Abstract

A misconception is one of the learning obstacles that often occurs in biology class. This study aims to construct a diagnostic instrument to detect misconceptions of biological concepts during the first semester of senior high school and test the quality of the developed instrument. The instrument development model used was a modification of the Oriondo, Dallo-Antonio, and Azwar models. The construction begins with planning the measuring domain and preparing the blueprint for the test instrument. The processes were followed by an instrument seminar, peer review, expert judgment validation, and trying out the test on 885 students. In addition, an unstructured interview with the teachers determines the feasibility of the test instrument. The test content validity according to the Aiken formula is 0.85; the items have different levels of difficulty and good discriminating power; the number of 62 items fits the partial credit model. The reliability of the test is shown by a Kappa coefficient of 0.47. Thus, the test instrument proved to be valid and reliable. Thirteen teachers from eleven schools stated that the test is worthy of use in learning. For the school level, the instrument meets the criteria of a good test instrument.

Abstract

This study discusses the application of the drill method in increasing learning motivation for Jurisprudence for Class VII students. 5 MTs. As'adiyah Puteri II, Sengkang Center, Wajo Regency The main problem studied is the application of the drill method to fiqh subjects and students' learning motivation. This study aims to determine the application of the drill method, how students learn, and how the application of the drill method increases student motivation in MTs. As'adiyah Puteri II, Sengkang Center, Wajo Regency To examine these problems, in this study the authors used descriptive qualitative methods. The approach used is an educational and psychological approach. Through library and field research as well as data collection techniques, the authors conducted observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study stated that learning fiqh using the drill-and-kill method can be seen from the way students learn, most of whom are enthusiastic in responding to each piece of the material taught when participating in the learning process. By using the drill-and-kill method, students can easily understand the subject matter presented. To increase students' learning motivation, subject teachers should often give praise or awards so that students are more enthusiastic about participating in the learning process.

Abstract

The implementation of learning to write paragraphs through the inquiry method using audio media shows a change in behavior in learning in a positive direction. This proves that the application of the inquiry method using audio media can improve the ability to write student paragraphs, both argumentative paragraphs and persuasive paragraphs. Changes in student behavior can be seen in the creative abilities and skills of students who experience changes from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, students generally did not really understand paragraphs and were not able to write paragraphs properly and correctly. In cycle II, students understood paragraphs well and students were able to write good and correct paragraphs. The results of the study show that the application of the inquiry method using audio media can increase learning to write paragraphs. The results of the overall test analysis from cycle I to cycle II showed an increase. Starting from the assessment of the cognitive, affective, to psychomotor domains, it shows an increase.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of forming abbreviations used on Instagram. The method used in this study is observation by taking screenshots and recording abbreviation data. Furthermore, the sample used in this study does not depend on quantity but rather on quality based on the range and depth of the problems studied. The results of this study indicate that the process of forming abbreviations still follows the old pattern, and the new pattern is in the form of only one abbreviation, each retaining the first letter of each component and retaining the first letter with a number. Furthermore, abbreviations that still follow the old pattern and the new pattern in the form of acronyms consist of three respective formation processes, namely the preservation of the first letter of each component, the preservation of the first syllable of each component, the preservation of the first syllable and the preservation of the first letter of each component, and the preservation of the first syllable of the first word and the last syllable of the last word. The various syllables and letters of some components are conserved by the omission of prepositions, and the various syllables and letters of some components are conserved by omission. The second and third patterns are the dominant new patterns used in Instagram social media. The dominant use only pays attention to sound so that it looks slangy and pleasing to the listener's ear without paying attention to its logic.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that aims to describe the ability of students' mathematical problem-solving classes. The instruments in this study were a logical-mathematical intelligence test, a problem-solving ability test, and an interview guide. Data collection in this study was carried out using test, interview, and observation techniques. Checking the validity of the data carried out in this study was a technical triangulation. The results of this study indicate students' ability to solve mathematical problems based on Polya's problem-solving steps: (1) Understanding the problem, subjects who are able to correctly determine what is known and asked about the problem are subjects with high and moderate logical-mathematical intelligence, whereas subjects with low logical-mathematical intelligence are only able to determine things that are known in the problem and have not been able to determine what is being asked in the problem; (2) Develop a problem-solving plan, subjects who are able to develop relevant problem-solving plans to solve problems appropriately and find relationships between things that are known to find things needed in solving problems are subjects with high logical-mathematical intelligence, then for subjects with moderate logical-mathematical intelligence are only able to find connections between things that are known, whereas subjects with low logical-mathematical intelligence are not yet able to devise relevant problem-solving plans and find relationships between things that are known; (3) Carry out the plan, subjects who are able to carry out the steps of the problem solving plan correctly, are skilled in performing arithmetic operations, and find the right solution to the problem are subjects with high logical-mathematical intelligence, while subjects with moderate logical-mathematical intelligence and low ability to carry out a solution plan that is made even though it is not relevant to solving problems and less skilled in performing arithmetic operations, so that the right solution to the problem cannot be found; and (4) Re-checking, subjects who are able to interpret the solutions to the problems that have been obtained and re-examine the steps and calculation results are subjects with high, medium, and low logical-mathematical intelligence.

Abstract

The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design. The population of the study was 942 Senior Secondary public-school II students in Kaura, Kaduna State. 187 Economics students were sampled from the population. Two research questions and hypotheses guided the study. Data was collected using a Multiple-Choice economic Achievement Test. The instrument was subjected to face and content validation by three experts. The instrument was trial tested on SSS II students in Government Secondary School Kagoro, Kaduna State. The reliability was determined using the Kuder Richardson (K-R20) formula to establish the internal consistency of the instrument, which yielded a reliability index of 0.85. The collected data were analyzed using the mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, while the Analysis of Covariance was used to test the hypotheses. The study revealed that using an internet-based instructional strategy has increasing positive effects on students' academic achievement in Economics and that gender is not a significant factor in students' academic achievement in Economics. The study recommends, amongst other things, that Economics teachers should use internet-based instructional strategies in teaching Economics and that teachers and students should be counseled on the need to embrace the internet-based instructional approach.
