Abstract

Changes that occur rapidly during a pandemic are prone to causing psychological distress in adolescents. Therole of resources and the vulnerability index of resilience need to be explored as variables that affect psychologicaldistress. This study used a quantitative design with 111 adolescents who were collected online. Data were processedusing descriptive and correlation-regression analysis. The resource index has a negative effect of 12.6 %, while thevulnerability index has a positive effect of 21.2 % on psychological distress. The interaction of both indexes has a rolein psychological distress (R2= 0.21,F= 14.50,ρ= 0.000). Other findings indicate that participant psychological distress is high, with an average resource and a low vulnerability index. This study found that the higher the resourceindex, the lower psychological distress. Conversely, the higher the vulnerability index, the higher the psychologicaldistress. Intervention needs to be done by targeting both resilience indexes.

Abstract

Anger management based on the cognitive-behavioral approach is considered an effective intervention to treat anger and aggressivity in adolescence. This study investigates the effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral intervention on anger in female middle-high school students in Depok. Eight female adolescents (age 12-14) were recruited to participate in this intervention using the purposive sampling method. Anger level was measured during the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up phases using a self-report questionnaire and a program evaluation sheet. Wilcoxon-Sign Rank test showed no significant difference in the participants’ anger level between the three measurement phases. However, according to the program evaluation, the result shows that the participants applied new strategiesto deal with their anger and aggressive behavior. Statistically, the cognitive-behavioral intervention was not effective for treating anger in female adolescents. However, participants were reported to use more adaptive strategies in managing their anger. This intervention could be applied for overcoming aggression and anger in female adolescents in the future.

Abstract

An increasingly dynamic and uncertain job demands provided new challenges for employees in task performance, had an impact on job insecurity, and triggered burnout for employees. This study investigated the predictor role of job insecurity on task performance through the mediation role of burnout. The researcher conducted correlational research with a non-experimental research design. Data were collected from 106 respondents who were private employees with a minimum of one year of work experience. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. This study was conducted by using the Job Insecurity Scale, Task Performance Scale, and Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Scale which was adapted in Indonesia language. The data were processed using multiple regression analysis with mediating variables. The result of this research showed that job insecurity had a negative relationship with task performance (b = −0.35, t = −2.78; p = 0.00). In addition, it was also found that burnout partially mediated the relationship between job insecurity and task performance (β = -0.20, SE =0.07; 99% CI [-0.41,-0.05]). There was evidence that job insecurity had a negative relationship with task performance and burnout had a mediating effect on the relationship between job insecurity and task performance.

Abstract

The development of self-regulation of eating is strongly influenced by feeding practice. In addition, a child’s screen time has an effect on children eating behavior. The aim of this study was to determine whether screen time acts as a moderator to the relationship between feeding practice and the ability to self-regulation eating in preschool age. Method samples were 95 mothers who had children aged 3-6 years. Participants were chosen using convenient sampling. Data were analyzed using linear regression and sub-groups analysis with ANOVA factorial 2x2. Findings show that screen time doesn’t a moderator of the relationship between restrictive feeding practice and self-regulation of eating. The conclusion is the restrictive feeding practice can interfere with children’s self-regulation of eating abilities. However, the effect of screen time doesn’t significantly contribute to moderating the relationship between restrictive feeding practice and children’s self-regulation of eating

Abstract

The studies show that culture and family functioning have a contribution to the well-being of youth. Ethnic Minang with matrilinear culture and collective owned, of course, also plays a role in teenagers’ lives. Researchers aim to test the role of a family’s functioning towards adolescents’ subjective well-being in the Minang ethnicity. The design of this study is quantitative with the selection of samples in the form of purposive sampling. Participants in the study were 315 ethnic Minang adolescents who had filled out questionnaires containing Family Assessment Device and subjective well-being scales. A simple linear regression analysis test shows that family functioning contributes to subjective well-being in ethnic Minang youth (R2 = 0.177, F=67.347, p=0.000). That is, family functioning as a predictor variable contributed 17.7% to subjective well-being. The more optimal the functioning of a family, the more its members feel prosperous.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the Indonesian government to implement a distance learning system. Changes and uncertainties might deteriorate mental health, especially in female adolescents who were initially prone to experiencing stress based on their developmental stage and gender. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of stress management training with Online Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches in reducing stress and developing adaptive coping strategies. A total of 8 participants (ages 14-15) were recruited online with the purposive sampling technique. Changes in stress levels and coping strategies were tested using Friedman’s ANOVA test. There was a significant reduction in stress that continued until 1-month follow-up and increased adaptive coping strategies after the intervention (post-test). Participants also reported positive changes in cognition and emotion, including increased belief about their ability to handle stress in the future. However, there was no statistically significant reduction in a maladaptive coping strategy. Additional factors, such as individual differences and interactions with the environment influenced the intervention's effectiveness.

