The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. This research paper investigates the poetic nature of the lyrical heritage of Nodim Namangoniy, one of the prominent figures of Uzbek literature and the Kokand literary environment in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Within the framework of textual and structural analysis, the article examines the poet's mastery in employing semantic (tazod/antithesis, tanosub/harmony, talmeh/allusion, husni ta'lil/poetic etiology) and verbal (ishtiqoq/derivation, tajnis/pun, iyhom/amphiboly) rhetorical devices within his ghazals. The study reveals that while remaining faithful to the conventions of traditional Eastern poetry, Nodim Namangoniy utilized these figures of speech not merely as formal embellishments, but as a driving force to illuminate the ideological-philosophical pathos of the artwork and the psychological dynamics of the lyrical protagonist. Furthermore, the rhythmic cadence, linguistic neologisms, and the series of classical cognate words characteristic of the poet's oeuvre are evaluated in terms of their role in ensuring the structural integrity of the ghazals.

Abstract

This article examines effective and accessible strategies for teaching vocabulary to young children, focusing on methods that can be applied by parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators in everyday settings. Vocabulary acquisition during early childhood lays the foundation for later literacy, academic success, and communication skills. The article discusses practical techniques such as labeling objects, using picture books, songs, role-play, repetition, and interactive questioning. It also highlights the importance of a language-rich environment and consistent adult-child interaction in fostering vocabulary growth. The aim is to provide a clear, evidence-informed overview of simple, low-cost methods that support meaningful language development in children aged two to six.

Abstract

Abstract: Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) has undergone significant methodological changes over the past decades. Traditional teacher-centered methods, which emphasize grammar instruction, translation, and memorization, have gradually been complemented or replaced by student-centered approaches that focus on communication, interaction, and learner autonomy. This article presents a comparative analysis of traditional and student-centered methods in EFL teaching. The study examines their theoretical foundations, classroom practices, roles of teachers and learners, and impact on language skill development. Special attention is given to speaking, motivation, learner engagement, and communicative competence. The findings indicate that while traditional methods are effective for developing grammatical knowledge and reading comprehension, student-centered approaches are more successful in improving communicative skills and learner motivation. The article concludes that a balanced integration of both approaches can lead to more effective English language teaching in modern educational contexts.

Abstract

Annotation: This article examines the theoretical and methodological potential of multimodality theory and digital semiotics in the study of contemporary Internet discourse. The aim of the research is to identify the mechanisms of meaning-making resulting from the interaction of verbal and non-verbal semiotic resources in digital communication. The study employs multimodal discourse analysis, social semiotic analysis, cognitive-linguistic analysis, and pragmatic analysis. The study further demonstrates that multimodal elements play a significant role in constructing virtual identities, expressing emotions, and enhancing communicative effectiveness. The results contribute to the development of multimodal discourse studies and provide a framework for investigating digital communication across different linguistic and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of semantic losses and semantic gains in the translation of realia—culture-specific words and expressions that denote objects, phenomena, or concepts characteristic of a particular nation. The study analyzes how the transfer of linguocultural realia across linguistic boundaries inevitably involves both loss of source-culture meaning and acquisition of target-culture meaning, creating a dynamic of semantic transformation that complicates traditional equivalence-based approaches to translation. Drawing on translation theory, cultural linguistics, and comparative analysis of Uzbek-English and English-Uzbek translation examples, the research demonstrates that semantic losses and gains operate across multiple dimensions including denotative, connotative, associative, and pragmatic levels. The article argues that the translator's task is not to eliminate semantic losses—which is theoretically impossible—but to strategically manage the balance between losses and gains in accordance with the translation's communicative purpose and the target audience's interpretive needs.

Abstract

This article explores the interrelationship between syntax and poetic rhythm in literary texts, focusing on how syntactic structures contribute to the formation of rhythm in poetry. The study examines the ways in which word order, sentence length, grammatical inversion, and structural parallelism influence rhythmic patterns in poetic discourse. Drawing on linguistic and stylistic approaches, the paper argues that poetic rhythm is not solely a phonological phenomenon but also a syntactic construct shaped by the arrangement of linguistic units. The analysis demonstrates that syntax plays a crucial role in creating aesthetic effects, emphasizing meaning, and guiding emotional perception in poetry. The findings suggest that poets intentionally manipulate syntactic structures to achieve rhythmical balance, tension, and expressive depth.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the systemic analysis and classification of professionally significant qualities of a primary school teacher. Working with children aged 6–11 requires a unique combination of psychological, pedagogical, cognitive, and personal characteristics. The author structures these qualities into four main interrelated groups: professionally-personal, professionally-pedagogical, cognitive, and reflexive-professional. The paper highlights the specific nature of primary education, where the emotional, volitional, and humanistic characteristics of a teacher often play a more critical role in a child’s adaptation and development than purely academic knowledge.

Abstract

This article analyzes the linguogeographic features of the vocabulary of Karluk-type Uzbek dialects. The study examines the territorial distribution, areal characteristics, and interrelations of lexical units specific to Karluk dialects based on linguogeographic maps. Using dialectological materials, the scope of usage, variants, and distribution boundaries of particular lexical items are identified, and the historical, ethnic, and social factors influencing their formation are explained. The article also reveals the relationship between the vocabulary of Karluk-type Uzbek dialects and the standard Uzbek language, as well as its areal connections with other dialects and subdialects. The findings of the research are of significant scholarly importance for Uzbek dialectology, linguoareal studies, and the geography of Turkic languages.

Abstract

This article provides a linguistic analysis of Mahmud az-Zamakhshari’s work “Al-Mustaqsa fi amsal al-Arab.” The structure of the treatise, the semantic and structural features of Arabic proverbs, and a comparative analysis of Arabic and Uzbek proverbs are examined. The article demonstrates that Zamakhshari’s analytical method — combining lexical, historical, and grammatical analysis — remains relevant for contemporary comparative paremiology and linguoculturology.
