Abstract

AbstractIndonesia is facing an era of industri 4.0 that causes disruption in the labor market. Higher education institutions are obliged to equip students with life skills through lecturing process. It needs innovation for mathematics learning to give hard skills and soft skills for the students. Learning method that will be tested is Student team achievement division (STAD). The objective of this research is to equip students to face the era of industri 4 by improving soft skill and hard skill through STAD method. This is a classroom action research with students of IT study program of Poliban that learning mathematics II as the object. The study was conducted in two cycles. The dependent variables are Student's Soft skills (communication, discipline, teamwork, and creativity) and Students’ hard skills (test scores). The independent variable is the STAD. Soft skills data were analyzed by calculating the mean of the softskill indicator and the hardskill data by measuring the mean of the test score. In the end, STAD cooperative learning improves students' soft skills, it can be seen from the observation value of each indicator which reaches ≥ 2.4 with the criteria of "Good" results in cycle I and "Very Good" in cycle II. It also improves students’ hard skills, 63.9% student reaches >= 65 in cycle I and 87.1% in cycle II.Keywords: Industrial Revolution 4.0, Hard skills, Soft skills, Mathematics learning,, STADAbstrakIndonesia tengah menghadapi revolusi industri 4.0 yang menyebabkan disrupsi pada pasar tenaga kerja, sehingga kualitas SDM sangat penting. Perguruan tinggi sebagai pencetak tenaga kerja wajib membekali mahasiswa dengan hard skills sekaligus soft skills melalui proses perkuliahan, termasuk perkuliahan matematika. Metode pembelajaran yang diujicoba adalah Student team achievment division (STAD). Tujuan penelitian adalah membekali mahasiswa menghadapi revolusi industri 4 dengan meningkatkan kemampuan soft skills dan hard skills melalui metode STAD. Objek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Teknik Informatika Poliban semester kedua TA 2017/2018 mata kuliah matematika II. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus, dengan tahapan Perencanaan, Tindakan, Observasi dan Refleksi. Variabel terikatnya yaitu: 1) Soft skills mahasiswa (keterampilan berkomunikasi, disiplin, kemampuan bekerjasama dalam tim, serta kreativitas); 2) Hard skills mahasiswa (nilai tes). Variabel bebasnya adalah model pembelajaran STAD. Data softskill dianalisa dengan menghitung rerata skor indikator softskill dalam lembar observasi. Data hard skills dianalisa dengan mengukur rerata nilai tes.  Kesimpulan didapat bahwa STAD mampu meningkatkan soft skills mahasiswa berupa teamwork, kedisiplinan, kreatifitas, dan komunikasi, hal ini terlihat dari nilai observasi tiap indikator yang mencapai ≥ 2.4 dengan kriteria hasil “Baik” pada siklus I dan “Sangat Baik” pada siklus II. Begitu juga Hard skills mahasiswa pada mata kuliah matematika terapan Iidapat ditingkatkan, dimana 63,9% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai >= 65 pada siklus pertama menjadi 91.8 % pada siklus kedua.Kata kunci: Revolusi Industri 4.0, Hard skills, Soft skills, pembelajaran Matematika, STAD

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to analyze the influence towards personal characteristic, preseption and encouragement from other parties towards to Students to select the majors in Accounting department in Politeknik Negeri Batam. This is supported by the number of students in choosing Accounting department in Politeknik Negeri Batam. Moreover, this study used primary data by taking data from Students in the first of semester from Accounting department. The results showed there is a relationship between personal characteristics and encouragement from other parties. Meanwhile, showed 1 hypothesis not supported in this study that there is no relationship perception of students to choose the department of Accounting in Politeknik Negeri Batam. Furthermore, this research can be an input for Politeknik Negeri Batam to see how much interest of student in choosing accounting majors and also for as input for in the future. Based on the study results, the conclusions and contribution for vocational education institutions, is important to improve the quality of applied Accounting department to be able to attract more students interest in choosing this department and to make qualified accounting graduates.Keywords: personal characteristic, preseption, encouragement from other partiesAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti Hubungan antara karakterisktik pribadi, persepsi, dan dorongan dari pihak lain terhadap mahasiswa untuk memilih jurusan Akuntansi di Politeknik Negeri Batam. Hal ini didukung oleh bahwa banyaknya jumlah mahasiswa dalam memilih Jurusan akuntansi di Politeknik Negeri Batam. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dengan mengambil data dari Mahasiswa semester awal dari jurusan Akuntansi di Politeknik Negeri Batam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara karakteristik pribadi dan dorongan dari pihak lain. Sementara itu menunjukkan 1 hipotesis tidak terdukung dalam penelitian ini yaitu tidak terdapat hubungan presepsi terhadap mahasiswa untuk memilih jurusan Akuntansi di Politeknik Negeri Batam. Penelitian ini bisa menjadi masukan bagi Politeknik Negeri Batam untuk melihat seberapa besar minat mahasiswa dalam memilih jurusan akuntansi dan juga untuk sebagai masukan untuk di kedepan hari. Kesimpulan dan kontribusi hasil dari penelitian ini, bagi institusi pendidikan vokasi, penting untuk meningkatkan mutu jurusan Akuntansi terapan untuk dapat menarik lagi minat mahasiswa dalam memilih jurusan ini dan menjadikan lulusan akuntansi yang berkualitas.Kata kunci: Karakteristik Pribadi, Presepsi, Dorongan dari Pihak lain

