Abstract

This study aims to examine whether education shapes support for democracy in Pakistan by analyzing nationally representative data from the World Values Survey (WVS) Wave 7 (2017-2022). Based on the modernization theory and the civic culture approach, the study investigates the relationship between individuals’ level of education and their support for democracy within the hybrid political framework of Pakistan. This study utilizes quantitative research design and uses binary logistic regression to examine whether education plays a significant role in supporting democracy. Support for democracy is considered the dependent variable which is binary, and the education level is the independent variable, with age, income, and religiosity as the control variables. The findings reveal that, even though a massive majority of Pakistani citizens demonstrate the support of democracy, education fails to impact democratic support significantly. This implies that it is not formal education but could be because of normative aspirations, political experiences, and unease with dictatorial leadership that drives democratic preferences in Pakistan. The paper finds that the contextual and experience variables are more influential in influencing democratic support in Pakistan than the level of education, which refutes the universalism of the modernization theory in developing and hybrid regimes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the efficacy of Papuan Jasmine (Clerodendrum chinense) leaves as an alternative treatment for boils (furuncles) in Papuan society, as well as to determine how to prepare and use them traditionally. The study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that Papuan Jasmine leaves have traditionally used Papuan Jasmine leaves as a traditional medicine to treat boils because they have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help treat skin infections such as furunculosis, impetigo, and other skin infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The method of use is carried out by heating the leaves over a fire until they wilt, then smeared with pure coconut oil and applied to the affected area. The next day, the boil will burst and the boil will come out. These findings indicate that the use of local plants based on ethnomedicine is still relevant and has the potential to be developed as an affordable alternative traditional medicine for the community

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the contribution of trust and service quality to customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction serving as an intervening variable. This research was conducted among customers of the Sambeng–Lamongan Unit and employed a quantitative research approach. The sample consisted of 100 customers, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire, and the measurement scale used was a Likert scale. The data analysis method applied in this study was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using the SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that trust has a positive effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, service quality has a positive effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, and customer satisfaction has a positive effect on customer loyalty. Furthermore, the results of the indirect effect analysis reveal that trust contributes to customer loyalty through customer satisfaction, and service quality contributes to customer loyalty through customer satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the resilience of Teteinea Jaya Village from the perspective of the Building Village Index (BVI) on the dimensions of rural health, education, economy, and ecology. The method used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological descriptive design to map the status of disadvantaged villages and understand the experiences, perceptions, and social practices of the community holistically. Primary and secondary data were collected through participatory observation, surveys, in-depth interviews, and FGDs, then analysed through BVI index calculations and combined with SWOT analysis. The results of the study show that village resilience is multidimensional and unequal between dimensions, with relatively strong health and ecological resilience, while education and economy are still weak due to institutional limitations, infrastructure, and structural access. Theoretically, these findings confirm the importance of integrating social capital, institutions, and development structures. Empirically, this study recommends strengthening local institutions, regional connectivity, and transforming ecological stability into active mitigation capacity based on community participation.

Abstract

This study examines the public communication of leaders of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) in strengthening national political life in Central Jakarta, focusing on Ulil Abshar Abdalla, Alissa Wahid, and Savic Ali. Using a qualitative case study approach with interviews, observation, and document analysis, the research explores how these figures promote nationalism, moderation, and political literacy through public forums and digital media. The findings show that their communication emphasizes Islamic ethical principles such as wisdom, justice, and tolerance, delivered in an inclusive and persuasive manner to support social cohesion and democratic values. However, several controversies indicate the need for more strategic and structured public communication management within PBNU. Overall, inclusive and ethical public communication by PBNU leaders plays an important role in strengthening national political awareness and integration

Abstract

Scholarly attention to Shaykh Yusuf al-Maqassari (1626–1699) has long been confined to two readings: the Sufi saint and the armed resistance leader. Neither is mistaken, but each leaves out the way his scholarly life itself operated as political action. This study examines how Shaykh Yusuf built transnational networks through the circulation of religious knowledge and how those networks functioned as a structural force against VOC expansion. The argument is reconstructed from Shaykh Yusuf's Arabic and Malay treatises, VOC correspondence from the Cape and Ceylon archives, and Bugis-Makassar hagiographic sources, read against three frameworks: the epistemic network model, which treats knowledge as circulating across geographical and cultural boundaries; the Sufi-warriorism thesis; and the Indian Ocean ulama network framework. The political stakes become legible only when the three are held together. In consolidating five major Sufi orders, Shaykh Yusuf was building authority as much as accumulating spiritual capital. Because the consolidation cut across factional lines, neither colonial administrators nor local rulers found stable ground from which to challenge his legitimacy. His theological shift from Waḥdat al-Wujūd to Waḥdat al-Shuhūd amounts to an epistemological reorientation that prefigures by several centuries what later theorists would articulate as decolonial thought. His successive exiles to Ceylon and Cape Town, far from diminishing his reach, wove him into global circuits extending beyond what the archipelago alone could have afforded. These findings place Nusantara Islam in conversation with cross-cultural liberation theory and offer a fresh angle on scholarship, movement, and resistance under early colonial rule

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines legal certainty-based law enforcement by the Regional Supervisory Council against Notaries who violate the Code of Ethics, with a study focused on the Regional Supervisory Council of Malang City. The research discusses the implementation of Article 67 paragraph (1) of Law Number 2 of 2014 concerning supervision and guidance of Notaries, the dominant factors causing ethical violations, and the obstacles and efforts of the Regional Supervisory Council in realizing legal certainty. This research uses a socio-legal method with an empirical juridical approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the Chairperson of the Regional Supervisory Council of Malang City, while secondary data were collected from laws and regulations, books, journals, the Notary Code of Ethics, and relevant legal sources. The findings show that supervision is carried out preventively through routine protocol inspections and guidance, and repressively through examination of public reports. However, obstacles remain, including weak integrity, incomplete protocols, limited evidence, and limited authority to impose final sanctions. Therefore, supervision must be strengthened to be clearer, more consistent, measurable, and legally certain.

Abstract

This article examines the legal certainty of limits on the use of social media by Notaries as a means of legal education, with a comparative study of Dutch notarial regulations. The issue arises because technological development has encouraged Notaries to use social media to provide legal information to the public, while the Notary Code of Ethics prohibits self-promotion and commercial activities. This creates uncertainty in distinguishing legitimate legal education from prohibited self-promotion. This research uses a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, theoretical, and comparative approaches. Legal materials were collected through library research by examining the Notary Position Law, the Notary Code of Ethics, legal literature, and Dutch notarial regulations. The findings show that Indonesian notarial law does not specifically regulate the use of social media, creating a regulatory gap and subjective ethical assessment. The study concludes that specific guidelines are needed to define educational, transparent, non-commercial, and ethically accountable social media use by Notaries

Abstract

The development of TikTok as a social media platform has driven changes in digital marketing strategies, particularly through endorsement activities by influencers. This study aims to analyze the effect of Trustworthiness, attractiveness, Parasocial interaction, and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on Generation Z’s purchase intention toward products promoted by Reizuka Ari on TikTok. This study employs a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to Generation Z who are active TikTok users and are familiar with Reizuka Ari’s content. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS), including outer model and inner model testing. The results indicate that Parasocial interaction and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) have a positive and significant effect on purchase intention, while Trustworthiness and Attractivenessdo not have a significant effect. These findings suggest that emotional and social factors play a more dominant role in influencing purchase intention compared to rational factors in the context of marketing through TikTok
