Abstract

Background: One of the local wisdom products that is widely used by the Dayak community to reduce the adverse effects of sunlight is Dayak powder or cold powder. Made from rice mixed with several local herbs, Dayak powder is used to treat skin health and beauty. Dayak powder has the potential to be an alternative to protect skin health from the threat of UV radiation. In this study, the sample used was in the form of nanoparticles. Utilization of technology in the field of nano materials is expected to be able to improve its bioactivity performance and comfort of use when compared to conventional Dayak powder Objective: This study aims to determine the activity of sunscreen and the physico-chemical characteristics of Dayak powder nanoherbal preparations. Methods: The sunscreen activity test was carried out in vitro using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Determination of the value of the sun protection factor (SPF) is read at a wavelength of 290-320nm. In addition, the physico-chemical characteristics of the preparation were also tested including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersion and adhesion. Results: The test results obtained that the SPF value of nanoparticle-sized Dayak powder at a concentration of 200 and 400 ppm was in the minimal protection category (SPF 1-4 value) while for a concentration of 600ppm both were in the medium protection category (SPF value 4-6). The results of the test of orgoleptis characteristics and homogeneity did not change until day 14. The pH test showed the result of 5.87. The dispersion test without load showed an average diameter of 2.47 cm and adhesion of 2.33 seconds. Conclusion: The SPF value obtained at a concentration of 400ppm is in the moderate protection category. The preparation meets the requirements of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersion and adhesion

Abstract

Background: Annona muricata leaf are empirically used to treat a wide variety of diseases. One of the potentials of leaf as antioxidants because they contain flavonoid compounds. This study used a polar solvent, ethanol 70% and methanol to extract flavonoid compounds in leaf, the use of different types of solvents will affect the total flavonoid levels produced. Objective: Knowing the effect of differences in the type of solvent ethanol 70% and methanol on the total flavonoid levels of leaves and qualitative detection of flavonoid compounds. Methods: The study used a pre-experimental method, making Annona muricata leaf extract using the maceration method by comparing 70% ethanol solvent and methanol then flavonoid compounds were detected qualitatively using color reagents and thin layer chromotreography then determination of flavonoid levels with UV-Vis Spectrophotometry and data analyzed with the One Way Anova test. Results: The results of the qualitative detection test showed positive results of flavonoid compounds and the total flavonoid levels produced by ethanol extract were 70% and methanol were 6.79 mg QE / g and 9.25 mg QE / g. The results of the One Way Anova test analysis showed that the difference in the type of solvent had a significant effect on the total flavonoid levels of Annona muricata leaf extract. Conclusion: Differences in solvent types have a significant effect on the total flavonoid levels of Annona muricata leaf extract with the highest levels produced by methanol solvents of 9.25 mg QE/g.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Kalangkala (Litsea angulata Bl) is a typical plant of South Kalimantan which is empirically used by the community in the treatment of boils. One of the compounds contained is flavonoids, flavonoids have many pharmacological activities, one of which is as an antibacterial. Flavonoids can be extracted with several solvents based on the level of polarity, one of which is n-hexane which has non-polar properties.Objective: To determine the chromatographic profile and total flavonoid content of the n-hexane fraction of Kalangkala (Litsea angulata Bl) leaves by using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method.Methods: This study used an analytical observational method to determine the chromatographic profile of flavonoids and descriptive observation in determining the total flavonoid content of the n-hexane fraction of Kalangkala (Litsea angulata Bl) leaf using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry.Results: The results of the identification of the compound showed that the leaves of Kalangkala (Litsea angulata Bl) were positive for flavonoids. Meanwhile, in the chromatographic profile, the eluent capable of detecting flavonoid compounds was n-Hexane: Ethyl acetate (8:12) with seven stains. The results of the determination of the total flavonoid content of the n-hexane fraction of Kalangkala leaves (Litsea angulata Bl) was 8,367 mg QE (Quersetin Equivalent)/g.Conclusion: Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of the n-Hexane fraction of Kalangkala leaves (Litsea angulata Bl) showed flavonoid compounds with the best eluent n-Hexane: Ethyl acetate (8:12) and the total flavonoid content of the n-Hexane fraction of Kalangkala (Litsea angulata Bl) was 8,367 mg QE(Quercetin Equivalent)/g.Keywords: Litsea angulata Bl, Total Flavonoid, n-Hexane

