Abstract

The present research aims to determine student learning outcomes after applying the problem based learning model to material on the human respiratory system. This research followed 32 class VIII students at one of the state junior high schools in Gresik for the 2022/2023 academic year. The design used is one group pretest-posttest design. The analysis technique is analysis of learning outcomes using N-Gain. This research can be concluded, namely that science learning in the human respiratory system material through the application of problem based learning techniques achieves complete learning outcomes in knowledge competency with an average score of 85.6. The increase can be seen in the normalized gain pretest and posttest scores of 0.73 in the high category. Based on the analysis of the normalized gain results and the information presented, it can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model improves junior high school students' learning outcomes in science subjects on the human respiratory system.

Abstract

Learning is expected to provide students with the opportunity to acquire important knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed in life. The importance of providing direct experiences and practical activities in learning is to help students develop their competencies in exploring and understanding the surrounding environment through a scientific approach. The purpose of this research is to determine the implementation of guided inquiry learning model based on ethnoscience. The intervention study design was used in the research with 32 participants involved, who were eighth-grade students at one of SMP in Sukoharjo. The data collection technique used was observation with an implementation sheet. The results obtained from the two meetings were carried out very well. The ? score obtained indicates a good agreement relationship between the two observers. In student activities that were often observed by the observer, they investigated scientific phenomena and conducted experiments. Learning activities with guided inquiry learning model based on ethnoscience, students can learn about science and technology used in playing gamelan as well as appreciate the diversity of Indonesian culture. A culturally responsive science learning model can be a good choice for teachers in teaching Science because it can facilitate students to better understand the learning materials.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to make an evaluation tool for critical thinking skills related to the subject matter of the respiratory system. This study used a research and development approach using the Planning, Production, and Evaluation (PPE) framework. The research process consists of three fundamental stages, namely the planning stage, the production stage, and the evaluation stage. The assessment instrument has gone through a validation process involving three validators. Assessment of the validity of the material consists of five aspects that must be examined, one of which is related to the suitability of the questions with indicators of critical thinking. The material validity assessment shows a validity value of 100% which indicates the ability of the instrument to measure the material in question accurately. The assessment of the construction aspect consists of eight aspects that must be reviewed resulting in a validity value exceeding 75% for each item indicating that the developed instrument meets the validity criteria. The assessment of the language aspect which consists of five aspects that must be studied produces a validity value that exceeds 75% for each item so that it shows the validity of this instrument. This shows that the evaluation tool in the form of an assessment instrument for critical thinking skills that has been developed can be declared valid for evaluating critical thinking skills in the material on the respiratory system.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the improvement of junior high school students critical thinking skills in sound material using models Team Based Learning. The type of research used is quantitative research with the method pre-experimental with a plan one group pretest-posttest. The subject of this research involved 30 students. The data collection technique used was the written test method in the form of six essay questions. The data analysis technique used is test n-gain score and the data obtained were analyzed in a quantitative descriptive manner. The results showed that students critical thinking skills in sound material used Team Based Learning experienced an increase in the overall average indicators n-gain score 0.6 with moderate improvement criteria. In order to better improve the model can be done Team Based Learning repeatedly so that students critical thinking skills increase.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills after applying Case Based Learning (CBL) model. The research method used in this study is quantitative research with a pre-experimental design approach (one group pretest and posttest) with the aim of providing treatment to one experimental group without a control group. Furthermore the data was analyzed using normalized gain to see the increase in students' pre-test and post-test. The results of the analysis show that the students' critical thinking skills test results increased by 0.78 so that they obtained the high criteria.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the increase in student learning outcomes using infographic posters in natural science learning. This type of research used pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design. The research subjects used in this study were 21 students of class VIII-H. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, questionnaires, and tests. The research instrument consisted of learning implementation observation sheets, student response questionnaire sheets, student knowledge test sheets. The results of this study are: (1) The implementation of the natural science learning on the respiratory system material as a whole has been carried out in the "Good" category; (2) The average percentage of student responses to the use of infographic posters in natural science learning as a whole obtains a percentage of 88% in the "Very Good" category; (3) Student learning outcomes in the cognitive aspect show that the use of infographic posters in natural science learning increases learning outcomes with an average percentage score of 65% in the category "Effective enough".

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the conceptual understanding of a wave of students who took part in virtual lab-based learning at one of the Junior High Schools (SMP) in Jombang Regency. Comparative study is the type of research used. The study was carried out using two classes where there were 30 people in each class. A two-group pretest-posttest design research design was used in this study. The test method is a data collection technique applied in this study. The results of the study show that students' understanding of the concept of waves in the pretest and posttest using the Mann-Whitney test was obtained respectively 0.546 and 0.058 > 0.05, which means there is no significant difference in both the pretest and posttest in understanding the concept of students' waves between virtual lab-based classes. as well as real lab-based classes. Analysis of the average Normalized Gain (N-Gain) in the virtual class was found to be in the high category.

Abstract

This study aimed at improving students' critical thinking skills through the application of the guided inquiry model in learning material about the human respiratory system. This study was conducted at a junior high school in Surabaya, including 24 class VII-A students. The study carried out was pre-experimental and used a one group pretest-posttest design. This study data was collected through a written test consisting of a pretest and posttest, as well as a questionnaire. The instruments used in this study include pretest and posttest sheets, as well as student response questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test). The results of the study show that students' critical thinking abilities have increased after implementing guided inquiry-based learning. This is supported by the average N-Gain score of 0.63, and the average response questionnaire results of 84% are in the very good category.
