Abstract

Achieving national education goals heavily relies on the effectiveness of teachers, who serve as the cornerstone of educational excellence. However, the variance in teacher performance remains a challenge, necessitating exploration into influential factors. Among these, principal leadership emerges as a significant determinant. This study endeavors to examine the influence of principal leadership on teacher performance within private vocational schools in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province. Employing a quantitative correlational approach, data was collected from 115 teachers through questionnaires and document analysis. Utilizing simple linear regression, the analysis revealed a substantial positive correlation between principal leadership and teacher performance, accounting for 31.4% of the variance. The findings underscore the pivotal role of principal leadership in enhancing teacher performance, underscoring the imperative for cultivating effective leadership within educational institutions. These insights hold profound implications for educational policymakers, administrators, and stakeholders, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to bolster leadership capabilities and thereby elevate overall educational outcomes.

Abstract

Tourist loyalty is a crucial factor in ecotourism destinations because it can accommodate the number of tourists visiting Punti Kayu. This study aims to examine how tourist satisfaction can mediate ecotourism destination loyalty through perceived value, perceived safety, and destination image. There are 175 samples in this research, consisting of people who live in Palembang City and have gone to Punti Kayu at least once. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the data collected. The Sobel test is conducted as the path analysis to know the mediation effect. The results showed that perceived value, perceived safety, and destination image positively impact tourist satisfaction. Besides that, perceived value, destination image, and tourist satisfaction also positively influence destination loyalty, but perceived safety does not impact ecotourism destination loyalty. In the Sobel test, tourist satisfaction mediates the impact of perceived value, safety, and destination image toward tourist loyalty. The implications of this study highlight the importance of understanding and managing the factors that influence tourist loyalty in ecotourism destinations such as Punti Kayu. By knowing that traveler satisfaction mediates the relationship between perceived value, safety, and destination image with loyalty, destination managers and policy makers can design more effective strategies in improving visitor experience and promoting ecotourism sustainability. Thus, this study not only provides new insights into ecotourism destination management, but also provides a solid foundation for the development of better policies and marketing strategies in the future.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of the factors that cause stunting and the value of economic losses due to stunting in Ketapang Regency by using the factors that cause stunting that are studied, namely food security, social environment, health environment, and residential environment. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative research. The population used was 88 people with stunted children and 30 people with non-stunted children. The data analysis technique used is the chi-square test statistical analysis program facility using SPSS. The results of this study show that there is a significant relationship between the social environment, social environment, and health environment in the incidence of stunting in the Ketapang district. However, the residential environment has an insignificant relationship with stunting in Ketapang Regency. Moreover, the economic loss caused by stunting, assuming a decrease in productivity of 2 percent to 9 percent, is estimated to range from 1 percent to 10.8 percent of Ketapang's GRDP, or approximately 200 billion rupiah to 1.8 trillion rupiah, thereby underlining the urgency for targeted interventions and policy initiatives to address this issue effectively.

Abstract

Epidemiologic studies have shown that the incidence of cardiovascular disease is closely related to gender. This is because endogenous estrogens have broad effects on the circulatory system, leading to the hypothesis that estrogens are cardiovascular protective, underlying their use as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease. However, large prospective clinical trials (HERS and WHI) do not support this. This review aims to better understand the cardiovascularoprotective effects of estrogen and answer the question of whether estrogen can be used as hormonal replacement therapy in post-menopausal women to prevent cardiovascular events by incorporating data from the most recent prospective clinical trial, the KEEPS study. HERS and WHI reported no reduction in cardiovascular events in postmenopausal women using HRT, even showing an increased risk of thromboembolism. This study was criticized because participants had been menopausal for 12 years, so the KEEPS study was conducted with participants within three years of menopause, with the result that there was no significant reduction in the progression of atherosclerosis between the HRT group and the placebo group. The KEEPS study states that HRT is safe, and no thromboembolic events were found. Although endogenous estrogen has cardiovascular protective effects, estrogen hormone therapy cannot reduce cardiovascular events in postmenopausal women despite metabolic improvements and beneficial effects such as improvement of postmenopausal-related symptoms, maintaining bone density, and improving sexual function.

Abstract

Total hip replacement is a common surgery to treat severe hip joint pain and dysfunction. Although total hip replacement is generally safe and effective, complications, including revision, are risks. This study aimed to systematically review the literature to analyze revision rates and causes of total hip replacement. This research uses a systematic literature review method following PRISMA guidelines. The data collection technique in this research uses literature study techniques. Literature searches were conducted in electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The data that has been collected is then analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that factors such as infection, dislocation, limb length discrepancy, and other complications play an important role in determining the revision rate and success of replacement. Precautions include using a povidone-iodine mouthwash before treatment to reduce the risk of infection and implementing better blood management protocols to optimize total hip replacement results. This study implies an in-depth understanding of the risk factors associated with revision total hip replacement, which is essential in managing patients undergoing this procedure. By paying closer attention to these factors, medical practitioners can increase the success of total hip replacement and reduce the number of revisions required, thereby improving patients' quality of life.

Abstract

This study delves into the elements of patent rights and dispute resolution strategies in cases of patent infringement. The background of the research stems from the necessity to understand the legal framework surrounding patent protection and the mechanisms available for resolving disputes in the event of infringement. The primary objective is to identify the crucial components of patent rights and the various methods employed to address disputes arising from alleged patent violations. Employing a normative legal research approach, with both conceptual and statutory analyses, this study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the subject matter. The findings underscore the significance of novelty as a fundamental criterion for patent acceptance, as defined by Law Number 13 of 2016 concerning Patents. Novelty, characterized by the absence of prior public disclosure, usage, or inclusion in existing knowledge standards, is essential for patent registration. The study reveals that patent disputes concerning novelty can be addressed through diverse legal avenues, including patent removal suits, trial proceedings, mediation, patent reexamination, out-of-court settlements, and appellate processes. Furthermore, alternative mechanisms such as arbitration offer additional pathways for resolving disputes. The implications of this research highlight the importance of adhering to novelty requirements during patent registration and understanding the array of dispute resolution mechanisms available to safeguard intellectual property rights.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law) No. 27 of 2022 in the e-commerce sector in Indonesia, with a focus on consumer data protection. The method used is normative juridical, focusing on analyzing relevant documents and regulations to outline the legal framework and its application in e-commerce practices. Sources of legal materials include laws and regulations, academic literature, and interviews with legal experts and e-commerce practitioners. The results show that e-commerce companies have made significant adjustments to comply with the PDP Law, including improved privacy policies and investments in data security technologies. However, challenges to the full implementation of the PDP Law remain, particularly regarding consumers' and companies' awareness and understanding of the rights and obligations stipulated in the PDP Law. While there has been an increase in consumer trust in e-commerce platforms, increasing consumer awareness and active participation in the protection of their data still requires further efforts. The implication of this study is that the PDP Law No. 27 of 2022 has provided a stronger and more comprehensive legal framework for consumer data protection in Indonesia's e-commerce sector. However, to maximize the effectiveness of this law, a concerted effort is needed between regulators, the e-commerce industry, and the wider public to improve education and awareness of personal data protection, as well as ongoing adjustments to data management practices by e-commerce companies.
