to supply fulfillment, service quality, and business process efficiency. CV Bangun Dinata, as one of the official distributors of non-subsidized fertilizers, experiences limitations within its existing business model, including manual operational processes, unintegrated distribution channels, limited information transparency, and high order cancellation rates. This study aims to redesign the non-subsidized fertilizer distribution business model using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework to develop a more adaptive, competitive, and customer-oriented business strategy. This research employed a qualitative case study approach involving interviews, observations, questionnaires, and document analysis. Data were collected from company stakeholders and 30 fertilizer agents using purposive sampling techniques. The analysis process consisted of existing Business Model Canvas mapping, SWOT analysis, gap analysis, identification of Critical Success Factors (CSFs), and development of a proposed To-Be business model validated through service blueprint analysis and operational impact simulation. The results indicate that the existing business model requires improvement, particularly in value propositions, digital channel integration, customer relationship management, and operational activities. The proposed redesign transforms the company from a product-oriented model into a service-oriented business model by implementing digital ordering systems, real-time inventory information, delivery tracking, flexible payment mechanisms, and responsive customer service. The implementation simulation demonstrates potential improvements in fulfillment rates, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. In conclusion, the redesigned Business Model Canvas provides a strategic framework for improving distribution performance, strengthening competitiveness, and supporting sustainable business growth for CV Bangun Dinata.

Abstract

Suspicion for non?obstetric intra?abdominal injuries in pregnant patients is often overlooked due to the striking clinical similarity to more common obstetric causes such as placental abruption or uterine rupture. This report discusses diagnostic pitfalls in a fatal pancreatic rupture case masquerading as a catastrophic obstetric event. This case highlights the "obstetric bias" in acute shock management. The Couvelaire uterus and atonia were secondary consequences of systemic hypoperfusion rather than the primary source of hemorrhage. A 25-year-old woman at 24 weeks gestation presented with profound hemorrhagic shock (BP 42/26 mmHg, GCS 3), a rigid "wooden" uterus, and intrauterine fetal demise. While initial findings suggested concealed placental abruption, laparotomy revealed a Couvelaire, atonic uterus without rupture. Further systematic exploration discovered a high-grade pancreatic tail rupture with a 7,000 mL retroperitoneal hemorrhage. Despite a total hysterectomy and damage-control measures, the patient succumbed to refractory shock and multi-organ dysfunction postoperatively. Clinicians must remain aware of non-obstetric cause of hemodynamic collapse in atypical presentations to prevent diagnostic delay. Prompt adoption of trauma?style algorithms, damage?control surgery, and massive transfusion protocols are vital when surgical findings do not correlate with the degree of hemorrhage.

Abstract

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage–Enhanced Oil Recovery (CCUS–EOR) is a strategic approach to increasing crude oil production while supporting carbon emission reduction efforts in the oil and gas industry. This research aimed to determine the most suitable CO? source scenario for the CCUS–EOR pilot project in Field X using the AHP and TOPSIS methods and to evaluate its technical and economic feasibility. AHP was applied to determine the weights of four main criteria: CO? quality and specifications, CO? reservoir and supply capacity, distance and transportation requirements, and operational risks. TOPSIS was then used to rank alternative CO? sources, and the results were validated through technical and economic evaluations. CO? quality and specifications emerged as the most dominant criterion, with a weight of 55.8%. Technically, the implementation of CCUS–EOR was considered feasible with the addition of supporting facilities, including compression systems, dehydration units, booster compressors, and pumping systems. The projected CO? injection capacity reached 106,966 tCO? per year and was estimated to increase oil production by 146,000 barrels per year. Economically, the project generated annual revenue of approximately USD 11.62 million, with a capital expenditure (CAPEX) of USD 12.63 million, annual operating expenditure (OPEX) of USD 1.77 million, and cumulative discounted cash flow of USD 4.45 million at the end of the second year. The project achieved an internal rate of return (IRR) of 35.5%, a discounted payback period of 1.45 years, and a net levelized cost of CO? (net LCO?) of ?USD 27.6. The results demonstrated that the CCUS–EOR pilot project was technically and economically feasible, with the potential to increase oil production, reduce carbon emissions, and minimize dependence on routine flaring.

