Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation and student responses to the application of guided inquiry assisted by worksheets oriented to Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI). The type of research used is descriptive quantitative with pre-experimental design. The subjects in this study were 32 students of class VIII. The instruments used to collect data were learning implementation sheets and student response questionnaires. The technique of collecting data in this research is using observation and survey methods. The results of the study showed that learning was carried out very well in the two meetings and the students' responses to the learning model received very good responses as shown by an average result of ? 76%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on improving learning outcomes, learning activeness, and student responses to vibration, wave, and sound materials. This study is a quasi-experiment research with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects in this study involved all class VIII students at one of the Islamic Junior High Schools in Situbondo Regency, totaling 62 students. The sample in this study was taken using a saturated sampling technique, where 31 class VIII-A students were selected as the experimental group and 31 class VIII-B students were selected as the control group. Data collection instruments used observation sheets, study test sheets, and response questionnaire sheets. The data analysis techniques used in this research are quantitative descriptive data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The observations of learning implementation showed an average of 96.33% and student activity showed an average of 81.88% with each in the very good category. Through the contextual teaching and learning approach, student learning outcomes experienced an increase in the N-gain score of 76.88% or 0.77 in the high category. Student responses to the contextual teaching and learning approach showed an average of 97.09% in the very good category. So, a conclusion can be drawn that the contextual teaching and learning approach improved learning outcomes and student learning activity.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the perceptions of teachers and students about the Scientific Approach in science learning. This study used a survey method, with the subjects of 2 science teachers and 10 random students from grades VII and VIII who used the inquiry-based scientific approach. The research instruments used, namely learning documents, teacher and student interviews, teacher and student questionnaire sheets, and 10 questions about understanding the scientific approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are document analysis, interviews, questionnaires, and comprehension questions which will later be described. The results of analyzing learning documents and interviews stated that the teacher had compiled complete learning documentation and in accordance with the stages of the Scientific Approach. The implementation of the stages of Scientific Approach by teachers and students obtained from questionnaire analysis stated that learning using Scientific Approach was carried out appropriately, but at the stage of communicating did not go well due to time constraints. The results of the test stated that the quality of student learning using inquiry-based Scientific Approach learning was quite good.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement in collaboration skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students using the PjBL learning model on mixed separation material. This type of research is quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques use observation of collaboration skills, cognitive learning outcomes tests, and distribution of questionnaires. The results obtained from this research show that students' collaboration skills have increased at each meeting, from the collaborative category to very collaborative. Student learning outcomes have increased as evidenced by the average N-Gain score in the medium category. The results of the paired t-test show that there is a significant difference between cognitive learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the PjBL learning model. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PjBL learning model has succeeded in improving collaboration skills and cognitive learning outcomes for junior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement of students’ science literacy competencies through structured inquiry learning on Earth and its satellites material. The subjects used in this study were students in the VII-C grade at Sidoarjo Junior High School. This research used a pre-experimental with one group pre-test-post-test design. This research used science literacy test sheets to collect data by pre-test (before treatment) and post-test (after treatment). The data obtained were analyzed to decide whether or not there was a student’s science literacy improvement after being given learning with the structured inquiry model. The analysis results of the improvement of students’ science literacy competencies with a gain score of 0.68 in the medium category, the results of the pre-test and post-test scores different significant with sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, the achievement of science literacy competency indicators had increased with a medium category in indicator 1 and a high category in indicators 2 and 3.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah menerapkan model kegiatan belajar yaitu menggunakan model inkuiri terbimbing pada materi Bumi dan Tata Surya yang dilakukan di SMP Negeri 54 Surabaya. Jenis penelitian ini ialah pre-experimental dengan one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas VII A SMP Negeri 54 Surabaya. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes dan angket dengan instrumen yang digunakan yakni lembar observasi, tes tertulis (pretest dan posttest) dan angket respons. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan memperoleh hasil bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa meningkat. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan besar skor rata-rata N-Gain yaitu 0,73 pada kategori peningkatan tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dianalisis, bisa diambil simpulan bahwa dengan menerapkan model inkuiri terbimbing pada materi Bumi dan Tata Surya terdapat peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

Pra-penelitian yang dilakukan di SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman memperoleh hasil bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik masih rendah. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan model problem based learning (PBL) berbasis literasi sains. Model pembelajaran ini mendorong peserta didik untuk berpikir kritis, aktif selama pembelajaran dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dalam memecahkan masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik melalui pemberian pretest dan posttest selama pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-experimental, teknik one group pretest-posttest desain, dan subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman kelas VII E sebanyak 28 orang. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif melalui perhitungan uji normalitas, uji t-berpasangan dan uji N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji normalitas pretest memperoleh nilai signifikansi 0.075, dan nilai posttest memiliki nilai signifikansi 0.083. Uji t-berpasangan memperoleh nilai <0.001 dan perolehan N-gain keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 0.51 kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, model PBL berbasis literasi sains dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the SSI-based type-STAD cooperative learning model on scientific literacy skills at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Taman Sidoarjo. This research uses quantitative research using the Pre Experimental Design method, with a research design plan of one group pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed using SPSS with paired t-test results with Sig values. (2-tailed) is less than 0.01 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the SSI-based type-STAD cooperative learning model on Scientific Literacy abilities. The magnitude of significance is measured by Effect Size, the results of the Effect Size on students' scientific literacy abilities are 2.225 in the very large category. This shows that the SSI-based type-STAD cooperative learning model has an influence on students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes and students' responses to the application of the monopoly media-assisted TGT cooperative model on solar system materials. The research method used is pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted at Pamekasan City Junior High School, with 30 research subjects. The data collection technique uses the test method and response questionnaire, with the instruments used being test question sheets and student response questionnaires. The analysis techniques used are N-Gain analysis for improving students' cognitive learning outcomes and quantitative descriptive analysis for student responses. The results of the study show that the TGT cooperative model assisted by monopoly media can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes, as evidenced by the overall average N-Gain score of 0.73 in the high category, and get an average very positive response from students with a percentage of 83%.
