Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the significant difference on writing competence between extrovert and introvert students at the second grader of Junior High School Miftahul Ulum Sumbermanjing Wetan Malang. There were 25 students as the samples chosen by using Purposive Sampling. This research used quantitative approach and the type of the research was a causal comparative. In conclusion, there is a significant difference on students writing competence between extrovert and introvert students. The result showed that introvert students better than extrovert students in writing competence. Because the result of this research was in line with the theory stated that introvert is better in writing skill, so the researcher gives suggestions in order to the teachers apply different method, technique or strategy in teaching writing that is suitable for both of them. So, it is not only focus to introvert students who tend to be superior in writing but also to extovert students too Keywords: Comparative Study, Extrovert, Introvert, Writing Competence.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the most important aspects in the language learning process to express ideas, feelings, experiences and knowledge, therefore students need the video method to facilitate learning activities. This study aims to explore student learning under the age of 12 to make it easier and feeling fun when learning. This research is a Qualitative research which consists of one class. Involved me as a researcher and English teacher from 10 students of the English For Kids level Bahasaku Inggris Course Pare Kediri. The steps of this research are reconnaissance, action planning, implementation and observation of the actions taken. The data of this research is qualitative. Qualitative data obtained by observation the teaching and learning process during the implementation of the action. Data were collected in the form of transcripts of the questionnaire. The research findings show that the implementation using video in speaking learning is effective in improving students' learning. Keywords: Speaking learners, Online Class, Video

Abstract

Every human being has at least one language, both spoken and written. The language contains basic or certain rules that form, combine, and express meaning that changes because words in language are combined differently through combinations in syntactic studies so that language has an important role in human life as a means of communication.This is actually the realization of the written examples.The Purpose of this research was to find out the non-standard and standard English words and to find out the tree structure in the Mac Miller song lyrics.Then, the writer choosessongs to analyze because studying songs does not just analyze the metaphorslanguage, word meaning and language style, but also analyze how non-standard English words can be used as standard English words by converting them with several tools such as phonological processes and basic grammar which in the song the English standard has been found the writer analyzessentence structureused in one of the lyrics to a song from Mac Miller's album entitled "Circles".In analyzing the data, the writer uses several appropriate theories with a subject for analyze sentences into each sentence content. This thesis uses a qualitative descriptive method. Steps in taking and the data collection are listening songs on the album "Circles" by Mac Miller, searching the lyrics of the internet, copying the lyrics of the songs to be analyzed, reading and identifying the non-standard English word and converted into standard English word using instrument for standardizing English words and the last make tree structure from the sentence or phrase. Moreover, the result after analyzing the data, the writer finally found fifteen rules in sentence structure and found thirty non-standard English word sentences in the lyrics of the song. Considering the importance of understanding sentence structure, especially in the study of syntax, the writer makes some suggestions, for students from English Department, other researcher who will conduct studies related to topics and the writer hopes that this thesis can be used as a reference or compare how non-standard English with their daily non-standard language and for those who are interested in studying syntax studies. Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the types of speech errors, the frequency of errors, and the causes of Speech Eerrors of Girl Environment Activist’s Speech in Plastic Health Summit 2021. The type of this research is qualitative. The data are the utterances containing speech errors. The data was collected from videos watched on the plastic soup foundation YouTube account entitled Plastic Health Summit 2021 - Ms. Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani (Nina), with a duration of 7:38 (seven minutes and thirty-nine seconds). The researcher finds six types of speech errors based on the theory of Clark and Clark. There are 28 speech errors uttered by Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani with the frequencies as follows: silent pause (eleven times), filled pause (nine times), retraced false start (three times), repeats and interjections (two times), and stutters (one time). There are three causes: cognitive difficulty, anxiety, and social reason, this is caused by the occasional lack of concentration while the speakers say, and their concentration being hampered by the surrounding environment. There are many speech errors committed by Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani which mean that she needs to increase her ability to deliver her speech smoothly and clearly. Abstract

This research discussed the deconstruction of characters, which aimed to deconstruct a binary opposition between the main character and minor character in SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run. The researcher used note taking as an instrument to get the valid data. Primary data in this study was taken from the dialogue of the characters in the "SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run" and watching in YouTube to get the data needed including the movie. So, secondary data in this study was taken from the movie and dialogue scripts in the movie by some of the characters in the movie. The findings showed that the main character in this movie was SpongeBob. SpongeBob is brave enough to defy a seven- seas king in order to save Gary, his pet. SpongeBob was portrayed as a brave, unique, and never-given-up to realizing his purpose. And the minor characters in this movie played an important role in the movie because they formed the basis for SpongeBob’s character to be a brave boy. Abstract

