Abstract

This study explores the Sweetech-DM website as a peer tutoring-based educational platform aimed at enhancing blood glucose control motivation among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Sweetech-DM provides information and educational videos created by fellow patients. The objective of this research is to examine the website's impact on patients’ motivation in managing their diabetes. A quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design was employed. The study population consisted of 262 individuals, with 18 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The Treatment Self-Regulation Questionnaire (TSRQ) was used as the instrument to measure motivation levels. The results indicate an increase in motivation for blood glucose control after using Sweetech-DM. Peer tutoring was found to effectively support patients in becoming more motivated to manage their condition independently. Digital educational media that incorporates peer support is considered effective. Sweetech-DM shows potential as a sustainable educational solution for diabetes management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the One-Day Positive Self-Talk Session in reducing anxiety levels among pregnant women. Anxiety during pregnancy is a common condition that can negatively impact the physical and psychological health of the mother as well as the development of the fetus. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Participants in this study were 20 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters who attended a one-day positive self-talk training session. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) before and after the intervention. Data analysis using the paired sample t-test revealed a statistically significant reduction in anxiety levels after attending the training session (p<0.05). The findings of this study indicate that the One-Day Positive Self-Talk Session is effective in reducing anxiety among pregnant women. The implications of this study support the use of brief and practical interventions such as positive self-talk as part of psychological support programs for pregnant women in primary healthcare services and communities.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is a health problem that can increase the risk of pregnancy and childbirth complications. This study aims to analyze the relationship between early marriage and nutritional status with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at the Binanga Health Center. The study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 58 pregnant women selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, measuring the upper arm circumference (MUAC), and examining hemoglobin levels, then analyzed using the Chi-square test and logistic regression. The results of this study show that early marriage and the nutritional status of pregnant women are significantly related to the incidence of anemia. Women who marry at a young age and have poor nutritional status are at a higher risk of experiencing anemia. Therefore, it is necessary to improve education about early marriage and ensure optimal nutrition before and during pregnancy. Intervention programs focusing on nutritional screening and anemia in adolescent girls and prospective brides are crucial to reduce the incidence of anemia in pregnant women and improve the health of both mothers and babies.

Abstract

Hospitals are considered high-risk work environments for occupational accidents. Therefore, the optimal implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system is essential to prevent the occurrence of work-related accidents and illnesses, particularly among healthcare workers serving in hospitals. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge and the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety practices. A quantitative method was employed using an analytic approach with a cross-sectional study design, the sample consisted of 69 nurses. The results of this study indicate that good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is positively related to its implementation at RSUD Haji Makassar. Nurses with good knowledge are more likely to correctly implement OHS standards. Therefore, continuous training on OHS is essential to enhance nurses' awareness and compliance with safety standards. Further research with a larger sample size and direct observational approaches is recommended to understand other factors that influence the implementation of OHS.

Abstract

School-aged children are vulnerable to verbal abuse in educational settings, which can have more serious consequences than physical abuse because it damages mental health and self-confidence. Verbal abuse of school-aged children needs to be addressed immediately because it can damage self-confidence and disrupt emotional and social development at a crucial stage of character formation. A preliminary study at UPTD SPF SDN Cindogo 1 in Bondowoso Regency indicated low self-confidence among students due to verbal abuse. This study aims to analyze the relationship between verbal abuse and self-confidence in school-aged children at UPTD SPF SDN Cindogo 1 in Bondowoso Regency. This study employs a quantitative correlational cross-sectional design. The study population and sample consist of all students at UPTD SPF SDN Cindogo 1 in Bondowoso District, totaling 97 respondents, using total sampling technique. Data were collected through verbal abuse and self-confidence questionnaires, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman Rho test with a significance level of α=0.05. It was found that 65% of students experienced moderate verbal abuse, and 35% experienced severe verbal abuse. Regarding self-confidence levels, 56% had moderate self-confidence, 29% had low self-confidence, and 15% had high self-confidence. The Spearman Rho test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship. The correlation coefficient obtained was -0.343, indicating a moderate, significant negative correlation between verbal abuse and self-confidence among school-aged children at UPTD SPF SDN Cindogo 1 in Bondowoso District. An increase in verbal aggression is correlated with a decrease in self-confidence. Fostering empathy and making schools safe and enjoyable places will have a positive impact on their mental and social development.

Abstract

Quarter life crisis (QLC) is a developmental crisis phase in early adulthood characterized by anxiety, confusion about life direction, and social pressures, all of which can contribute to low self-esteem. Students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Muhammadiyah University of Jember are also not exempt from this phenomenon, which may impact their psychosocial and academic well-being. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach to analyze the relationship between QLC and the risk of low self-esteem among these students. The study population comprised all active students totaling 553 individuals, with a sample of 232 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Quarter Life Crisis Scale and Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale questionnaires, and analyzed with the Spearman Rank (Rho) test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The study revealed that most students were in the low QLC category (46%) and had moderate levels of low self-esteem risk (65%). There was a tendency for higher levels of QLC to be associated with higher risks of low self-esteem. The Spearman test showed p = 0.000 (<0.05) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.523, indicating a significant, strong, and positive relationship between QLC and the risk of low self-esteem. There is a significant relationship between quarter life crisis and the risk of low self-esteem among students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Muhammadiyah University of Jember. The findings of this study recommend strengthening the role of academic advisors in providing psychosocial support, as well as encouraging active parental involvement through open communication and emotional support to help students cope with Quarter Life Crisis and prevent the risk of low self-esteem.