Abstract

Background: The Barito River has been polluted by ammonia caused by the rubber factory so that the fish that live around the river are positive for high ammonia compounds. This is quite dangerous for health if you often consume fish caught from the river. The fish in question is catfish which is a type of Lawang fish. Reducing ammonia levels in fish can be done in various ways, one of which is by using natural ingredients, namely wuluh starfruit which contains saponins. Objective: To determine the potential of wuluh starfruit filtrate to reduce ammonia levels in catfish of the Lawang type. Methods: The type of research carried out is Pre Experimental design, then this research design is carried out in the form of Post test only and group design and data analysis using One way Anova and then using a sampling technique with Purposive Sampling. Results: The treatments used were concentrations of 25% , 50% , 75% and 100%. The results showed that the filtrate of star fruit wuluh can be used to reduce ammonia levels in fish. The higher the concentration, the greater the decrease in ammonia levels in fish. Conclusion: The filtrate of star fruit wuluh has the potential to reduce ammonia levels in catfish of the Lawang type with an optimal concentration of 100%.

Abstract

Background: Diarrhea is an infectious disease which is still the highest case in Indonesia. Drug therapy currently used as the drug of choice in diarrheal diseases is chloramphenicol class of antibiotics. It is known that treatment using chemicals is more prone to causing unwanted side effects. To deal with this problem, efforts need to be made in the form of exploring the latest therapies to kill bacteria. New therapeutic sources that can be found from plants that have the potential as antibacterial. Objective: This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of the n-hexane fraction in the extract of bajakah wood (Uncaria tomentosa) by testing its inhibition and killing power by observing the minimum inhibition and minimum killing of Escherichia coli bacteria. Methods: This study used a true experimental type of research in the manufacture of extracts using the maceration method and the antibacterial activity test method used the disc diffusion method and continued with the dilution method with concentrations of 100,50,25,12,5, and 6,25 ppm and the inhibition concentration was determined. minimum and minimum kill concentration. Analysis of this data using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney test. Results: The results of the antibacterial activity of the n-hexane fraction of bajakah wood (Uncaria tomentosa) against Escherichia coli bacteria with an inhibition zone of 7.72 mm. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference with a p value of 0.005 at Kruskal-Wallis and at Mann Whitney showing a p value of 0.05. minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) showed clarity at a concentration of 50 ppm. Conclusion: The n-hexane fraction of pirated wood against Escherichia coli bacteria has a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) at a concentration of 50 ppm. However, it does not have a minimum kill concentration (MKC).

Abstract

Background: Baung fish are fish that live a lot in fresh waters that have nutrients and protein. Baung fish are demersal fish that like to forage at the bottom of the waters that may be contaminated by heavy metals such as lead that settles on the bottom of the water. Lead is a substance that can pollute waters and is found as a contaminant caused by coal barges in the Kahayan River area. Objective: To determine the reduction of lead (Pb) levels in Baung Fish using Kaffir lime filtrate Methods: This research uses True Experimental with Post Test Only Control Group Design. The test method is carried out quantitatively. The quantitative test method uses Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry with a wavelength of 283 nm. Data analysis used ONE-WAY ANOVA. Results: The results obtained based on quantitative analysis obtained less significant data using kaffir lime filtrate 75% with time intervals of 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes with a total decrease in fish 1 at 30 minutes by 0.183 at 60 minutes by 0.086 and at 90 minutes. of 0.113. In fish 2 minutes to 30 decreased by 0.125 at minute 60 by 094 and at minute 90 by 0.365. At the 3rd minute to 30 fish decreased by 0.338 at the 60th minute by 0.080 and at the 90th minute by 0.083. Conclusion: The administration of kaffir lime filtrate with a concentration of 75% with different time intervals (30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes) showed that there was no significant effect on reducing lead (Pb) levels using immersion time intervals.

