AT TAWASUL: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi Institut Ummul Quro Al-Islami Bogor. Jurnal At Tawasul menyediakan tulisan bagi para praktisi dan akademisi untuk mengembangkan teori, penelitian empiris, dan memperkenalkan konsep-konsep baru di bidang komunikasi penyiaran Islam dan dakwah dalam perspektif yang luas. Jurnal ini membahas isu-isu aktual dalam studi komunikasi Islam, termasuk perkembangan dakwah kontemporer dengan memanfaatkan media, sistem informasi Islam, retorika, literatur, dan kebijakan pemerintah tentang penyiaran dan regulasi informasi. Tujuan dari jurnal ini adalah untuk mempromosikan berbagi pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang isu-isu komunikasi penyiaran Islam. Kemudian menerima donasi dari para ahli, peneliti, praktisi dan pembuat kebijakan di seluruh dunia. Jurnal ini terbit secara berkala dua kali dalam satu tahun, yaitu pada bulan Agustus dan Februari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisa ritual Akatere dalam masyarakat Suku Kajang di Sulawesi Selatan, yang erat kaitannya dengan nilai pengendalian diri dan tahapan identitas. Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam artikel ini yaitu bagaimana ritual adat yang sarat simbol dan peran nilai budaya, serta agama menciptakan identitas sosial. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptip analitik, dengan menggambarkan ritual Akatera masyarakat Suku Kajang, selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori komunikasi interaksi simbolik. Sumber data utama didapat melalui wawancara dan observasi, sedangkan sumber data pendukung didapat melalui artikel jurnal yang sesuai dengan pembahasan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah budaya dan agama dapat saling mengisi dalam masyarakat dengan membentuk nilai-nilai budaya dan identitas sosial.

Abstract

Digital dakwah has become one of the main methods of Islamic communication to strengthen Islamic understanding among millennial generation, which has different media preferences and learning methods compared to previous generations. This study aims to identify effective digital dakwah methods in enhancing Islamic understanding among millennials. The methodology used is library research, analyzing relevant literature on digital dakwah, Islamic communication, and millennial behavior in accessing information. The results show that digital dakwah, which prioritizes the use of visual and interactive platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, is more effective in reaching millennial audiences. Additionally, direct interaction and the timing of delivering messages are also important factors for successful digital dakwah. This research contributes by providing practical guidelines for preachers to utilize digital technology in bringing Islamic understanding closer to the millennial generation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a local wisdom-based da’wah communication strategy to minimize social conflicts in the Muslim community of Aceh. The background of this research stems from the importance of da’wah communication in solving social issues, particularly in communities with strong local wisdom, such as Aceh. The methodology used in this study is library research, collecting and analyzing relevant literature on da’wah communication, local wisdom, and social dynamics in Aceh. The research results show that the integration of Islamic values with local traditions, such as deliberation and the Mukim Customary Law, can enhance the effectiveness of da’wah in creating social harmony. The active role of local leaders, both religious and customary figures, is a determining factor for the success of this strategy. This research contributes significantly to developing contextual and sustainable da’wah approaches, offering a model that can be applied in other regions facing similar social challenges.

Abstract

Seudati is a traditional Acehnese art that has historical roots in the culture and religion of the coastal communities of Aceh. This art was originally a religious ritual in the form of dhikr or meurateeb, which then developed into a performing art full of Islamic values. However, previous scientific studies tend to focus on the aesthetic and entertainment aspects of Seudati, so that they do not delve deeply into the historical dimensions and its role as a medium for preaching. This study aims to fill this gap by examining Seudati from a cultural and religious perspective, using a historical approach to trace its journey, function, and relevance in the modern era. The research method used is a qualitative approach, involving literature studies, in-depth interviews with Seudati practitioners, and direct observation of performances in several regions of Aceh. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive analytical method to explore the relationship between local culture, religious values, and the shifting function of Seudati in modern society. The results of the study show that Seudati has a strong historical value, introduced by the great cleric Syiah Kuala in the 17th century AD. In addition to functioning as entertainment, Seudati is also a medium for preaching that conveys religious messages through Islamic poetry. However, modernization has caused a shift in function from religious rituals to commercial performing arts, which risks reducing its spiritual value. The recommendation of this study is to integrate Seudati into cultural and religious education programs in schools, and to support the regeneration of artists through training and revitalization programs. The implication of this study is the preservation of Seudati as an intangible cultural heritage that not only strengthens Aceh's identity but also becomes a relevant media for preaching in the contemporary context.

