Abstract

The Wiwitan ritual is an agrarian tradition performed before the harvest as an expression of gratitude to God and ancestors. In its implementation, this ritual contains various cultural practices that contain mathematical concepts, such as patterns, geometric shapes, and measurements. Therefore, this study is geared toward investigating the ethnomathematic elements contained in the Wiwitan metik pari ritual culture in Umbulsari, Jember. A qualitative approach with ethnographic methods was used to uncover the meaning and practices of mathematics integrated into the ritual activities. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and residents, and visual documentation. The findings indicate that local mathematical concepts, passed down from generation to generation, are present in the processes of preparing offerings, arranging the ritual venue, and determining the timing of implementation. These findings indicate that local culture can be a contextual learning resource that enriches mathematics learning in schools. This study recommends the integration of ethnomathematic values in the curriculum to strengthen cultural identity while increasing the relevance of mathematics learning.

Abstract

The learning process involves two main elements, teachers and students, who interrelate and influence each other. Harmonization in their relationship is not only a prerequisite for creating a conducive learning atmosphere but also a foundation for character formation and academic achievement. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe how teacher-student harmony creates a conducive learning climate. The type of research used in this study is a literature study. Data collection for literature studies involves searching, reading, and recording information from various written sources such as books, journals, articles, and reports to uncover theoretical foundations, develop a framework for thinking, and acquire knowledge relevant to the research problem. The stages of the research process include determining keywords, searching for literature using search engines or catalogs, selecting relevant sources, and analyzing and organizing the data to draw conclusions that address the problem formulation. The results of the study indicate that harmonization describes a condition of a harmonious, balanced, and mutually supportive relationship. For teachers and students, harmonization means establishing beneficial communication, mutual respect, and a shared understanding in carrying out the learning process. Harmonious relationships create a conducive, empathetic learning climate that optimally develops students' potential. A conducive learning climate is a learning environment, both physical and psychological, that supports effective learning. This environment encompasses social interactions between teachers and students, classroom management, classroom cleanliness and comfort, and students' feelings of safety and respect.

Abstract

Social media serves as an alternative medium for disseminating da'wah messages, prompting many da'wah practitioners to utilize it as a platform. The complexity of media requires da'i to engage with it, particularly social media, which serves as an efficient medium for da'wah communication in contemporary society. This literature review seeks to assess the efficacy of da'wah messages disseminated through social media based on the beliefs of the Muslim population. A broad examination of the efficacy of da'wah media is necessary due to the rapid evolution and utilization of media. This study uses a literature review methodology, collecting various sources from journals, articles, and books related to the research variables. The literature review is analyzed based on the specifications of the last 10 years, between 2015 and 2025. The findings of this literature review indicate that the efficacy of social media da'wah depends on the frequency and intensity of one's engagement with the media, after which the message conveyed is relevant to the da'wah discourse.

Abstract

This study investigates the application of a thematic approach in social studies learning to improve the activeness of elementary school students. This type of research uses an exploratory qualitative approach. The study was conducted at the YP HKBP Pematangsiantar Private Elementary School. The subjects in this study were fifth-grade students, class teachers, and the principal. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis technique. The results showed that before the thematic approach was implemented, social studies learning was monotonous and did not actively engage students. After the thematic approach was implemented, there was a significant increase in student activeness indicators, such as asking questions, answering questions, discussing in groups, and completing assignments independently. The thematic approach has been proven to be able to connect social studies material with students' real lives, thus creating a more enjoyable, contextual, and participatory learning atmosphere. These findings are supported by the theories of meaningful learning (Ausubel), constructivism (Vygotsky), and active involvement. This study recommends that teachers design social studies learning with a thematic approach in a structured and relevant manner to the students' local context. Research has proven that this approach fosters active student involvement and enhances the overall quality of the learning process at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education in the contemporary era faces challenges in developing the character of students capable of living harmoniously in a multicultural society. This study examines the insertion of a love-based curriculum as an innovative solution in multicultural Islamic religious education. A love-based curriculum is an educational approach that integrates the values of compassion, tolerance, and empathy as the foundation of Islamic religious learning in the context of diversity. Through literature analysis and conceptual studies, this study explores the theoretical foundations, practical implementation, and potential impacts of a love-based curriculum. The results of the study indicate that a love-based curriculum can be a bridge connecting a profound understanding of religion with a tolerant attitude towards diversity. Its implementation requires transformations in learning approaches, teacher competencies, and a holistic evaluation system. This curriculum has the potential to produce a generation of Muslims with balanced spiritual, emotional, and social intelligence, capable of becoming agents of peace in a multicultural society. Implementation challenges include community resistance, limited resources, and the complexity of material development. However, great opportunities are open with the support of religious moderation policies and Indonesia's diversity as a natural laboratory. In conclusion, the insertion of a love-based curriculum in multicultural Islamic education is an urgent need to build a more peaceful and harmonious civilisation.

Abstract

This study intends to analyze the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and its impact on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in English at Islamic Middle School. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This research was conducted at the Islamic Middle School As'adiyah Putra Sengkang. Data analysis was carried out using Michael Fullan's theory of educational change and Deci & Ryan's Self-Determination Theory (SDT) as a theoretical framework. The findings of the study indicate that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at the madrasah has entered a solid implementation stage and is starting to move towards institutionalization. Teachers carry out differentiated learning, provide assignment choices, and create a learning environment that supports students' autonomy, competence, and social connectedness. As a result, students experience improved learning outcomes that cover three main domains: a) Cognitive domain: increased critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and in-depth conceptual understanding through contextual tasks and authentic assessments; b) Affective domain: the growth of intrinsic learning motivation, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility for the learning process; c) Psychomotor domain: the development of presentation skills, collaborative work, and the production of creative work in various learning projects. This study recommends the need to strengthen teacher capacity and provide institutional support to maintain the consistent and sustainable implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Physics learning on Newton's Laws often focuses only on the cognitive aspect, thus under-emphasizing the character and spiritual values of students. In fact, a comprehensive education should foster students holistically, encompassing intellectual, social, and religious aspects. This study intends to systematically examine the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in physics learning as a pedagogical strategy that not only improves students' understanding of Newton's Laws but also shapes their Islamic character. This study uses a systematic literature review method with the PRISMA approach, which involves the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of 125 articles from various databases (Google Scholar, DOAJ, Scopus, etc.), until 30 relevant articles from the last 10 years are selected. The results of the study indicate that PjBL can improve students' conceptual understanding through contextual and collaborative project activities. In addition, PjBL is also effective in fostering character values such as responsibility, cooperation, and honesty, and it can be integrated with Islamic values through a thematic and reflective approach. In conclusion, the application of PjBL in physics learning improves students' cognitive quality and serves as an effective means of forming Islamic character. This study recommends the development of teaching tools that explicitly integrate PjBL with Islamic values.
