Abstract

Introduction: Bullying in schools, marked by power imbalance, significantly impacts students’ mental health and increases the risk of depression. Preventive efforts through awareness programs and educational interventions are essential to equip adolescents with skills to address and resist bullying. Objective: The purpose of this activity is to provide information to students, guidance counselors, and student affairs administrators about the impact of bullying on students' mental health. Method: This activity began with bullying screening for all students at SMP N 1 Jatinom Klaten. After all students completed the screening, the researchers analyzed the results and consulted and discussed them with the vice principal for student affairs and guidance counselors to determine which students needed education on bullying issues. Following that, the researchers delivered a 45-minute socialization session together with the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, guidance counselors, and 15 students. The material was presented using PowerPoint with a lecture and discussion method for 30 minutes. Result: The results of this activity from the bullying screening showed that 15 students were victims and perpetrators of bullying. For the participants of the socialization, especially the students, they became more aware of the dangers of bullying to a person's mental health. Conclusion: The overall conclusion of this community service activity shows the effectiveness of the educational approach in improving students' understanding of the phenomenon of bullying and its consequences for mental health.

Abstract

Introduction: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a priority health issue, with one of the main causes being postpartum hemorrhage, which is closely related to anemia in pregnant women. Iron deficiency anemia is the most common condition experienced by women of reproductive age and has serious impacts on both mother and fetus, including increased risk of morbidity, mortality, premature birth, and low birth weight. Although antenatal care (ANC) and iron supplementation have become standard services, these efforts are not fully optimized without the support of social determinants, particularly husband involvement. Husband support plays a crucial role in improving adherence to iron supplementation, achieving a balanced diet, regular ANC visits, and making informed health decisions during pregnancy. However, husband involvement in maternal health practices remains low due to limited knowledge and participation. Therefore, innovation based on husband empowerment through Father Classes is needed as a supporting strategy to optimize anemia prevention in pregnant women on a sustainable basis. Objective: This activity aims to increase husband involvement through Father Class education on anemia prevention in pregnant women. Method: This community service activity uses an educational design with a pre-posttest approach and is implemented through an institutional partnership between STRADA Indonesia University and UPT. The Singkawang Utara I Community Health Center in Singkawang City, with midwives as the primary partner, was conducted from January 5 to 21, 2026, and involved 29 participants, including husbands of pregnant women, cadres, religious leaders, and community leaders who met the inclusion criteria. The activity included preparation (coordination, permits, and situational analysis), implementation of the Father's Class education, and evaluation through pretest and posttest questionnaires. Data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively to compare participants' knowledge levels before and after the educational intervention. Results: Measurements showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge after receiving the Father's Class education. The average knowledge score on anemia prevention in pregnant women increased from 14.72 ± 17.01 in the pretest to 85.14 ± 5.55 in the posttest, with a p-value of 0.000. These results indicate that the educational intervention was effective in increasing participants' understanding of anemia prevention, including the importance of taking iron supplements, achieving a balanced diet, and the active role of husbands in supporting the health of pregnant women. This increased knowledge is expected to form the basis for changes in husbands' attitudes and behaviors regarding their involvement in supporting their wives during pregnancy, particularly in anemia prevention. Conclusion: Community service activities through the Fathers' Class education program have proven effective in increasing husbands' knowledge regarding anemia prevention in pregnant women. The significant increase in knowledge after the intervention indicates that husbands' involvement through an educational approach can be an important supporting strategy in improving adherence to iron supplementation, achieving balanced nutrition, and preventing high-risk pregnancies. Therefore, the implementation of the Fathers' Class program has the potential to become a sustainable intervention model and can be integrated into maternal health services at the community health center level to reduce the prevalence of anemia.

Abstract

Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) is a form of community engagement aimed at integrating the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through the direct application of knowledge in society. This Akhlakul Karimah KKN program was conducted in Dusun 3, Pekon Wonosari, Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu Regency, focusing on improving elderly health through health screening and education on non-communicable diseases. The main issues identified were the high prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus among the elderly and low awareness of routine health check-ups. The program methods included health screening through blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, health education, and evaluation of participants’ understanding. The results showed increased elderly participation in health screening activities, improved knowledge regarding hypertension and diabetes mellitus, and early detection of abnormal health conditions that required referral to healthcare facilities. This program demonstrates that an educative and participatory community-based approach is effective in improving elderly health awareness and self-care.

