Abstract

Brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) infestation remains a major constraint to rice production in Indonesia, highlighting the need for environmentally friendly pest management through bioinsecticides. This study aimed to analyze factors influencing farmers' interest in adopting bioinsecticides for brown planthopper control. Conducted in Pendowoharjo Village, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, the research involved members of the Subur Farmer Group with a population of 52 farmers. A total of 46 respondents were selected using simple random sampling. Primary data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results revealed that education, farming experience, extension worker role, and government support simultaneously had a significant effect on farmers' interest, with an R² value of 0.773 (77.3% of variation explained). Partially, education (B=0.321; p=0.024), farming experience (B=0.425; p=0.005), and government support (B=0.311; p=0.044) had positive and significant effects, while extension worker role (B=0.054; p=0.722) was not significant. Farming experience was the most influential factor. These findings indicate that farmers' internal capacities and institutional support play crucial roles in promoting the adoption of environmentally friendly pest control innovations. However, the findings are limited to a single farmer group context, so broader generalization should be made with caution.

Abstract

Wonosari Tea Agrotourism is a plantation-based tourist destination in Malang Regency with considerable potential, yet it faces multidimensional management challenges. Domestic tourist visits during 2016–2025 fluctuated significantly, indicating management dynamics and potential pressures on the area's long-term viability. Ecological, economic, socio-cultural, infrastructure, and institutional pressures may also affect sustainability. This study aimed to analyze the sustainability status of Wonosari Tea Agrotourism using the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) method through the Rapid Appraisal for Agrotourism (Rap-Agrotourism) approach. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires involving managers and visitors across five dimensions, each with six attributes. Results showed that the overall sustainability index reached 72.88, categorized as moderately sustainable. The ecological (77.13), socio-cultural (79.13), and institutional (91.02) dimensions were classified as sustainable, while infrastructure (67.22) was moderately sustainable. The economic dimension obtained the lowest score (49.88) and was categorized as less sustainable, making it the primary priority for improvement. Sensitive attributes in the economic dimension include ticket and product pricing and tea product processing. Therefore, agrotourism management should focus on strengthening the economic dimension through optimizing these sensitive attributes to support overall sustainability and enhance the long-term viability of the area.

Abstract

Food consumption diversification is a crucial effort to achieve food security and improve public nutrition in urban areas. The Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) program was initiated as a strategic policy to enhance food availability, accessibility, utilization, and household income through optimizing yard land. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the P2L Program in Madiun City based on these four indicators. Using a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method, sampling employed Proportional Stratified Random Sampling resulting in 80 respondents. The unit of analysis was limited to 15 active P2L groups out of 58 registered groups in Madiun City. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, then analyzed using effectiveness achievement percentages. Results showed that the average effectiveness of the P2L Program among active groups was in the highly effective category (87.64%). Food accessibility recorded the highest score (93.25%), followed by household income (87.38%), food availability (85.13%), and food utilization (84.80%). The high achievement in accessibility demonstrates that the program successfully brings food sources directly to the household level. However, these findings are limited to active groups serving as a best practice model and thus do not reflect the condition of the other 43 unproductive groups. Abstract

This study analyzed the performance of broiler chicken farming at a partner farm of PT. Mitra Sinar Jaya (MSJ) Nagekeo Branch and developed alternative business strategies using the Logical Framework Approach (LFA). A case study was conducted on one partner farm (Mrs. Apolonia To Sada) during the fourth production period of 2022 in Watu Gase Village, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency. Business performance was measured through costs, revenues, income, and R/C ratio. LFA analysis included stakeholder analysis, problem analysis (problem tree), objective analysis (objective tree), and strategy analysis. Total revenue reached IDR 713,795,500.00, total costs were IDR 630,268,213.00, resulting in an income of IDR 83,527,287.00. The R/C ratio was 1.13, indicating that the business is profitable but remains vulnerable to feed price fluctuations. Recommended development strategies include: partner farmers expanding coops, optimizing capital, and increasing capacity; PT. MSJ Nagekeo Branch expanding markets, providing regular supervision, and prioritizing fair harvests for open and semi-closed coops; and the government offering guidance on financial management and proper broiler maintenance.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic encouraged people to take up new hobbies, including cultivating ornamental plants at home. This study analyzed the level of institutional strengthening of ornamental plant farmer groups in Bogor Regency, identified the factors that significantly influence it, and formulated post-pandemic strategies. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, the study involved 54 respondents from three sub-districts (Gunungsindur, Cijeruk, and Tamansari) quantitative analysis using SEM-PLS (SmartPLS 4) was complemented by in-depth interviews to deepen the interpretation of the quantitative findings. On average, respondents were 42 years old, had junior to senior secondary education, around eight years of farming experience, and managed 447 m² of land. Farmer innovativeness was moderate, whereas media exposure remained low. The initial model (Model 1) indicated that environmental factors and farmer group role jointly influenced institutional strengthening (Y1 = 0.097X2 + 0.664X3; R² = 49.1%). After trimming the non-significant environmental factor, the final model showed that farmer group role was the only significant predictor (path coefficient = 0.699; R² = 48.9%). Post-pandemic interventions should therefore prioritize strengthening farmer group roles to enhance group capacity and member capacity.
