Abstract

Malaria is one of the most common mosquito-borne infectious diseases in the world. Globally, deaths due to malaria infection reported in 2019 amounted to 405,000 deaths with a total number of sufferers of around 228 million cases. Although malaria cases have continued to decline in the last five years, including in Southeast Sulawesi Province, there are still regencies/cities in Southeast Sulawesi that have not been free from malaria. Therefore this disease continues to be a burden of pain. This study is a descriptive study using secondary data on positive confirmed malaria cases from the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Health Office. This study aims to describe malaria cases in Muna Regency during the period from 2016 to 2020 based on epidemiological variables, namely people and time. The results showed that positive confirmed malaria cases in Muna Regency from 2016 to 2020 showed a significant decline. From the people variable, the majority 56.95% of positive confirmed malaria cases were men and only 43.05% were women. Meanwhile, based on the time in five years of observation, the highest prevalence of confirmed positive malaria occurred in 2016 and the lowest in 2020. Malaria prevention and control programs need to be carried out strictly to reduce morbidity and achieve malaria elimination programs in Muna RegencyKey words: Malaria, confirmed positive, people, time.

Abstract

Children's growth and development is one of the focuses in health development. Based on a survey of Indonesian nutrition studies, the prevalence of malnutrition in Indonesia is still high. The high number of cases gives an idea that there are still many babies who have growth problems. Such growth is closely related to weight. One of the ways to increase weight is with the baby spa method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Baby Spa on increasing the weight of babies aged 6-12 months at the Cinta Medika 4.0 clinic in 2022. This study uses a quasi-experimental approach with a one-groups pre and posttest research design. The sampling technique is based on the cross-sectional method with a total population of 30 babies and the samples used are 30 babies. Based on the sipel paired test results in the Baby group, the Asymp value was obtained. Sig (2-tailed)=0.000 or pvalue < 0.05, meaning that there is an effect of baby spa on increasing baby weight. Conclusion: The influence of baby spas on the increase in baby weight proves that baby spas increase weight faster in babies.

Abstract

Background: Mortality rate of COVID-19 infection isexceptionally high in the older population. Various vaccines are being rapidly developed as an attempt to halt the pandemic. Although vaccination has been effective in reducing mortality and hospitalization rate in recent months, lower vaccine effectiveness has been reported among older adults.Aim: This review aims to evaluate and summarize current evidence on the effect of age on antibody response towards COVID-19 vaccines. Methods: Literature search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect and ProQuest for studies published up to 9th October 2022. The selected studies were assessed The Joanna Briggs critical appraisal tools. Qualitative analysis was then performed for the final studies.Result: A final of 9 studies were included in this review. A majority of the studies evaluated the responses of BNT162b2 or mRNA-1273 vaccine, while 1 study investigated the response towards ChAdOx1 vaccine. Outcomes were measured in term of IgG antibody levels or serum neutralization. Most studies demonstrated significantly lower antibody response and neutralization in older adults compared to younger vaccinees after administration of first and second vaccine dose. However, two studies reported no significant difference in vaccine responses across age groups after third dose administration. Conclusion: This systematic review highlights lowerimmunogenicity towards COVID-19 vaccines in older population. Further research into strategies to improve vaccine responses in the elderly is required to provide sufficient protection for this vulnerable group. Keywords: COVID-19 vaccine, antibody, neutralization, age, elderly
