Abstract

This article discusses how the humorous elements of the short animated film Once Upon a Snowman are conveyed to Indonesian by means of translation using subtitle media. The analysis in this study aims to find out whether humor in English is also considered funny in Indonesian. The results of the study show that there is complexity in translating humor using language features. The animated film Once Upon a Snowman adopts an interpretive-communicative translation method and in doing so several compromises are made. Abstract

This research is aimed at investigating of improving vocabulary using Tik Tok Application at Mts Mambaul Ulum Gumukmas. The type of this research is classroom action research (CAR). Classroom action research is a study that consists of several stages in one cycle, namely preparing, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting data, researchers used three methods, namely observation, interviews, and tests. The result that can be conveyed are: (a)In the preliminary condition, the students' vocabulary ability is still below the minimum completeness criteria value with an average value of 61.19, (b) The application of video tiktok in learning in the classroom is known to have a positive effect on the development of students' vocabulary skills, in the first cycle it is known that after conducting two meetings on the final test it is known that the average score of children has increased to 75.38, and (c) The application of tiktok videos in the second cycle is known to have increased again from 75.38 in the first cycle, in the second cycle it has increased to 81.76, so it can be concluded that the application of tiktok videos has a good influence on the process and results of vocabulary learning. Abstract

Children aged four and five served as the research subjects for the study "Vocabulary  Acquisition of Children in Roudlotut Taaibin (Non-Formal Education)". The goal of this study was to compare the amount of vocabulary learned by four- and five-year-old children who were categorized based on the terms they used. This research is descriptive qualitative since it looks at linguistic phenomena across a certain time period. According to the findings of this study, four-year-olds acquire more vocabulary than five-year-olds do. On average, four- and five-year-olds acquire 100 more words in just eight minutes. Furthermore, the nouns that they occupied in the first sequence were the most typical words that four- and five- year-old children learned. Abstract

Writing is skill that important to owened by learners because when learners want to writing education essay or education home work they must writing correctly. This study analyze students perception of the use free writing in EFL classroom that to improve writing skill. This research is to know students preception of use free-writing on EFL Classroom. The research usa a descriptive quantitative and using quisionaire to data collection that consist of fouftheen question as the research instrument. In this reseacher, reseacrher get 26 EFL students as the respondent from EFL students of English Education study program at Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kediri. The results of this study show that participants had positive responses toward free writing in the class. Participants apparently felt that free writing was an effective way to teach writing, helping them improve their writing and stay motivated Their feedback and responses indicate general agreement to free writing as a beneficial teaching strategy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of speaking anxiety of pre-service teacher English, avoid anxiety by knowing the causes and overcome anxiety in learning in the classroom. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 15 students of IAI Al- Qolam who had already Experience Practice. Data is taken from questionnaires and interviews where the questionnaire consists of 10 questions with 4 choices, namely agree, strongly agree, disagree and strongly disagree to find out the level of anxiety of pre-service teacher English. Based on the results of the study, it can be said that the factors that influence the anxiety level of pre-service teacher students are that of the fifteen subjects, data is obtained. The influencing factors are the lack of vocabulary, low self-confidence and lack of teaching experience. The impact of teacher candidates' speaking anxiety is a lack of confidence in teaching, finding it difficult to concentrate and a lack of interaction with students. Strategies for overcoming teacher candidates' speaking anxiety are to prepare well, study teaching materials carefully, improve English skills, practice the material to be taught, ask for support from colleagues and school staff so they can share experiences and evaluate. Abstract

This study was conducted to improve the students’ writing skill through mind mapping technique of the eleventh graders at MA Al-Fatwa. As stated in statement of research problem ‘’ How can students’ writing skill of descriptive text be improved through mind mapping technique’’ Furthermore, this study employed a Classroom Action Research method. This research was conducted based on Kemmis & Mc Taggert, (1988) model, there are; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research was also carried out in two cycles. In data collecting, the researcher used three kind of instruments, there were; test, questionnaire and observation checklist. The result of the research on the cycle 1 showed that the average scores on students’ writing skills were 70. On other hand, the average scores on students’ writing skills were still below the KKM, it is 75. The result on students’ writing skill on the cycle 2 were 78.18. While, there were 27.2% of students who did not pass the KKM. It was also proved by the result on students’ perception and students’ behavioral changes during classroom process. The students got joyful classroom atmosphere during the lesson. It can be assumed that students’ writing skill can be improved through mind mapping technique

Abstract

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) means learning English in a non-English speaking country such as Indonesia. By learning EFL, EFL educators encourage students to improve their English skills through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In writing skills, teaching vocabulary has crucial points. Focusing on learning English vocabulary, this research took a case in several schools in East Java. Under a qualitative case study, the researcher addressed two main methods to two Indonesian EFL students in Malang and one Indonesian EFL teacher in Banyuwangi and Tulungagung. By using reflective essays and virtual interviews as the methods, the data concluded that most of the challenges found had similarities and related to each other. Along with the challenges, the researcher also discovered strategies done by all of the participants to resolve the problems, enrich the student’s vocabulary and improve the student’s writing English skills. Abstract

This research discussed students’ anxiety when learning English. It was conducted to the seventh year English Foreign Language (EFL) Junior High School student of  Himmatun Ayat Surabaya. It identified some factors that can cause anxiety when learning English based on  students' perspectives. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. Twenty anxious students were selected as participants. Data were collected through questionnaires and classroom observations.  The results of this study show that speaking in front of class, being laughed at by other cryptic comments, students' belief in language learning, teacher's personality and lack of preparation are the factors that contribute to student learning. Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the role of the English club in influencing students' English skills at SMA Raudlatul Ulum Gondanglegi. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method. The data were obtained by interviews to some students. Qualitative research is based on primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through interviews while secondary data was obtained through journals and books related to research. Interview was done by researcher to obtain information from students regarding the role of English club at school. Then, the researcher analyzed the data. The participants of this research were students taking part in an English club. The researcher involved five students to be informant. Based on the data collected by the researcher, it shows that the English club is considered to have a very important role in supporting students' English language skills. The students said that the English club had a unique way of teaching English in class. They mentioned that English club activities played an important role in the development of their English skills. They also said that they were happier and more comfortable learning English in an English club than studying in class as usual. Students who join the English club understand English better than students who do not join the English club.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students’ views on using the Spotify application for vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher used the qualitative descriptive method. The main instruments used in the data collection were observation and a semi-structured interview. The subjects of this research were eleventh-grade students of MA Al-Husna Dawuhan, Krejengan. The findings of the research reveal that students' positive views and using Spotify regularly can help them with English vocabulary mastery as well as other skills.
