Abstract

Study This aim is to determine the effectiveness of the application of the problem-based learning model in learning statistical material for lower-level students. This research was conducted at the As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic Institute. Data collection techniques used are test results studies, sheets of observation activity, and questionnaire responses by students. The results show that: (1) the average score of the results study statistics student before the problem-based learning model is applied is 25.41 and is in the very low category with a standard deviation of 9,688. From the results obtained, 37 students, or 100%, did not reach completeness. Meanwhile, the average score of the results of the study statistics for students after the PBL model is applied is 8.3, with a standard deviation of 9,036. From the results obtained, 35 students, or 9.60%, reached completeness as individuals, and 2 students, or 5.40%, did not reach completeness as individuals. (2) Activity students are in the category of good. (3) Questionnaire responses from students show that responses are positive. (4) Average implementation of learning in the PBL model, which is 3.73, and this means we are in the category accomplished with ok. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the problem-based learning model is effective in teaching statistics to students at the Sengkang As'adiyah Institute of Islamic Religion.

Abstract

The implementation of learning to write paragraphs through the inquiry method using audio media shows a change in behavior in learning in a positive direction. This proves that the application of the inquiry method using audio media can improve the ability to write student paragraphs, both argumentative paragraphs and persuasive paragraphs. Changes in student behavior can be seen in the creative abilities and skills of students who experience changes from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, students generally did not really understand paragraphs and were not able to write paragraphs properly and correctly. In cycle II, students understood paragraphs well and students were able to write good and correct paragraphs. The results of the study show that the application of the inquiry method using audio media can increase learning to write paragraphs. The results of the overall test analysis from cycle I to cycle II showed an increase. Starting from the assessment of the cognitive, affective, to psychomotor domains, it shows an increase.

Abstract

The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design. The population of the study was 942 Senior Secondary public-school II students in Kaura, Kaduna State. 187 Economics students were sampled from the population. Two research questions and hypotheses guided the study. Data was collected using a Multiple-Choice economic Achievement Test. The instrument was subjected to face and content validation by three experts. The instrument was trial tested on SSS II students in Government Secondary School Kagoro, Kaduna State. The reliability was determined using the Kuder Richardson (K-R20) formula to establish the internal consistency of the instrument, which yielded a reliability index of 0.85. The collected data were analyzed using the mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, while the Analysis of Covariance was used to test the hypotheses. The study revealed that using an internet-based instructional strategy has increasing positive effects on students' academic achievement in Economics and that gender is not a significant factor in students' academic achievement in Economics. The study recommends, amongst other things, that Economics teachers should use internet-based instructional strategies in teaching Economics and that teachers and students should be counseled on the need to embrace the internet-based instructional approach.

Abstract

The low level of fulfillment of learning needs is an obstacle for students; besides that, the use of a curriculum that is still based on a rote system and the lack of diverse values result in students being passive in the teaching and learning process.
