Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of doses of Liquid Organic Fertilizer coffee peels and planting media on the growth of Caisim mustard seeds (Brassica chinensis var. parachinensis). This type of research is quantitative. The design used in this study was a randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factor treatment design, namely the addition factor of liquid organic fertilizer dose and the type of planting medium, which consisted of 5 treatment levels with 2 replications. So that 10 experimental units were obtained for each type of planting medium, so that 30 polybags were found with experimental units including 0 ml POC (P1), 5 ml POC (P2), 10 ml POC (P3), 15 ml POC (P4), 20 ml POC (P5) and soil (M1), cocopeat (M2), roasted husks (M3). Parameters observed include stem length, root length, number of roots and number of leaves. Data analysis technique used ANOVA test of variance at 5% level and DMRT follow-up test at 5% level. The results of the ANOVA test showed that the effect of dosing of organic fertilizers was not significantly different on the growth of mustard seeds, whereas the effect of the planting media on the growth of mustard seeds was significantly different and for the planting medium which had the maximum effect was the M3 treatment (burnt husk planting medium) indicated by the highest mean value of several DMRT tests for other M (planting media) treatments.

Abstract

The Rutaceae famili is a citrus plant that is spread throughout Indonesia. These plants are rich with vitamin C, folate and fiber. Rutaceae members have not been well identified until now, especially in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. This research aims to determine various species of plants in the Rutaceae family in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection was carried out by direct exploring inside the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. The results found five species of the Rutaceae family, such as jeruk nipis or lime (Citrus aurantiifolia), jeruk kunci or calamansi (Citrus microcarpa), gongseng or orange berry (Glycosmis pentaphylla), sampang or euodia lunu-ankenda (Melicope lunu-ankenda) and kemuning or orange jasmine (Murraya paniculata).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of toluene on the quality of biodiesel from nyamplung seeds, including: viscosity, density, flash point. The method used is esterification using H2SO4 and then transesterification using NaOH. Biodiesel is then added to toluene. The ratio of the addition of toluene to the volume of biodiesel is 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% (%v/v). The final step is to analyze biodiesel which includes analysis of density, viscosity, and flash point. From this research, which gave the best results by adding 3% toluene, the density, viscosity and flash point values met the standards of the Indonesian Biodiesel Forum. Namely a density value of 0,8415gr/ml, a viscosity of 4,7cSt, and a flash point of 62 °C.

Abstract

Abstract Mangroves are a group of plants that live in coastal areas, which are a group of plants consisting of various species, but have similarities in terms of morphological and physiological adaptation to habitats that are influenced by tides (transitional ecosystems between land and waters around river mouths). Gresik is a district that has a mangrove ecosystem and not much research has been done. This study aims to determine the index of diversity value, important value index and environmental factors of mangroves in Gresik, Kebomas and Manyar Districts, Gresik Regency. Data collection at each observation station was 6 plots with a plot size of 10x10 m. The results showed that the Shannon Wiener (H') diversity value index was station 1 (0.62146), station 2 (1.64737) and station 3 (2.22906). The highest significance index for the category of poles and trees was at station 1 (85.11101), station 2 (24.39005) and station 3 (17.22808). The index of significance value for the categories of seedlings and saplings was highest at station 1 (80,80808), station 2 (52,96099) and station 3 (37,68549). Based on the results of the ANOVA test, the thickness of the mud at stations 1, 2 and 3 did not differ significantly so that it had no effect on mangrove diversity. The results of the salinity ANOVA test at stations 1, 2 and 3 differ significantly so that it can affect the diversity of mangroves. The results of the ANOVA test of soil pH at stations 1, 2 and 3 were significantly different so that it could affect the diversity of mangroves. Keywords: Mangrove, diversity index, important value index, environmental factors, Gresik Regency.

Abstract

The provision of bioactivators is one of the cultivation techniques that can increase soybean production. Bioactivators that can be used are banana weevil with the addition of rice husk charcoal biochar. This study aims to determine the effect of banana weevil bioactivator with the addition of rice husk charcoal biochar with 2 controls, namely 0% negative control and positive control (em4 bioactivator) and 3 treatments namely P1 (10%), P2 (15%), P3 (20 %) in increasing the growth of soybean plants and to determine the optimal concentration of each treatment given. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The research data were then analyzed by using the ANOVA test followed by the LSD test and Duncan's test. The results showed that giving banana weevil bioactivators with the addition of rice husk charcoal Biochar had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the growth (plant height and number of leaves) of soybean plants with the optimal concentration in the P3 treatment with a concentration of 20%.   Keywords: bioactivator, biochar, soybean, banana weevil, rice husk

Abstract

The Buntung and Sinir Rivers are located in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. Until now, both rivers have been used by residents for their daily activities. Therefore, for the safety and health of residents living around these two rivers, it is necessary to carry out HPC (heterotrophic plate count) and coliform tests. The method used is the pour plate and MPN (Most Probable Number) series 5-5-5 tubes. The HPC test results showed that the population of heterotrophic bacteria in the Buntung and Sinir River water samples was 9,5,103 and 7,2,104 CFU/mL, respectively. The MPN values for total coliforms from Buntung and Sinir river water samples were 33.103 and 109.103 CFU/100 mL, respectively. The MPN values for fecal coliforms and E. coli are the same. The MPN values of fecal coliform and E. coli for Buntung and Sinir river water samples were 17.103 and 12.103 CFU/100 mL, respectively. These results show that the Buntung and Sinir Rivers are polluted by organic materials and feces. The population of heterotrophic bacteria and the total MPN coliform, fecal, and E. coli values for both river waters exceed the microbiological standards of Minister of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023 and Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021, so it is not suitable for daily activities.

Abstract

Betta fish is one type of ornamental fish with unique characteristics, namely having an attractive color, to increase the intensity of the color, Betta fish need to be added color pigments and beta-carotene derived from nature in their feed. Yellow pumpkin is known as a fruit and vegetable that contains carotenoids, especially β-carotene. This study aims to determine the effect of adding yellow pumpkin flour in commercial feed on increasing color brightness and growth of Betta fish. Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments and 5 repeats namely P0 (control), P1 (2.5%), P2 (5%), P3 (7.5%), and P4 (10%) for 3 months. The results showed that the P2 treatment produced significant color brightness (P<0.05) compared to control. Betta fish length growth was not significant (P>0.05). The weight growth of Betta fish treated with P3 was significant (P<0.05) compared to the control. The addition of pumpkin flour in commercial feed has been proven to increase color brightness and weight growth in betta fish. Keywords: Betta Fish; Pumpkin flour; Color brightness and growth.