Abstract

Having an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) child is certainly not easy in her care. Mother, as the most dominant figure in her parenting, certainly experienced psychological impact. This study aims to describe the experience of mothers who are parenting with ADHD related to their quality of life. This research is qualitative research with a Phenomenological approach. The study participants consisted of 5 mothers of children with ADHD aged 36-45 years. Data retrieval is done using semi-structured interviews. Data analysis using thematic analysis. The quality of life in mothers of children with ADHD can be described through 23 themes divided into four domains of quality of life: physical, psychological, social, and environmental. In the physical domain, parenting with ADHD affects daily activities that cause mothers to feel tired. In the psychological domain, the mother feels a variety of feelings from the beginning of the diagnosis to during parenting. In the social relation domain, parenting with ADHD affects maternal relationships. In the environment domain, some costs need to be incurred for the child. Mothers are also able to get new information and lessons during parenting with ADHD.

Abstract

The practice of giving evaluations from students to lecturers is often the moment when the halo effect occurs. Sex and age as individual attributes contribute to positive or negative evaluations of teaching evaluations. The purpose of this study is whether the attributes of age and sex interact with the halo effect in giving evaluations from students to lecturers. This research uses a one-shot case study with an online between-subjects design. One hundred twenty participants were divided into four groups. Each group evaluates 1 of 4 different photos (young men, older men, young women, and older women) labeled with the identity as a lecturer. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show: (1) The sex of the lecturer has no effect on student evaluation (F=0.730, p=0.395); (2) Lecturer age has no effect on student evaluation (F=0.587, p=0.445); (3) The interaction of sex and age has no effect on student evaluation (F=0.649, p=0.525). The sex and age of the lecturer do not affect the evaluation by students. The halo effect did not occur in the students in this study.

Abstract

Prevalensi gangguan obsesif-kompulsif di suatu populasi atau masyarakat relatif kecil, namun bukan berarti kondisi tersebut dapat diabaikan. Orang yang mengalami gangguan obsesif-kompulsif tidak akan merasakan kenyamanan dan ketenangan dalam keseharian hidupnya. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk melihat apakah Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) efektif untuk mengatasi gangguan obsesif-kompulsif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Subyeknya adalah seorang individu yang menunjukkan simptom-simptom Obsesive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) dapat mengurangi simptom OCD, yang ditunjukkan dengan menurunnya tingkat kecemasan, pemikiran negatif dan perilaku kompulsif. Subyek merasakan perubahan yang besar setelah mengikuti terapi; tingkat kenyamanan terhadap dirinya sendiri juga lebih baik dibanding sebelumnya.Kata kunci: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gangguan Obsesif KompulsifPrevalence of obsessive-compulsive in a population or community is just a small number, but it doesn't mean these conditions can be ignored since the sufferer always feel uncomfort in everyday life. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to decrease the symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder. This research use case study method. Subject is individu who has symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. The result showed that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is effective to cope obsessive-compulsive disorder, characterized by reducing levels of anxiety, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Subjects felt a big change after following this therapy. They also fell more comfort with herself after involve in this therapy.Keywords: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Abstract

Studi ini meneliti hubungan antara aksioma sosial, atribusi penyebab kemiskinan, dan sikap terhadap kebijakan redistribusi. Aksioma sosial sebagai keyakinan umum diduga dapat menjadi prediktor bagi keyakinan yang lebih spesifik, yaitu atribusi penyebab kemiskinan, dan jenis kebijakan redistribusi yang didukung. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui dimensi aksioma sosial yang dapat menjadi prediktor bagi atribusi penyebab kemiskinan dan sikap terhadap kebijakan redistribusi. Sebanyak seratus tiga belas orang dari masyarakat umum menjadi subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dimensi aksioma sosial yang dapat menjadi prediktor bagi sikap terhadap kebijakan redistribusi merit adalah imbalan terhadap usaha, sedangkan prediktor bagi sikap terhadap kebijakan redistribusi equality adalah religiusitas. Sedangkan dimensi aksioma sosial yang dapat menjadi prediktor bagi atribusi internal adalah sinisme sosial, imbalan terhadap usaha, kekuasaan takdir dan prediktor bagi atribusi eksternal adalah religiusitas.Kata kunci: Aksioma Sosial, Atribusi Penyebab Kemiskinan, Sikap Terhadap Kebijakan RedistribusiThis study aimed to examine the correlation between social axioms, causal attribution about poverty and attitude toward redistribution policy. Social axioms as a general belief generate more specific belief, in this research is causal attribution about poverty, and correlate to the attitude toward redistribution policy. This study use survey method to one hundred and thirteen people from society. The results showed the dimensions of social axioms that can be a predictor for attitudes towards redistribution policies merit is the reward for application, while the predictor for attitudes towards redistribution equality policies are religiosity.The dimensions of social axioms that can be a predictor for the internal attribution is social cynicism, reward for application, faith control and predictors for external attribution is religiosity.Keywords: Social Axioms, Causal Attribution About Poverty, Attitude Toward Redistribution Policy