Abstract

AbstractEducational services that can provide the skills to interact in today's vibrant life-filled dynamics need to be continually nurtured. The learning process which so far tended to be verbalistic and oriented on the subject matter alone and took place one way (one way communication) less able to improve the life skills of junior high school students. This paper discuss how to improve the life skills of junior high school students through existing learning so that they have good character, but using life skill education approach which has a purpose to carry out education in improving Psychosocial Skills and ability overcoming the demands and challenges of everyday life. The learning process with life skill education approach will have a significant impact on educating the character character of the students in junior high school which since elementary school accepting the learning process with pedagogical approach, through life skill education approach will be able to improve the quality of education implementation in school which in turn will encourage the formation of students character as a whole, integrated, and balanced, according to the competency standards of graduates in junior high school, it just needs to be balanced by creative teachers and for that training is required.Keywords: Life Skills Education approach, Education Character, Student, Junior High SchoolAbstrakPelayanan pendidikan yang dapat memberikan kecakapan untuk berinteraksi dalam dinamika kehidupan saat ini yang sarat dengan perubahan, perlu terus ditumbuhkembangkan. Pendidikan harus berakar di masyarakat, memberikan akses yang seluas-luasnya kepada masyarakat, dan dimanfaatkan untuk memajukan kehidupan masyarakat. Proses pembelajaran yang selama ini cenderung verbalistik serta berorientasi subject matter semata dan berlangsung satu arah kurang dapat meningkatkan kecakapan hidup peserta didik SMP. Paper ini membahas bagaimana meningkatkan kecakapan hidup peserta didik SMP melalui pembelajaran yang ada agar mereka memiliki karakter baik, tetapi menggunakan pendekatan pendidikan kecakapan hidup yang memiliki tujuan untuk melaksanakan pendidikan dalam meningkatkan kecakapan dan kemampuan psikososial seseorang untuk mengatasi berbagai tuntutan dan tantangan hidup sehari-hari. Proses pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pendidikan kecakapan hidup akan berdampak signifikan dalam mengembanggkan pendidikan karakter peserta didik di SMP yang sejak di sekolah dasar menerima proses pembelajaran dengan pendekatan pedagogi, melalui pendekatan pendidikan kecakapan hidup akan dapat meningkatkan mutu penyelenggaraan dan hasil pendidikan di sekolah yang pada gilirannya akan mendorong pembentukan karakter peserta didik secara utuh, terpadu, dan seimbang, sesuai standar kompetensi lulusan di SMP, hanya saja perlu diimbangi guru-guru yang kreatif dan untuk itu diperlukan pelatihan.Kata kunci: Life Skills Education approach (Pendekatan Pendidikan Kecakapan Hidup), Pendidikan Karakter, Peserta Didik, Sekolah Menengah Pertama.

