Abstract

The increasing integration of digital media in education has opened new pathways for enhancing student engagement, particularly in English reading classes. This study aims to explore students' attitudes toward using digital media in reading lessons, focusing on its impact on motivation and accessibility in English language learning. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research was conducted in a State Junior High School in Sleman, with data collected from ten students through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover recurring patterns related to student experiences with digital media. The findings reveal that students generally respond positively to digital media, appreciating its flexibility and access to diverse reading resources. Digital media facilitates engaging, interactive learning and enables students to study independently outside the classroom, breaking the limitations of time and space. The study concludes that digital media has significant potential to enhance motivation and foster a more inclusive, accessible learning environment. However, challenges remain regarding digital literacy and consistent technology access. Future research could explore the long-term impact of digital media on reading proficiency and strategies to support broader implementation in under-resourced schools.

Abstract

This study explores the representation of violence against female characters in Indonesian horror novels, examining how these portrayals reflect societal views on gender and power. By analyzing three popular novels, the research focuses on types of violence—physical, psychological, and symbolic—that female characters experience, aiming to uncover how these depictions critique patriarchal norms. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study uses textual analysis alongside a feminist narrative framework to interpret recurring themes and patterns within these narratives. Findings reveal that, while female characters are often portrayed as victims, they also demonstrate moments of resistance and agency, challenging traditional roles and societal expectations. This ambivalent portrayal highlights both the vulnerability and resilience of women, offering insights into the complex dynamics of gender in Indonesian culture. The study concludes that Indonesian horror novels serve as a powerful medium for social critique, using horror to comment on issues of gender-based violence and the potential for women to disrupt oppressive structures. This research emphasizes the role of literature in reflecting and challenging societal norms, particularly regarding the representation of women.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of healthcare systems highlights the need for data-driven approaches to optimize drug usage patterns and improve disease management. This study employs the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm to analyze correlations between prescribed medications and associated diseases, utilizing a dataset comprising attributes such as patient demographics, drug types, dosages, and treatment frequencies. The results reveal significant trends, including the predominance of "Drug_D" due to its versatility across multiple conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. The study also highlights the prevalence of chronic conditions like hypertension and respiratory disorders, underscoring the importance of preventive healthcare and resource allocation. Simplified dosage regimens, predominantly "Once_Daily," were found to enhance patient adherence, aligning with global best practices in chronic disease management. The analysis further emphasizes targeted prescribing practices, with specific drugs strongly correlated to particular diseases, such as "Drug_A" for hypertension and "Drug_B" for respiratory disorders. However, the broad usage of certain medications raises concerns about potential over-reliance, necessitating regular monitoring. These findings demonstrate the value of machine learning in improving healthcare decision-making, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting evidence-based practices. Future research should expand the dataset to include genetic and lifestyle factors to further refine predictive accuracy and contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine. This study underscores the transformative potential of integrating data mining techniques into healthcare systems to achieve better patient outcomes and more effective resource management.

Abstract

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), is a debilitating condition marked by persistent fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, and chronic pain, severely affecting quality of life. This study explores the potential of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy as an innovative treatment for CFS. Using a qualitative descriptive design and case studies, data were gathered through interviews, medical record reviews, and observations of patients undergoing MSC therapy. The findings revealed significant improvements in fatigue, cognitive function, and physical well-being, with participants reporting better memory, concentration, reduced pain, and improved daily functioning. While some sleep disturbances persisted, their severity was reduced. These results highlight the potential of MSC therapy to alleviate CFS symptoms and enhance quality of life. Despite its promise, challenges such as high costs, regulatory hurdles, and the need for standardized protocols persist. Further research is required to confirm long-term efficacy and safety, contributing to the growing evidence for regenerative medicine in treating chronic conditions like CFS.

Abstract

Universities must adapt to 21st-century skills, emphasizing character education to foster holistic student development. This study aimed to enhance students' character of responsibility in the Pancasila course through the Citizenship Project-Based Learning (CPBL) model. Employing the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, the study involved planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, with data collected via observations and questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The CPBL model significantly improved students' ability to take responsibility for individual and group tasks, solve problems, provide solutions, and deliver effective project presentations. Students showcased enhanced critical thinking, teamwork, accountability in task completion, and creative problem-solving, as reflected in group portfolios and video presentations. The learning process fostered higher engagement, collaboration, and the development of a responsible character aligned with Pancasila values. This study highlights the CPBL model's potential as a practical framework for integrating character education into higher education. It strengthens critical thinking and collaboration and equips students with the competencies necessary for societal contribution and national development. The model offers a replicable approach to embedding Pancasila values in educational practices, making it a valuable tool for fostering responsibility and holistic character development in university students.

Abstract

The concern in Indonesia is that explicit regulations addressing this issue still need to be improved. This study aims to analyze the legal dilemmas surrounding diploma retention, identify weaknesses in current regulations, and propose solutions to protect employee rights. Using a normative juridical approach, this research employs statutory and conceptual methodologies. Data were collected through document analysis of legal statutes, employment agreements, and relevant legal literature. The findings indicate that ambiguity in regulatory frameworks concerning legal sanctions leads to repeated violations and construction failures.  The findings reveal that diploma retention as collateral needs a solid legal foundation, creating an imbalance of power that disadvantages employees. The study highlights the novelty of examining diplomas as collateral within the broader principles of collateral law, offering new perspectives on their inapplicability as valid collateral objects. By proposing clear regulatory frameworks and alternative approaches, such as proportional penalties, the study contributes to safeguarding workers’ rights while addressing employers' concerns. These findings aim to promote fairness and legal certainty in employment practices.

Abstract

The rapid growth of electronic transactions has introduced new challenges, particularly concerning tortious conduct and the legal framework governing these interactions. In an increasingly digital era, electronic transactions have become a primary medium for commerce and business interactions, yet issues such as fraud and personal data violations have become more prevalent. Article 1365 provides a legal basis for individuals or entities suffering damages to file claims for compensation. This study examines the urgency of implementing Article 1365 of the Civil Code in addressing tortious conduct within electronic transactions in Indonesia. The objective is to analyze the applicability, limitations, and potential reforms needed to adapt Article 1365 to the digital context. A normative legal research method was employed, utilizing a statute and conceptual approach. Data were collected by analyzing legislative texts, legal literature, and case law. Data analysis involved qualitative content analysis to identify gaps and propose solutions. The findings reveal that Article 1365 provides a strong foundation for addressing tortious conduct, but its application in electronic transactions remains ambiguous, particularly regarding evidence collection and the definition of harm. This research introduces a novel perspective by emphasizing the necessity for specific regulations and institutional reforms to enhance legal certainty and address the unique challenges posed by electronic transactions. These recommendations aim to protect consumer rights, ensure fair business practices, and foster trust in Indonesia’s digital economy.