Abstract

This study discusses the obstacles to instilling an understanding of religious moderation in the Mustafawiyah Purba Baru Mandailing Natal Islamic Boarding School. Using a qualitative research approach, and also the theory of Socialization and Social Cognitive. The findings in this study are that obstacles to instilling religious moderation must pay attention to the traditions and values of the Islamic boarding school. And while remaining open to the benefits of modernization that can enrich religious education. Furthermore, a literal understanding of religion, lack of training for teachers, teachers or ustadz. Furthermore, there is the influence of media accessed via smartphones. Efforts to strengthen national insight, students. Certain social and political influences that promote extreme or narrow religious views.

Abstract

This research focuses on harmonization of interpersonal communication in minority families in Karo Regency. The aim of this research aims to find out how families from minority areas maintain harmony in their households, looking at the interpersonal communication at home between partners and children. As for other things, does the age of the household also have an impact on the harmony of a happy family? This research is field in nature where the object of the research is observation and in-depth interviews in the Muslim minority area, namely Karo district, with 20 families as informants. The results show that the interpersonal communication of minority couples in the Karo district is naturalistic, the partners are committed to each other both in terms of religion, relationships, parenting styles towards children and taking care of each other's weaknesses/strengths. As for the length of marriage, the age of marriage plays a very important role, apart from being faithful to each other, providing mutual support to one's partner is the key to household harmonization in this research. The shared parenting pattern shows evidence that to create a generation that has good moral character, of course it is the duty of a father and mother according to their function.

Abstract

Da'wah on social media that aims only to seek popularity, viral obsession, and earn lots of money is a bad act, contrary to the principle of monotheism. The above behavior encourages ignoring the validity of information that is contrary to the spiritual mental development of the Muslim community, which is the aim of da'wah. The formulation of the problem in this research is: What are the indications of the realization of the value of monotheism in developing the spiritual mentality of Muslim communities? This qualitative research uses a descriptive approach; the researcher describes the interpretation of monotheism in Surah Al-Ikhlas to serve as the main basis for analyzing the mental and spiritual development of Muslim communities in Indonesia in particular. The findings that the author encountered were, first, that da'wah is not a way to seek popularity; second, da'wah is an obligation while its success is absolutely in God's hands; and third, tawheed is the commander of Da'wah; there is no more powerful force capable of changing the order of society except a movement that only relies on God only.

Abstract

The research entitled "The Influence of TikTok Shop on Lifestyle and Consumer Culture among UIN Jakarta Journalism Students" aims to find out how influential TikTok Shop is as an e-commerce platform for UIN Jakarta students. And does their use of TikTok Shop influence their lifestyle and change them into being consumptive in shopping? This research uses qualitative methods, namely by conducting interviews with 30 UIN Jakarta students. Based on the results of the analysis, researchers found that there is an influence of TikTok Shop on their lifestyle needs and consumer culture. And the TikTok Shop algorithm which is quite sophisticated in recommending products means that students tend to be exposed to relevant items according to their preferences. With very diverse impacts starting from lifestyle, shopping preferences and financial management. It can be concluded that TikTok Shop is not just a shopping platform, but part of the influence of digital culture which actively shapes consumption patterns in the younger generation, especially students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of the internet impacts family dynamics through changes in interaction patterns, family time, and family conflict. This study aims to analyze the effect of internet usage frequency and type on family cohesion, mediated by family time and family conflict. Using a quantitative approach with a survey design, data were collected from 100 family respondents with adolescents aged 13–20 years through questionnaires and analyzed using the PLS-SEM method. The findings reveal that the frequency of internet use negatively correlates with family cohesion due to increased conflict, whereas internet use for educational purposes positively influences family cohesion through family time mediation. This study highlights that online activities, such as gaming or social media, tend to escalate family conflicts, while educational activities enhance family cohesion. Additionally, family time serves as a crucial mediator in mitigating the negative effects of internet usage. With proper regulation, the internet can become a tool for fostering family harmony. This research provides significant implications for families and policymakers to maximize the positive potential of technology while minimizing its risks of family conflicts caused by internet use.

Abstract

Digital technology transformation has significantly impacted Islamic propagation (dakwah), particularly within Indonesia's multicultural society. Digital media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have become primary tools for delivering religious messages, replacing conventional methods. This study aims to explore the utilization of digital media in Islamic propagation and identify the arising social and cultural implications. Employing a qualitative approach based on library research, this study analyzes literature related to digital communication theories and social transformation. The findings reveal that digital media facilitates access to and dissemination of Islamic teachings, enhances inclusivity, and fosters virtual communities that promote spiritual solidarity. However, challenges such as message distortion, low digital literacy, and the risk of disseminating unreliable information also arise. The study concludes that the success of digital Islamic propagation depends on innovative, relevant, and socially adaptive strategies.
