Abstract

ARI cases dominate globally morbidity and mortality rates. ARI prevalence is increasing annually in the Padang city. This study aims to determine the determinants of the incidence of ARI in the Pauh Public Health Center. A quantitative study using a cross-sectional design was used. From October to December 2022, 141 mothers having children under five years took part in this study. Purposive sampling was used to collect the sample. Data was gathered using a structured questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results showed that 64.5% of mothers were at risk, and more than half were at low educational and economic levels (71,6%) and (51,1%). There is a significant relationship between smoking habits (p=0.00; PR=1.53), immunization status (p=0.00; PR=1.80), and level of mother’s knowledge (p=0 .00; PR=1.68) with the incidence of ARI in children under five years. ARI in children under five years was significantly associated with smoking habits, immunization status and mother’s knowledges. It is hoped that family members, especially parents, will be more involved in their children's health and development, and that health workers can regularly educate the public about maternal and child health, especially ARI prevention, through various media and activate health cadres.

Abstract

The primary issue in type II diabetes mellitus is the body's inadequate reaction to insulin (insulin resistance), resulting in the inability of glucose to enter the cells. Preserving mental well-being, particularly by preventing anxiety, is a method that can be employed to address insulin resistance in individuals with diabetes. The objective of this study was to establish the correlation between anxiety levels and blood glucose levels in individuals diagnosed with Type II diabetes mellitus. The research employed a quantitative correlation methodology with a cross-sectional approach. The study consisted of a sample size of 40 respondents, and the sampling method employed was non-probability sampling using purposive sampling. The findings indicated that a significant proportion of participants, specifically 33 individuals (82.5%), reported experiencing mild anxiety and had elevated blood glucose levels. The Spearman's Rho correlation test yielded a statistically significant result (p-value = 0.017, <0.05). A correlation was observed between the anxiety levels and blood sugar levels of patients diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus at UPTD Puskesmas Kerambitan I in 2021. It is important for individuals with diabetes to prioritize their psychological well-being, particularly by avoiding anxiety as it can negatively impact blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Breast radiotherapy in breast cancer patients often uses CT landmark wires to pinpoint the area of breast scars for appropriate treatment. Most commercial CT marker wires are expensive and made of high-Z materials that cause scratch artifacts. In hospitals, scar markers are made from nylon string with an iohexol contrast medium. This research aims to analyze a simulation of a CT examination in breast cancer cases using a string scar marker with iodine and analyze its characteristics. For this reason, the authors created a new breast CT scar marking wire using nylon rope combined with iodine contrast media in CT simulations of breast cancer cases for treatment planning. Three patients were scanned using a string scar marker developed with iodine for breast cancer in the hospital's CT simulator facility. As a result, using a computer console, the CT number showed this string scar marker had clear visibility and did not produce artifacts. In conclusion, this new string breast scar marker is fast, flexible, and inexpensive. This is beneficial for the treatment of breast cancer patients.
