Abstract

The educational landscape has changed significantly with technology. It affects how people live, work, play, and learn, wherein technology has challenged how education is managed and the methods and strategies in teaching, particularly in mathematics. This research is experimental and employed the multi-group pretest–posttest design to assess the effects of using technology on college millennial students’ academic performance in mathematics. The control group was subjected to the lecture-discussion method without using technology, while another section served as the experimental group and was exposed to technology-based instructions. The questionnaire was used to gather data from the respondents to determine the extent level of the effect of technology on student’s academic performance in mathematics. The results of the post-test increased significantly, and the experimental group results increased is 2.58 percent higher than controlled group. Teaching using technologies enhanced the student’s academic performance in mathematics, and it was concluded that teaching with the aid of technology is better than lecture type or traditional teaching methods.

Abstract

Indonesia's forests continue to shrink due to forest fires. Indonesia's deforestation rate for 2019-2020 is 115.5 thousand hectares. The use of manual methods for forest monitoring is considered less effective because it requires a long time and a lot of resources. Natural and weather conditions affect the implementation of forest monitoring to prevent forest fires. Based on these problems, the author offers an innovation in FITSBOT (Fire Smart Robot) technology. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The result of this research is a quadcopter with integrated artificial intelligence based on YOLO for forest monitoring. This technology is expected to facilitate forest monitoring in order to take preventive measures and early detection of forest fires.

Abstract

The shallot commodity is an important agricultural commodity for the food economy, its price often experiences a high increase especially when entering the dry season. The current constraints of shallot farming spend more time and energy because the whole process is done manually which makes farmers experience losses and incur more costs. To overcome these obstacles, researchers innovate to offer Smart Shallot Farming, this system can be applied to shallot farming to simplify and save the cost of maintaining shallot plants. This innovation in shallot farming will simplify and save the cost of shallot plant maintenance. The application of Salfarm on shallot farming is expected to be a technological innovation to improve national resilience in agriculture.

Abstract

The widespread use of social media has resulted in its popularity as a teaching and learning platform. In this study, the relationship between the intermediate students' social media exposure and their grammar proficiency, particularly their spelling and use of punctuation marks, were determined. A descriptive-correlational design was used by the researchers and quantitative data were collected using modified instruments such as the social media exposure inventory and grammar proficiency test.  The participants were 143 students from the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of an elementary school located in Eastern Visayas, Philippines. Statistical tools such as mean, percentage, standard deviation, eta, and Pearson correlation were used. The researchers found that there is no significant relationship between students' extent of social media exposure and their grammar proficiency. However. It was also found that students’ age has a low positive correlation with their grammar proficiency. Moreover, future studies may focus on the specific platforms used by other grade levels and their impact on grammar competence.

The contribution of this research is to fill the existing knowledge gap and provide a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of highlighting female students, who are a vulnerable group to exploitation and abuse. This research also pays attention to the negative impact of exploitation content that can harm female students physically, emotionally, and socially. The main motive of female students on social media is because they want to project a pious identity into a place to form a personal popularity existence on behalf of piety. Researchers used the Digital Ethnography approach to identify narratives, images and videos that show the exploitation of female students.
