Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost) areas, remains a significant challenge due to weak student literacy and numeracy skills, a problematic school climate, and ineffective learning management. This research aims to explore and describe the learning management practices implemented in driving schools (Sekolah Penggerak) in Ternate City. This study examines how learning management, based on the differentiated learning approach, can address these challenges and improve educational quality. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method involving eight teachers and four principals from the first batch of driving schools. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The results indicate that learning management involves three key stages: 1) Planning, which focuses on teacher preparedness and learning administration; 2) Implementation, where differentiated learning methods are applied; and 3) Evaluation, which employs formative and summative assessments. These practices contribute to enhanced learning quality, especially in under-resourced schools. The study concludes that differentiated learning and effective management practices can significantly improve educational outcomes in 3T areas.

Abstract

Gitelman Syndrome (GS) is a rare genetic disorder often underdiagnosed due to its non-specific symptoms that can appear from neonatal stages to adulthood. It is more frequently observed in Asians, with a prevalence of approximately 1 in 40,000 people. Accurate diagnosis requires a comprehensive clinical interview and laboratory examinations. This report presents the case of a 37-year-old woman with GS who also experienced a urinary tract infection and had a history of cesarean section. Upon admission, she reported feeling fatigued and weak in all extremities. She had undergone a cesarean section a month prior due to pre-eclampsia. Initial laboratory tests revealed hypokalaemia, hyponatremia, and hypochloraemia. Further evaluation during hospitalization detected a urinary tract infection, hypocalciuria, and hypomagnesemia. The patient also suffered from carpopedal spasms and muscle cramps. Treatment included magnesium sulfate, calcium gluconate, potassium chloride, and sodium chloride infusions to restore electrolyte balance. The patient was discharged after six days, with a diagnosis of Gitelman Syndrome, which was unusual given her late onset of symptoms, as most cases are identified in childhood. The clinical presentation was largely driven by the patient’s electrolyte imbalances, especially hypokalaemia and hypomagnesemia, with hypomagnesemia further contributing to hypocalcemia and vitamin D deficiency. The patient’s symptoms improved after appropriate electrolyte supplementation. This case emphasizes the importance of a detailed clinical history and laboratory assessments in diagnosing GS, along with timely correction of electrolyte disturbances to improve the patient’s condition and prevent complications.

Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is common in children, many of whom require a gluten-free diet. This study explored gluten-free biscuits made with modified taro flour and coconut pulp flour, which are rich in carbohydrates, fats, fiber, and protein. The goal was to assess the physical, sensory, and chemical properties of biscuits made with different ratios of these flours. The research used four formulations of taro flour to coconut pulp flour: P0 (100:0), P1 (70:30), P2 (50:50), and P3 (30:70), with five replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. Results showed that the P2 (50:50) formulation produced the heaviest biscuits (5.32g) and scored highest in color (3.82) and taste (3.78) in sensory tests. The P3 (30:70) formulation was rated best for aroma (3.56) and texture (3.82). Chemical analysis revealed that P0 (100:0) had the highest water (1.85%), ash (2.22%), and carbohydrate content (61.32%). The P2 (50:50) formulation had the highest protein content (4.42%), while P3 (30:70) had the most fat (49.03%) and fiber (7.96%). This study concluded that modified taro flour and coconut pulp flour are effective in creating nutritious, gluten-free biscuits, offering a suitable alternative for children with ASD.

Abstract

Developing competence and distributing human resources within the state civil apparatus (ASN) is crucial for enhancing their professionalism. This study aimed to identify constraints and alternative strategies for developing competence in functional positions within the Yogyakarta Special Region Government (DIY). Using a qualitative descriptive analysis, the research highlighted several obstacles in functional position development, including limited training types, budget constraints, scheduling conflicts, and insufficient information about available training. Training institutions responsible for developing the competence of functional officials must adhere to legal requirements, particularly those holding accreditation from the relevant Guiding Agency. Collaboration with universities or accredited training institutions is also necessary, particularly in education. Additionally, there is a need to ensure that competent teaching staff are available for specific types of functional training. To address these challenges, the selection of training types must align with a mapped-out understanding of the competency needs of functional officials in the DIY Regional Government. By considering these needs, the government can better target the development of its human resources, ensuring that functional officials receive the appropriate training to fulfill their roles effectively. These steps will help overcome current barriers and support ASN's long-term professionalism and competence in functional roles.

Abstract

In the history of Western philosophy, debates about truth and error have continued to develop, reflecting diverse views that have emerged over time. The question of human nature became the center of intellectual attention, expanding philosophical study from speculation to fundamental thinking. Amid this context, Immanuel Kant emerged as a key figure who brought a new approach to philosophical inquiry. Although he spent his life in Koningsberg, his ideas in epistemology, anthropology, ethics, and education gained global recognition and made him one of the most influential philosophers of the modern era. However, his views have also drawn criticism, especially for the inconsistencies that are perceived to support dogmatism, although he originally intended to criticize it. This research analyzes Kant's thought, especially about the limits of human knowledge, metaphysics, and criticism of dogmatism. The method used is qualitative text analysis, which examines Kant's main work, "Critique of Pure Reason," as well as the views of other philosophers. Primary and secondary literature is reviewed to identify inconsistencies in Kant's arguments. The results show that although Kant's philosophical system has made an outstanding contribution, there are significant areas for improvement in the handling of metaphysical concepts and the limits of knowledge, which ultimately has the potential to fall into dogmatism. This study concludes that Kant's thought remains relevant and essential, but it needs to be reread critically to fully understand its impact on modern philosophy.
