Abstract

The agricultural sector in Indonesia plays an important role in the economy, but there is still significant gender inequality in women's access and participation. This study was conducted in Nagari Api-Api Pasar Baru, Bayang District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. This study aims to analyze the roles of men and women in agriculture and the factors causing gender inequality. The study used a qualitative approach with Harvard model gender analysis. Primary data were obtained through interviews, while secondary data were taken from related agencies and literature. The results of the study show that men's roles are more dominant in agricultural work that requires physical labor, while women more often work as farm laborers with lower wages and limited involvement in decision-making. Although the Minangkabau customary system places land ownership in the hands of women, its management is still dominated by men. The low level of education of women also limits their access to agricultural resources, technology, and training. Differences in wages and workloads show significant gender bias. Cultural factors and gender stereotypes reinforce this inequality, hindering women's opportunities in the agricultural sector. Therefore, more inclusive policies are needed to improve women's access to resources and equal opportunities in decision-making, training, education, and agricultural technology to reduce gender gaps and improve the welfare of female farmers.

Abstract

Einstein's General Theory of Relativity has revolutionized our understanding of gravity by replacing Newtonian gravitational law, which regarded gravity as an attractive force between two masses. In GR, gravity is seen as a manifestation of the geometry of spacetime, influenced by the distribution of mass and energy. This theory successfully explains phenomena such as the bending of light by massive objects and the prediction of the existence of black holes. Meanwhile, Quantum Mechanics, rooted in the works of Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, and Werner Heisenberg, reveals a microscopic world filled with probabilities and uncertainties, as well as phenomena such as wave-particle duality and Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. While both theories have successfully explained phenomena at macroscopic and microscopic scales, the inability to unify General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics remains a major issue in theoretical physics. The fundamental differences between them, particularly regarding the nature of spacetime and determinism, create challenges in formulating a theory of quantum gravity. Various approaches, such as Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) and string theory, aim to unify these two theories, although they still face limitations in experimental verification. Quantum cosmology also opens up space for deeper philosophical reflections on the nature of reality, spacetime, determinism, and the role of the observer in determining physical existence, leading to questions regarding the meaning and purpose of the universe itself within its underlying probabilistic and uncertain framework.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the many degenerative diseases that is currently a serious concern in developing countries, especially like Indonesia. Diabetes mellitus is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, namely loss of function of the body's organs, especially the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels due to damage to insulin secretion. Diabetes mellitus cannot be cured but can be prevented and controlled through diabetes mellitus management such as diet, physical exercise, medication, counseling, and monitoring blood sugar. Whether the treatment of diabetes mellitus is successful or not depends on the sufferer himself. If you do not carry out good control discipline, your blood sugar levels will always be high and will cause various kinds of complications. Because the body does not have enough insulin hormone due to interference with insulin secretion, the insulin hormone does not work as it should or both. Considering the large negative impact of diabetes mellitus, it needs to receive sufficient attention. Therefore, additional food is needed that can maintain blood glucose levels in the body. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of substitution of purple sweet potato flour in cookies on organoleptic quality and fiber content on the effect of substitution of purple sweet potato flour.

Abstract

Acne is a common dermatological condition caused by the bacterial infection of Propionibacterium acnes, leading to skin inflammation. Red galangal (Alpinia purpurata K. Schum) is known to exhibit antibacterial activity due to its essential oil content, flavonoids, and alkaloids. This study aims to formulate and evaluate the antibacterial activity of a gel preparation based on red galangal rhizome essential oil against Propionibacterium acnes. The research follows a laboratory experimental design, including the extraction of red galangal rhizome essential oil via maceration, formulation of the gel, and evaluation of its physical properties, such as pH, homogeneity, spreadability, and antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. The results demonstrated that the gel formulation met the required physicochemical standards, with a pH ranging from 6.4 to 6.8, good homogeneity, and an optimal spreadability of 5–7 cm. The antibacterial test revealed a significant inhibitory effect against Propionibacterium acnes, with an inhibition zone of up to 11.24 mm at a 15% concentration. These findings suggest that red galangal rhizome essential oil possesses strong antibacterial potential, making it a promising candidate for natural topical acne treatment. In conclusion, the red galangal essential oil gel exhibits favorable antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and has potential as an alternative acne treatment. Further studies are necessary to enhance the stability and efficacy of the formulation for optimal clinical applications.

Abstract

XX has been carrying out sanitation operations using soap sold on the market, which is made from chemicals and is not environmentally friendly. Chemical soap can have an impact on water pollution because the chemicals are difficult to decompose and can disrupt aquatic ecosystems and harm living creatures in them. Plus, managing chemical soap waste also requires additional costs for the company. This research is a continuation of previous studies which aimed to develop environmentally friendly products, with a focus on developing eco-enzyme based liquid soap. This research method is an experiment in the field to test theories or develop products, by applying the Cold Process method in making antiseptic liquid soap. The results of this research show that liquid soap from eco-enzyme has great potential as an environmentally friendly alternative for cleaning and is effective in inhibiting the growth of E. coli bacteria, and the organoleptic test shows that the majority of respondents gave positive responses, with 66.7% stating the color of the soap is attractive, 66.7% assessing the aroma as very good, 50% stating the cleaning quality is very good, and 46.7% assessing the amount of foam in the good category. From an economic perspective, there is a 32% cost savings from substituting liquid soap on the market with eco-enzyme liquid soap.

Abstract

This study aims to extract iron(III) oxide (Fe₂O₃) from iron rust waste using a leaching method with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and oxalic acid (H₂C₂O₄). After the leaching process with acids, precipitation was carried out using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution. The variation in acid type was conducted to evaluate the leaching effectiveness based on the Fe₂O₃ yield obtained. The results showed that HCl was more effective in dissolving Fe₂O₃ compared to H₂C₂O₄. The yields obtained from each acid type were 64.44% for HCl and 24.39% for H₂C₂O₄. The precipitation process was performed at a pH of 5–7 to ensure the formation of a stable Fe(OH)₃ precipitate before being dried into Fe₂O₃. Qualitative analysis using potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) (K₄[Fe(CN)₆]) confirmed the presence of Fe³⁺ ions in the final product from both acid treatments. This method has proven to be effective in obtaining high-quality Fe₂O₃ that can be used in various industrial and research applications. Additionally, this study contributes to the utilization of iron rust waste as a valuable precursor material for direct use or further processing while also reducing environmental pollution.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has significantly enhanced operational efficiency by enabling companies to process data more effectively and make better decisions. In a highly competitive global market, distributors face major challenges, including shorter product life cycles and fluctuating customer demand. These factors impact stock and production management, necessitating more accurate predictive solutions to optimize production planning. This study aims to compare the performance of ARIMA, LSTM, and GRU models in sales forecasting using time series forecasting methods. ARIMA represents a traditional statistical approach, while LSTM and GRU, based on deep learning, are capable of capturing complex data patterns. The models are evaluated using MSE, RMSE, MAE, and MAPE metrics. The results indicate that LSTM outperforms other models with a MAPE of 10.76%, followed by ARIMA (11.23%) and GRU (11.47%). LSTM excels in identifying long-term trends and seasonal patterns, while GRU achieves nearly comparable accuracy with a shorter training time. ARIMA, despite its simplicity, struggles to handle non-linear patterns. These findings provide valuable insights for companies in selecting the most suitable predictive model to optimize supply chain management, enhance operational efficiency, and support more informed decision-making.
