Abstract

This study aimed to produce a valid higher order thinking skills assessment instrument in terms of content validity. This study was a type of research and development, following a development model that involves the stages of Planning, Production, and Evaluation (PPE). The question items on the instrument developed refer to the cognitive level of analyzing and evaluating based on Bloom's revised taxonomy. The data collection technique used a questionnaire method in the form of a validation sheet given to an expert lecturer as well as two science teachers. Data from the validation sheet was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results of the data analysis showed that the 9 items that had been developed were declared valid by the three validators in accordance with the recommendations for valid item criteria based on material, construction, and language aspects.

Abstract

The research aimed to describe the increase in scientific literacy skills on Vibration and Wave material for students of one of Public Junior High Schools in Sidoarjo after being taught the guided inquiry learning model. This research using pre-experimental design with the type of One Group Pretest-Posttest. The research subjects were 27 students in the class of VIII-D SMP. The instruments used were observation sheets of learning implementation, scientific literacy ability tests, and student response questionnaires. Implementation data analysis method by calculating the average score of each aspect based on implementation criteria. The data calculation method for increasing scientific literacy skills was using N-Gain. The method of analyzing student responses is by calculating the number of positive answers and their percentages. The results of the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model went very well with a mean score of 3.78. The Wilcoxon test gets an Asymp.Sig score of 0.000 (<0.05) so H1 is accepted so that there is a difference in the mean pretest and posttest, besides that positive rank shows an increase in value and indicates the effect of guided inquiry on increasing scientific literacy skills. The average N-gain score is 0.57 with moderate improvement criteria. Students gave a positive response to guided inquiry learning to increase scientific literacy skills with an average positive answer of 82.10% with very good criteria.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the critical thinking abilities of eighth grade students on substance addictions and addictive substances. The analysis of critical thinking capabilities in this study was modified using Ennis indicators such as simple explanations, basic skills, conclusions, further explanations, as well as strategies and tactics. This type of research is descriptive-quantitative. The research subjects used were all the students in the eighth grade of high school. The instrument used in this study is a critical thinking description test. Data collection techniques using test techniques. The data analysis technique used is a calculation of averages that are described based on the results of the calculation. The results of this study showed that the highest percentage score of critical thinking ability was in class D at 17% with an average of 16.26, while the lowest percentual score of critical thinking was in class A at 13% with an average of 11.91.

Abstract

This research aimed to improve student learning outcomes and describe the implementation of learning and student responses to learning using student worksheets based on Problem based Learning on biogeochemical cycle material. This type of research is pre-experimental design, with the research design used being one group pretest-posttest design. The objectives of this research were 1) to determine the increase in learning outcomes after using Problem based Learning worksheet, 2) to find out the response of students after taking part in learning using Problem based Learning worksheet. Based on the research results, analysis of learning implementation shows that learning implementation is quite effective, the N-Gain obtained a score of 0.54 in the medium category, student responses showed a positive response in the very good category. Based on the results of the paired t-est, the value is <0.05. Shows the influence on student learning outcomes by using Problem based Learning worksheets. Data on student learning outcomes obtained a percentage of learning completeness of 61.65% and increased to 82.96% with the completion criteria. It can be concluded that the use of Problem based Learning worksheet can improve student learning outcomes and be effectively applied in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aimed at improving the questioning skills of junior high school students in guided inquiry learning in light and optical devices. This study uses a type of research, namely quantitative descriptive. The data analysis technique used is the n-gain test, the data collection technique uses a questionnaire (questionnaire) and tests. This research involved 30 students from class VIII-C of SMP and 1 science teacher. The results showed that all students already had moderate learning abilities with indicators of ability to ask questions. Therefore, it can be concluded that the high ability to ask students has an effect on science learning outcomes. (1) Students' ability to ask questions can be seen from the average pretest and posttest scores that have increased from 49% to 92% with a maximum score of 75. (2) the implementation of learning to obtain mode percentage> 3. (3) The response questionnaire obtained an average of 95% with a very good category.

Abstract

Learning that involves students directly needs to be implemented because such learning can make students memorable and strong memory. Learning that combines knowledge, skills and experiences from the past or directly to construct, can also make students easy to understand the material. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of experiential learning model integrated with peer instruction. Intervention study design was used in the study with 30 participants in class VIII in one of the junior high schools in Surabaya city. The collection technique used was observation with an implementation sheet and Stalling classroom snapshot. The data results obtained from three meetings were very well implemented. The ? score obtained indicates a good agreement relationship between the two observers. In student activities that are often observed by observers are conducting experiments and discussing. Student activity can be said in learning that runs active students. Engagement with peers can improve students' understanding because they are exposed to their peers' thinking and participate in creating shared understanding. The experiential learning model integrated with peer instruction can make students become active and directly involved in learning, and emphasize experience so that it will be memorable for students. This learning model can be a good alternative for teachers in teaching in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the learning outcomes of attitudes, knowledge, and skills with a Team Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model in science learning human excretory system material at one of the junior high schools in Gresik. The type of research is quantitative pre-experiment with one group pretest posttest design research design which was tested on 30 students. The instruments used are observation sheets (assessment of attitudes, and skills), and test sheets pretest-postest. The data obtained were then analyzed by score analysis and attitude and skill assessment criteria, and test analysis with Shapiro Wilk normality test, Wilcoxon hypothesis test, and N-Gain. The results showed that the application of the TGT cooperative learning model increased, in terms of the increase in pretest and posttest which obtained an average N-Gain of 0.77 in the high category. Attitude learning outcomes also improved from meetings I, II, and III with an average of 82.22 in the very good category. In addition, the students' skill learning outcomes obtained an average of 84.38 with very good criteria. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that the application of the TGT cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to compare the critical thinking skills of students on the application of guided inquiry learning model. The type of research used is quantitative research with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research subjects were 31 students of class VIII-C SMPN 16 Surabaya in the academic year 2022/2023. Data collection techniques using critical thinking skills tests were analyzed by paired t test and effect size. The results showed that there was an effect of applying the guided inquiry model on critical thinking skills as evidenced by the paired t test, namely t-count > t-table or 11.61 > 2.04, then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted and the results of the calculation of the effect size of 0.81 which is categorized as large. Based on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that the application of the guided inquiry learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills on the material of the respiratory system.