Abstract

AbstractThe low ability of Self-Regulated Learning students who mostly come from the remote area in Papua, motivates researchers to conduct research by applying Hypnoteaching in the learning process. One of the reasons for the low ability of Self-Regulated Learning students is the habit of those who have not been able to regulate and direct themselves in learning. Hypnoteaching, also called giving positive suggestions, is expected to be able to direct their minds to change learning behavior to be organized and directed. In other words, this will affect the ability of student Self-Regulated Learning. The purpose of this study was to find out: 1) how to increase the ability of Papuan Self-Regulated Learning after Hypnoteaching was applied in Mathematics Courses, 2) how students respond to the application of Hypnoteaching in Mathematics Courses. This type of research is Classroom Action Research with the subject of research are Papuan students in the Mathematics Learning Design Course at STKIP Surya Tangerang 2017/2018 Academic Year. Data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, field notes, and observation sheets. The data analyzed is only questionnaire data by processing questionnaire scores that are converted into interval data, then determined attitude scores and neutral scores. The results showed that the application of hypnoteaching can improve the ability of self-regulated learning for Papuan students to be better. This can be seen from the percentage of attitude scores related to the ability of self-regulated learning which experienced an increase of initially by 61% in the pre-cycle, increasing to 72% in the first cycle and 74% in the second cycle. Regarding student responses, it was concluded that students gave a positive response to the application of hypnoteaching.Key words: Self-Regulated Learning, Hypnoteaching, Classroom Action ResearchAbstrakRendahnya kemampuan Self-Regulated Learning mahasiswa yang mayoritas berasal dari daerah Pedalaman Papua, melatarbelakangi peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian dengan menerapkan Hypnoteaching dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu penyebab rendahnya rendahnya kemampuan Self-Regulated Learning mahasiswa adalah kebiasaan mereka yang belum bisa mengatur dan mengarahkan diri sendiri dalam belajar. Hypnoteaching yang disebut juga pemberian sugesti positif diharapkan mampu mengarahkan pikiran mereka untuk merubah perilaku belajar menjadi teratur dan terarah. Dengan kata lain hal tersebut, akan berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan Self-Regulated Learning mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) bagaimanakah peningkatan kemampuan Self-Regulated Learning Mahasiswa Papua setelah diterapkan Hypnoteaching dalam Mata Kuliah Desain Pembelajaran Matematika, 2) bagaimanakah respon mahasiswa terhadap penerapan Hypnoteaching dalam Mata Kuliah Desain Pembelajaran Matematika. Jenis penelitian merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Papua pada Mata Kuliah Desain Pembelajaran Matematika di STKIP Surya Tangerang Tahun Pelajaran 2017/2018. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket, catatan lapangan, dan lembar observasi. Data yang dianalis hanya data angket dengan cara mengolah skor angket yang dikonversi menjadi data interval, kemudian ditentukan skor sikap dan skor netralnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan hypnoteaching dapat meningkatkan kemampuan self-regulated learning mahasiswa Papua menjadi lebih baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari persentase skor sikap terkait kemampuan self-regulated learning yang mengalami peningkatan dari awalnya sebesar 61% pada pra siklus, meningkat menjadi 72% pada siklus I dan 74 % pada siklus II. Terkait respon mahasiswa diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa mahasiswa memberikan respon positif terhadap penerapan hypnoteaching yang dilakukan.Kata kunci: Self-Regulated Learning, Hypnoteaching, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas

