Abstract

This study explores the application of Neo-Vernacular architecture principles in the design of the Floating Resort at Pantai Liang, Central Maluku Regency. The resort integrates traditional Maluku elements with modern technology to create a sustainable, comfortable, and culturally harmonious tourist environment. The design emphasizes using local materials, stilthouse structures, and triangular roofs inspired by traditional Baileo houses. Modern technologies, such as energy-efficient glass and advanced insulation systems, ensure guest comfort without compromising cultural values and environmental sustainability. The results indicate that Neo-Vernacular architecture enhances the tourist experience, contributes to cultural preservation, and supports environmental sustainability. The study also provides recommendations for further development, including incorporating more local cultural elements, renewable energy systems, cultural education facilities, and further research on the long-term impacts of this architectural approach.

Abstract

Travel is very important to reduce stress because traveling is now one of the most popular things among daily activities. South Sulawesi is one of the provinces in Indonesia whose tourism sector is growing rapidly. Sembilan Island, which consists of nine small islands or islets, is located in Sinjai Regency and is one of the places to visit in South Sulawesi. This island is only 12 miles from the center of Sinjai City. In the process of designing a resort hotel, it is important to understand the design approach needed and the design foundations needed. The research methods used are data collection methods and data analysis methods. Data collection methods consist of field surveys, literature research, and precedent research, while data analysis methods are processing or analyzing data that has been collected to help the next planning process. These two methods will help determine the formulation of the problem and how the principles of green building design are implemented through the EDGE method. The results of this study aim to apply design with site analysis that meets so as to produce building design output that can adapt to the surrounding environment. From the research results, it can also be concluded that in this research process, it will be carried out as a design method for the design of the Larea-rea Island resort hotel in Sinjai Regency with the theme of applying the EDGE method, which applies the principle of green building to create sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings using renewable energy, namely solar photovoltaic with a roof area of 1,032.79 m² and a power of 150.99 kWp; the second is material efficiency, namely the use of light steel and wood materials on the roof of the building; and the third is water saving, namely grey water wastewater treatment.

Abstract

In building design, the futuristic approach is crucial as it focuses on creating structures that serve the future. A futuristic image reflects buildings that keep up with the times through their design expressions, with dynamic, aesthetic, and innovative values, particularly in the technologies used, such as free-form shapes and advanced, environmentally friendly systems. The application of futuristic architecture in both the exterior and interior of the e-Sport Centre continues to evolve to enable visitors to play, train, and compete in video games. A descriptive-qualitative analysis is applied to three case studies in this research. The findings show that the futuristic concept is most apparent when the form and appearance of the building contrast with the surrounding environment. More unique and asymmetric forms, along with the use of the latest structural technologies, enhance the implementation of this futuristic concept

Abstract

The Pet Center in Makassar City offers a solution to the growing need for interaction between pets and their owners, considering the high interest in pet ownership and the development of pet enthusiast communities. However, there is currently no adequate facility that allows pets to walk or gather in an environment that is friendly to both humans and animals, creating the need for a pet- and human-friendly space. This pet center is designed to facilitate comfortable and safe human-pet interactions. The design process incorporates an analysis of animal behavioral characteristics, which is integrated into the design concept to tailor the space to reflect traits such as activity, curiosity, and friendly, playful personalities of pets. The "attractive" concept is realized through spatial layouts that enable harmonious interactions at every corner and accommodate diverse functional spaces to support the activities of visitors and their pets. The Makassar Pet Center design results in a multifunctional public building offering interactive spaces and comprehensive facilities, creating a pet-friendly environment that enhances the city’s social and recreational experiences.

Abstract

Redesign is the activity of planning and redesigning a building so that physical changes occur without changing its function, either through expansion, changes or moving locations (John M). Darul Huffadh Tuju-Tuju Islamic Boarding School is one of the Islamic boarding schools in Bone Regency, Bone Regency is one of the regions in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Islamic architecture is a form of unity between human culture and the process of human devotion to God, which is in harmony with the relationship between humans, the environment and the Creator. Islamic architecture reveals complex geometric relationships, hierarchies of forms and ornaments, and deep symbolic meanings. The redesign of the Darul Huffadh Tuju-Tuju Islamic Boarding School was based on various considerations, apart from the number of classes which was not possible for the students, also the function of the building which was not as it should be and the physical condition of several buildings which were no longer suitable for use. The application of Islamic Architecture in the Redesign of Islamic Boarding Schools is due to the similarity in efforts to restore and implement Islamic values in various physical and metaphysical aspects of the building through the concept of Islamic thought which makes the building show more Islamic nuances in the interior and exterior of the building, such as: a. the use of roster materials in buildings. b. addition of natural stone with calligraphic relief, use of geometry. c. the use of calligraphy both interior and exterior in buildings, choosing natural colors that are synonymous with a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere.