Abstract

Introduction: Postoperative pain is a common complication experienced by patients and is generally managed using pharmacological analgesics, which may cause side effects. Therefore, nonpharmacological approaches such as guided imagery are needed as complementary interventions in pain management. Objective: The purpose of this service was to increase knowledge and reduce pain levels among adult postoperative patients through education and implementation of guided imagery at RSUD dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Purbalingga. Method: This public service was conducted with 30 adult postoperative patients experiencing mild to moderate pain. The activity included health education using leaflets and the implementation of guided imagery through a 15-minute audio recording. Knowledge levels were assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, whereas pain intensity was measured with the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Result: The study showed that patient knowledge increased, with the proportion in the poor category declining from 93.3% and the majority reaching the good category (83.3%). Pain intensity also decreased from moderate pain (70%) to mild pain (76.7%) post-intervention. Conclusion: Guided imagery education and implementation were effective in improving patient knowledge and reducing postoperative pain, supporting its potential use as a nonpharmacological intervention in hospital-based pain management services.

Abstract

Introduction: The rapid growth of digital media in Indonesia has made access to information easier but has also increased the public’s vulnerability to hoaxes and misinformation, particularly in rural areas. This condition is evident in Molantadu Village, Tomilito District, North Gorontalo Regency, where many residents have fallen victim to online scams and false information. Objective: The purpose of this community service was to enhance the digital media literacy of Molantadu villagers, especially their ability to recognize, verify, and prevent the spread of hoaxes through social media platforms. Method: This public service activity was carried out by lecturers from the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Da’wah, IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, in collaboration with the Government of Molantadu Village. The program consisted of three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. It was conducted in three interactive training sessions over two days, involving 30 participants. Evaluation was conducted through observation, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and reflective group discussions. Result: The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of digital literacy, with an average increase of 47.7% across all measured aspects. Participants demonstrated enhanced skills in identifying hoaxes, verifying factual information, and refraining from sharing unverified content. Conclusion: This community service program successfully improved the digital literacy skills of Molantadu villagers. The findings suggest that a participatory training model emphasizing practical exercises and small-group discussions is effective in fostering critical awareness among rural communities toward digital information. This program is recommended for replication in other villages to strengthen community resilience against hoaxes and misinformation.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is a critical period that greatly influences the health outcomes of both the mother and the fetus. Adequate maternal nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting fetal growth and development, preventing pregnancy complications, and reducing the risk of stunting. In addition to nutritional adequacy, early detection of danger signs during pregnancy is an important preventive measure to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. However, limited knowledge among pregnant women and their families regarding balanced nutrition and pregnancy danger signs often leads to delays in seeking appropriate medical care. Therefore, educational interventions are needed to improve awareness and understanding of these issues. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women regarding balanced nutrition and the early detection of pregnancy danger signs in the working area of Lembang Public Health Center. Method: This activity was conducted through health education sessions involving lectures, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. Educational materials focused on balanced nutrition during pregnancy and the identification of pregnancy danger signs. The effectiveness of the education was evaluated using a pre-test and post-test to measure participants’ knowledge improvement. In addition, health screening was conducted, including hemoglobin examination, measurement of mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), and blood pressure assessment to identify potential pregnancy risks. Result: The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge regarding balanced nutrition, with average scores improving from 62% in the pre-test to 85% in the post-test. Understanding of pregnancy danger signs also increased from 58% to 88%. Furthermore, 90% of participants expressed commitment to regularly consuming iron tablets, and 85% were able to mention at least three pregnancy danger signs after the educational session. Screening results revealed that 20% of pregnant women were at risk of anemia, 15% had MUAC below 23.5 cm indicating risk of chronic energy deficiency, and two cases of hypertension were referred for further medical examination. Conclusion: The educational program on balanced nutrition and early detection of pregnancy danger signs was successfully implemented and resulted in improved knowledge and awareness among pregnant women. This activity contributes to strengthening promotive and preventive health efforts in improving maternal health outcomes and supporting safe pregnancies.