This study was conducted to know the effectiveness of song lyric text on students’ vocabulary mastery at SMPI Al Ikhlash Kasembon in seventh grade. This study used pre-experimental research design with one experimental group only. The population in this research was seventh grade of SMPI Al Ikhlash Kasembon Malang consisting 24 students. The researcher used pre-test and post-test in multiple choice consisting 21 items format then the data was analyzed by t-test using SPPS version 30.After collecting data, the calculation of the data resulted the average (mean) score of pre-test and post-test.The mean score of pre-test was 25.0 with standard deviation was 14.166. Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test was 76.0 with standard deviation was 25.160. In testing hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula. The result of t-test is -10.345 at the level of significance of DF is 23 and the Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.00 at the 95% confidence interval of the difference. Based on SPSS, the result is 0.00<0.05. The Sig. (2-tailed) was lower than 0.05 so it means that there was significant between pre-test and post-test. So, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis could be accepted. It means that the using of Song lyric text give positive effect to the students’ vocabulary. Abstract

The aims of this study are (1) to find out the types of idiomatic expressions used in Cinta Laura's vlog. (2) To describe the meaning of the idioms used in the vlog by Cinta Laura. In analyzing the data, this study uses content analysis techniques by comparing the data, and verbally describing, then interpreting the findings to make conclusions. Moreover, the research found 24 idiomatic expressions from5 content youtube vlog vidio Cinta Laura. Where each vlog vidio content has a different duration. Then from the 24 idiomatic expressions, 11 idioms were found that belong to the idiomatic type use by Cinta Laura based on the theory of FacitilyO’dell and McCarthy. There are 6 types of idiomatic expressions based on theory Facility O’dell and McCarthy, of wich only 4 conveyed by Cinta Laura in someof her vidio vlog. and of the 4 types found by the researcher, the one that is often used in idiomatic expressions in the vlog vidio is the type of idiomin the formof a fixed statements found in the idiomatic expressions and the second is in the formof proverb of idiomatic expressions which are include in the proverb types, thereare 2 types, while the third, namely the idiomatic types in the formof cliches asmany as 2 idiomatic expressions, and the last type of idiomatic in the formof binomials, namely only there is one idiomatic expression that belongs to this type. Abstract

Language learning cannot be separated from philosophy because philosophy is the mother of science. In its development, language learning was influenced by the philosophy that developed at its time, including analytic philosophy. The influence of Analytic Philosophy is felt in language teaching, especially in semantic and pragmatic research. And Russell's theory of Logical Atomism opens new horizons for scientific research, including linguistics. On the other hand, semantics is an image which is then continued by the theory of meaning used by Wittgenstein as an early study of semantics and pragmatics. Furthermore, the analytical philosophy developed by The Oxford School develops a theory of speech acts that naturally influence language learning, learning is a speech act of language learning. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the types and the meaning of interjection in the WhatsApp group. The research employs descriptive qualitative approach pragmatic since this research is conversation analysis the data were collected from the dialog or conversation student in WhatsApp group. The result of the research that The types of interjection that found in this group namely, the interjection of wonder, interjection of gratitude, interjection of hope, interjection of  invitation, interjection of surprise, interjection of admiration or satisfaction and interjection of annoyance.  The most frequently found part of interjection of wonder. There are three word of interjection wonder namely, haduh, loh kok bisa and leh. There are several meanings of interjection found by researchers, namely, the meaning of sadness, the meaning of wonder, the meaning of annoyance, the meaning of hope, the meaning of surprise, the meaning of invitation, the meaning of gratitude and the meaning of admiration.  Keywords: pragmatics, types and meanings of interjection, whatsapp group.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating speech act behind the slogan of "kuliah Sak Ngajine". Theory of speech act employed is the one belonged to Austin which consists of three kinds i.e. locution, illocution, and perlocution. Based on qualitative method used it is discovered that locutionary act of this slogan refers to having studying both common academic learning and Islamic courses. Illocution act of this slogan imply that Kuliah Sak Ngajine is having learning process followed by irfani values in order to make values of kepesantrenan emerge. Perlocutionionary act of Kuliah Sak Ngajine slogan indicates that not all the students implement learning process by irfani values properly. Keywords; slogan, speech act.
