<![CDATA[Reinforcement and scaffolding are tested approaches to enhance learning achievements. Keeping a record of the learning process as well as the new learned words functions as scaffolding to help learners build a comprehensive vocabulary. Similarly, repetitive learning of new words reinforces permanent learning for long-term memory. Paper-based logbooks may prove to be good records of the learning process, but if learners use digital logbooks, the results may be even better. Digital logbooks with an extended page with hyperlinked information on word-knowledge may work both ways – as scaffolding to learning as well as reinforcement to the learning process. In the present paper the researcher has suggested for the development of a software called ‘Vocabulary log book,’ which combines the features of Microsoft Word, online dictionary and online grammar books, so that the information needed by learners of a foreign language to learn its lexicon is available on a single page. The researcher believes that such a page will help learners master the new words quickly and efficiently.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to provide an understanding of information behavior with technology based on gender. It also to investigate the relationship between information behavior and degree of technology affinity. This research has been conducted quantitatively and using survey to gain data from participants. Participant are selected randomly across Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Sarawak. The instrument are adopted from Mills, Knezek, and Wakefield (2013) which taking interest into information behavior (ICTL) as well as technology affinity. The reliability for Information and Communication Technology Learning (ICTL) is 0.835 while for Technology Affinity Scale (TAS) is 0.831. Statistical Analysis for Social Science Package (SPSS) are used to analyze the data obtained through Independent T-test and Pearson Correlation test. Findings indicate that no significant difference found for understanding of information behavior with technology based on gender. While, another finding indicate that there is no significant relationship between information behavior and technology affinity. Improvement suggested obtain from the findings are providing understanding on the types of information behavior possess by each learner and helps educator as well as learner to plan their teaching and learning session to promote better indulgent of the knowledge.]]>

<![CDATA[Research on language learning strategies in Malaysia has been carried out extensively since mid 1990s. However, these studies have not covered the language learning strategies among native pupils in suburban primary school in Mukah, Sarawak. The main objective of the study was to identify the language learning strategies used by English as Second Language (ESL) learners. Data was collected using a survey questionnaire with 20 outstanding Year 5 ESL Iban learners in one of the suburban schools in Mukah, Sarawak. The instrument used in this study include a Language Strategy Use Questionnaire adapted from Language Strategy Use Inventory by Cohen, Oxford and Chi (2002). The adapted version of Language Strategy Use Questionnaire consists of 60 statements concerning the four major English language skills, namely listening, speaking and reading as well as acquisition of vocabulary and grammar. Data was analyzed through mean, frequency, percentage and standard deviation. The findings revealed that these learners were moderate users of listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary strategies and low users of speaking strategies. There were variations in responses with regard to the use of language learning strategies among primary school learners. The pedagogical implications of the findings are also discussed.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of the present study was to explore and comprehend sexual violence against children in Indonesia using the phenomenological method. The study was conducted in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and West Java Provinces. In-depth interviews were carried out with several informants ranging from government officials, women activists, teachers, and community leaders. Results showed that sexual violence against children was actually perpetrated by the person closest to the victims. The perpetrators used the weakness of victims who did not dare tell their parents about the abuse, which was due to cultural and structural problems.]]>

<![CDATA[Kertas kerja ini akan meneliti kewujudan diglosia dalam dialog yang digarapkan oleh A.Samad Said melalui novel Salina. Analisis dijalankan bersandarkan sifat-sifat diglosia yang wujud berdasarkan Ferguson (1959) dan Fishman (1967). Pengukur ini adalah untuk memperlihatkan kewujudan diglosia dalam bentuk dwi/multibahasa. Analisis ini dideskripsi dalam bentuk kualitatif. Kaedah utamanya adalah mengumpul data diglosia daripada teks novel dan dihubungkan dengan faktor sosiolinguistik yang menentukan pemeringkatan diglosia. Dapatan mendapati terdapat diglosia rendah (L) yang wujud dalam beberapa pemeringkatan dan berlaku pertindihan fungsi. Terdapat juga diglosia rendah yang mencapai tahap tinggi (H) apabila berlaku pertembungan dua diglosia rendah yang dibezakan oleh faktor sosiolinguistik menjadikannya sebagai (HL).]]>

<![CDATA[Ungkapan hormat dilahirkan untuk menyatakan rasa hormat seseorang sewaktu berhubung dengan orang lain. Penggunaan ungkapan hormat bukan bermaksud menghina diri, tetapi menunjukkan sikap yang tidak sombong dan angkuh. Penggunaan ungkapan ini juga mampu memaparkan sifat sopan santun yang dicirikan oleh budi bahasa, tertib, beradat dan bertatasusila yang akan membentuk akhlak terpuji yang berwatak mesra dan disenangi oleh semua anggota masyarakat. Dapatan mendapati, masih terdapat penulis yang mengabaikan penggunaan ungkapan hormat hingga menimbulkan kesan negatif kepada kelangsungan berkomunikasi. Sehubungan itu, kertas kerja ini akan meneliti amalan penulisan kesantunan berbahasa golongan pengurus berdasarkan kata hormat yang digunakan. Pendekatan kajian ialah dengan menggunakan kaedah analisis dokumen terhadap dokumen-dokumen berformat. Ungkapan hormat akan dianalisis berdasarkan Asmah (2007).]]>

Analisis dijalankan ke atas pelajar-pelajar yang mengikuti kursus SBLM1053 Bahasa Melayu Pengurusan. Analisis ini dideskripsi dalam bentuk kualitatif. Kaedah utamanya adalah mengumpul data daripada 40 orang pelajar dengan mempraktikkan amalan PdP berdasarkan teknik pengajaran berbantukan kemudahan internet. Penggunaan teknologi terkini dan interaktif seperti muat turun video aplikasi youtube, paparan rakaman video, aplikasi menggunakan ipad dan lain-lain diaplikasikan semasa sesi PdP. Dapatan mendapati teknik PdP berbantukan kemudahan internet amat berkesan dan berjaya mewujudkan suasana yang lebih berinovasi. Bantuan daripada internet serta panduan daripada pensyarah juga memudahkan pelajar terutama ketika mencari bahan serta maklumat berkaitan kursus serta ketika melakukan pembentangan.]]>