Abstract

Catfish is a fish whose consumption potential is quite high in the community, but its utilization is not optimal, due to the presence of a number of urea in meat which is easily decomposed into ammonia, reducing ammonia levels in meat can be done in various ways, namely by using natural ingredients, one of which is lime. which contains citric acid which can reduce ammonia levels. Objective: This study aimed to examine the potential of lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) filtrate in reducing ammonia (NH3) levels in catfish (Pangasius pangasius). Methods: This research uses True Experimental with Post Test Only Control Group Design approach. The method used is a quantitative test using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. Data analysis using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney. Results: The results obtained that all positive samples contain ammonia and lime filtrate has the potential to reduce ammonia levels with a total decrease in concentrations of 25% = 1.36, 50% = 1.01, 75% = 0.69, and 100% = 0 ,19 . The decrease in ammonia levels is due to the denaturation process that occurs due to the citric acid content in the lime filtrate. Conclusion: Giving lime filtrate with different concentrations, namely, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% showed a significant effect on reducing ammonia levels in catfish. And the best concentration for reducing ammonia levels is at a concentration of 100%.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is the most common disease suffered by the people of Indonesia,because the level of adherence to taking medication is one of the behaviors that shows that the low rate of adherence can increase the recurrence rate of hypertension so that it can lead to complications. There are several approaches that can be given to improve adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs, which can be give an education with an approach to percepstion of vulnerability and perception of benefits through a video-based media. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of education with a perception vulnerability and perception benefits in changing the behavior of hypertension patients in the Sub-district of Dusun Tengah. Methods: True experimental research with pretest and posttest control group design approach. Sampling was done by stratified random sampling. The research sample amounted to 88 patient. The data was obtained by using a questionnairewhich was distributed. There are two groups used, namely the control group and the intervention group. Results: The result of statistical analysis using ordinal regression test with a p-value 0,000 which a significant on the provision of education with a perception vulnerability and percepstion benefits approach in changing the behavior of hypertensive patient through a video media. Conclusion: There is an effect of providing education with a perception of vulnerability and percepstion of benefits through video media in changin the behavior of hypertension patients in the Sub-district of Dusun Tengah.

Abstract

Background:Pneumonia is an acute lung parenchymal infection which is the second leading cause of death in children after diarrhea. The cost of antibiotic treatment for pediatric pneumonia in 2015 was estimated at US$109 million per year. The difference in the cost of antibiotics and other costs incurred by the patient causes the need for pharmacoeconomic analysis with cost minimization analysis methods. Objective:This study aims to determine the minimum antibiotic therapy in pneumonia patients under five at the Sultan Suriansyah Hospital Banjarmasin between ampicillin and ceftriaxone. Methods:A retrospective study with a cross sectional study design through medical records and details of patient financing in the period January - December 2021. Statistical data analysis used was the Independent T-Test and Mann Whitney test. The number of samples in this study was 33 patients with pneumonia in children aged 0-10 years. Result:The results of the study for the average total cost of patient care during hospitalization with the characteristics of patient costs including drug costs, hospitalization costs, doctor visit fees, consultation fees, nutritional services fees, nursing action costs and other supporting costs are Rp 1,872,469 for ampicillin and Rp. 1,709,564 for ceftraixon with p value < 0.05 for the cost of the drug, which means there is a significant difference while the other costs have p > 0.05 which means there is no significant difference between the two drugs. Conclusion:Minimal antibiotic therapy in the treatment of inpatient pneumonia in children is ceftriaxone, with an average cost of Rp. 1,709,564 compared to ampicillin, which is with a total average of Rp. 1,872,469 and there is a significant difference in cost between the two drugs.

Abstract

Background: Serum has high concentration but low viscosity. A facial serum that has a fairly good absorption ability on the skin, the release of the serum's active substances is good and easy to apply on the face. Jasmine flowers contain ingredients that can inhibit staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and shigella flexneri bacteria with a concentration of 12% which is one of the bacteria that can cause acne. Objectives: To determine the appropriate formulation of the jasmine (jasminum sambac L.) serum gel preparation and to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of hydroxyethyl celullose on the physical evaluation of the (jasminum sambac L.) jasmine flower extract serum gel formulation. Methods: The research used was a quasi-experimental with varying concentrations of hydroxyethyl cellulose 1 gram,2 gram, and 2.5 gram. Serum gel was evaluated for organoleptic physical, homogeneity, spreadability, dry time, adhesion, pH, and viscosity. Result: The results of the observations on the viscous liquid organoleptic test and the homogeneity test of homogeneous preparations. The results of the most optimal dispersion test were formulation 1, the most optimal dry time was formulation 1. The results of the most optimal adhesion test were formulation 1, the most optimal pH test results were formula 2, and the viscosity test all entered the optimal criteria. Conclusion: The most optimal jasmine flower extract serum gel is formulation 1, with a concentration of 1 gram.