Abstract

AbstractThe research aims at analyzing semester 1 students’ average abilities of Business Administration Department State Polytechnic of Jakarta in writing expository text in English 1 subject through error analysis approach. The data is then measured by the following standard English grammar books—Harbrace College Handbook (1977), Common Mistakes in English (1982), dan A Practical English Grammar (1982). By qualitative analysis, the research found out that: (1) students made mistakes in verb agreement with the subject and forgot verb/be to fill the predicate slot, (2) students opened a sentence with number or/and sometimes with conjunction, (3) students also forgot to use capital letter to begin a new sentence, as a name of an object, and also made mistakes in noun pluralization, (4) students also still did not know how to make derivational words and how to make noun phrase, and (5) students also did not aware of the function and meaning of the mechanic of writing such as full stop, comma, and semicolon in a sentence construction. Beside that, students came from vocational secondary schools had better writing skill than students from secondary schools; and hence female students proved to have better abilities in English writing skill than the male counterparts.Keywords: error analysis, expository text, final test, writing skillAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa dan mengukur tingkat kemampuan rata-rata mahasiswa semester 1 dalam berbahasa Inggris tulis pada Mata Kuliah English 1 melalui analisis kesalahan (error analysis) terhadap hasil Ujian Akhir Semester 1 yang berupa teks ekspositori. Penelitian ini mengambil tempat di Jurusan Administrasi Niaga, menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik tes menulis. Data yang telah terkumpul diukur kebenarannya dengan menggunakan standar baku pada buku Harbrace College Handbook (1977), Common Mistakes in English (1982), dan A Practical English Grammar (1982). Penelitian ini memperoleh beberapa temuan sebagai berikut: yaitu (1) mahasiswa lupa memasang kata kerja atau to be yang berfungsi sebagai predikat, untuk kesesuaian subjek dan predikat, (2) mahasiswa menggunakan kata hubung dan angka untuk mengawali sebuah kalimat. (3) mahasiswa lupa menggunakan huruf kapital untuk mengawali kalimat atau untuk nama sebuah objek dan bentuk jamak sebuah kata benda (pluralization), (4) mahasiswa belum memahami tentang bentuk kata (derivation) dan kata majemuk (noun phrase), dan (5) mahasiswa belum memahami fungsi tanda baca khususnya “titik”, “koma”, dan “titik koma” pada kalimat. Mahasiswa yang berasal dari SMK ternyata memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik dibanding mahasiswa yang berasal dari SMU untuk membuat teks ekspositori meskipun jumlah mereka lebih sedikit dibanding mahasiswa yang berasal dari SMU. Peserta didik wanita mendapatkan hasil yang lebih baik dibanding peserta didik pria dalam membuat teks ekspositori.Kata kunci: analisis kesalahan, teks ekspositori, ujian akhir semester, keterampilan menulis.

Abstract

This research aims to produce prototype of computer-based business mathematics teaching materials to improve student achievement of Accounting Department, Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB). In this research, to reach the target of teaching materials of computer-based business mathematics, the development using Borg and Gall method with some modifications into five steps: needs analysis and curriculum majoring in accounting, initial product development, education expert validation, small group trial , and large group trials. Trial of small group and large group by involving first semester student of Diploma IV Managerial Accounting Study Program, Accounting Department, PNB. Based on curriculum analysis and needs analysis, teaching materials are developed in the form of modules with Microsoft Excel application and the result of the initial product are five modules with topics of Formula, Linear and Non Linear Functions, Interest Calculation, Annuity, and Linear Programming. Education expert validation using five aspects resulted in an average score of 4.13 (good). Trial of the teaching materials by measuring student perceptions using three aspects for small groups resulted in an average score of 3.81 (good) and for large groups resulted in an average score of 4.23 (good). Furthermore, results of evaluation in large groups indicate a significant increase in mean of student scores from before and after using computer-based Business Mathematics teaching materials

Abstract

Library can be said as the heart of the universities. Politeknik Negri Bali (PNB) as one of the universities in Indonesia currently has one library room located on the 2nd floor of the PNB Central Building. Based on the data, the average number of PNB library visitors in the year 2017 is only 15% of the total civitas. This number shows that PNB library has not been optimally utilized. The purpose of this study is to assess the satisfaction of library visitors to PNB library services, so that the PNB library in the future can provide better service and the number of library visitors can increase. The variables used are five service dimensions, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and emphaty. The method of analysis used in this study are importance performance analysis (IPA) and analysis of customer satisfaction index (CSI). Results shows that there are some services that need to be maintained, such as the completeness of facilities, updated collection, air circulation, locker safety, convenience in finding references, knowledge of employee, hospitality of employee, concern of employee, response of employee, and good comunication between employee and visitors. According to CSI method, the visitors’ satisfaction level is 76,40% which is classified as satisfied.

Abstract

Obviously listening improves speaking skills. Polytechnic graduates are to have business transaction skills. Meanwhile, the time allotment for English class sessions is limited. Therefore, the teachers are to promote students’ autonomous learning through listening. This study investigates how the students major in commerce at an Indonesian polytechnic complete listening tasks and attitudes toward the acquisition of listening skills. Training on how to complete the listening activities through shadowing was carried out with 43 students. A questionnaire was distributed to find out the students’ views on the suggested listening activities and their opinions to improve them. The study found students’ preferences in practicing listening; most employed 1 or 2 or 3 steps. Most include initial listening, reading, and one of the types of shadowing - silent shadowing with reading or synchronized shadowing or prosody shadowing. None of the students was interested in doing silent shadowing. They admitted that their listening most improved their pronunciation and enriched vocabulary. They expected more lecturer engagement in controlling their listening activity. By better understanding the students’ needs and opinions, strategies to encourage autonomous learning can be improved.