Abstract

PT JFS’s mature oil and gas fields have experienced declining reservoir pressure, increasing water cut, and reduced productivity due to long-term reservoir depletion. To support efforts to enhance oil production while reducing carbon emissions, the integration of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) with CO?-based Enhanced Oil Recovery (CO?-EOR) presents a significant implementation opportunity. This research aimed to determine the most potential field priorities for CO?-EOR implementation at PT JFS using a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach. Five alternative fields—Prabu, Lima, Ades, Pendekar, and Rambo—were evaluated based on five criteria and thirteen subcriteria identified through Focus Group Discussions with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to determine the criteria weights, while the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) was used to rank alternatives based on their proximity to the ideal solution. The results showed that Reservoir Properties had the highest weight (0.438), while Production Realization (0.215) and Permeability (0.183) were the most influential factors at the subcriterion level. Based on the TOPSIS analysis, the Ades field was selected as the highest-priority candidate, with a preference value of 0.865, followed by Prabu, Lima, and Pendekar, while Rambo ranked as the lowest-priority alternative. The developed AHP-TOPSIS model was validated using a case study at PT ABC, in which the Sukowan field was identified as the most feasible candidate compared with other alternatives, demonstrating the model’s consistency with actual technical and operational considerations. This model can serve as an objective, systematic, and consistent decision-support tool for CCUS project planning and has the potential for application in other oil and gas fields with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Flare gas utilization has become an important issue in the oil and gas industry due to its economic potential and contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. Continuous gas flaring not only results in energy losses but also limits opportunities to increase gas sales potential. Therefore, selecting an appropriate Flare Gas Recovery (FGR) technology is essential to support operational efficiency and emission reduction targets, including the Zero Routine Flaring by 2030 initiative. This study aims to evaluate and determine the most suitable FGR technology alternative for PT XYZ’s oil and gas field by applying a systematic multi-criteria decision-making approach. The research employed the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to evaluate three FGR alternatives: LPG extraction, High-Pressure (HP) fuel gas recovery, and recycle compression. The evaluation criteria included cost, implementation time, operability, recovered condensate potential, and manpower requirements. Data were collected through expert interviews, technical document analysis, operational data review, and process simulation evaluation. The results showed that recycle compression (T3) achieved the highest priority based on the AHP calculation, with a final priority value of 0.4070, followed by LPG recovery (T1) with a value of 0.3315 and HP fuel gas recovery (T2) with a value of 0.2615. Sensitivity analysis confirmed that T3 provided the most stable decision under various changes in evaluation criteria. This study concludes that the AHP-based evaluation model can support objective technology selection and provide a practical framework for improving gas utilization, reducing flaring emissions, and enhancing operational efficiency in upstream oil and gas facilities.

Abstract

The fuel adulteration issue involving PT Pertamina (Persero) has become a significant crisis that threatens public trust and the company’s reputation as a strategic state-owned enterprise in Indonesia. Crisis management is not only related to resolving operational problems but also requires effective communication strategies to maintain organizational legitimacy. This study aims to analyze Pertamina’s communication strategy in addressing the fuel adulteration crisis through the perspective of Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with internal company representatives, consumers, and crisis communication experts, supported by documentation and media analysis. Data validity was ensured through source, method, and investigator triangulation, while thematic analysis was applied based on SCCT dimensions, including crisis identification, intensifying factors, and response strategies. The findings indicate that the crisis was categorized as a preventable crisis due to public perceptions regarding weaknesses in organizational supervision. Pertamina implemented a combination of diminish, rebuild, and reinforcing strategies by providing clarification, supporting legal investigations, improving two-way communication, and strengthening corporate reputation through educational communication. However, the effectiveness of these strategies was still influenced by response speed, message consistency, and transparency. This study concludes that crisis communication strategies in state-owned enterprises require a balanced approach between reputation protection and public accountability to restore stakeholder trust.

Abstract

The reliability of electricity supply systems is a critical factor in supporting continuous oil production operations in the upstream oil and gas industry, particularly for artificial lift facilities such as Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP). Interruptions in electricity supply may lead to unplanned shutdowns, production losses, and operational inefficiencies. This study aims to evaluate alternative electricity supply systems for an upstream oil and gas company’s power plant and develop an appropriate decision-making model based on technical, economic, and operational considerations. The study employed a quantitative decision-making approach using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods. Data were collected from operational reports, electricity supply alternatives, cost estimations, and expert assessments. The AHP method was applied to determine the priority weights of evaluation criteria, while TOPSIS was used to rank the available alternatives. The results indicate that cost was the most influential criterion in the decision-making process, followed by operational reliability, maintenance aspects, and failure impact. The TOPSIS analysis showed that the PLN electricity supply system integrated with Super Ultima service and Dynamic Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply (DRUPS) achieved the highest preference value compared with other alternatives. This study contributes a structured evaluation model for selecting reliable electricity supply systems in upstream oil and gas operations. The proposed approach can support strategic decision-making to improve production continuity, operational resilience, and energy sustainability.
