Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of social media in improving employee and organizational performance through knowledge sharing, communication, and decision-making. This study was conducted on Bekasi Regency Local Government employees, specifically at the Department of Manpower, with a focus on Generation Z who actively use social media in their daily activities. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a survey as a data collection instrument, which is then analyzed using statistical techniques to test the hypotheses that have been proposed. The study found that knowledge sharing and communication through social media improved employee performance, but had no impact on organizational performance. Meanwhile, decision-making through social media has a positive effect on organizational and employee performance. The limitation of this study is the scope which only covers employees in one particular region, so the results may not be generalizable to other organizational contexts or different generations. Theoretically, this study is expected to make a significant contribution to the literature related to human resource management and information technology. On the practical side, the findings of this research are expected to be a reference for policymakers in formulating a more effective social media utilization strategy in the government work environment.

Abstract

Leadership is ever-evolving with approaches that employ innovation addressing institutional context-specific challenges while manifesting a level of quality. Employing a mixed-method research approach using explanatory sequential design, this study delves on leadership in the academe to uplift quality education through innovation practices for the development of learners to be globally capable in the future. Hence, this study described, differentiated, and correlated leadership innovation practices and quality education in Capiz as perceived by the 255 randomly selected integrated school teachers and 8 FGD participants coming from the Schools Divisions of Roxas City and Capiz respectively. Frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson r were used to analyze the data from researcher-made questionnaires while the qualitative data were thematically analyzed. Results showed that leadership innovation practices as manifested by the school heads were significantly manifested through concrete pieces of evidence in addressing, valuing, and designing strategic innovative practices in terms of service, process, and marketing; quality education was comprehended as significantly manifested through policies and considering issues in the educative process reflective of quality in terms of accessibility, pedagogical leadership, and evidence-based practices; leadership innovation practices had a significant difference only when educational attainment of the respondents was considered; the demographics of the respondents did not affect the quality education; and, leadership innovation practices and quality are mutually dependent. Thus, leadership innovation schemes vis-à-vis school-based management strategies may be considered to enhance innovative facets of school management. Future investigation in leadership, innovation, and quality education is further recommended.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities have long been recognized as a valuable component of a well-rounded education, offering students opportunities to explore their interests, develop essential life skills, and enhance their overall well-being. These activities extend beyond the traditional classroom setting, providing a platform for students to engage in diverse pursuits ranging from sports and arts to community service and leadership roles. While the benefits of extracurricular involvement are widely acknowledged, their impact on academic performance, particularly in English language proficiency, remains a subject of ongoing research and debate. This research delved into the intricate relationship between extracurricular engagement and English performance of education students at Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC). Specifically, this study sought to find answer to the following: level of extra-curricular engagement of education students;  level of English performance of the Education students; and to determine if there is a significant relationship between the extra-curricular engagement and the English performance of the Education students. This study adopted a quantitative-correlational research design. The participants of the study were the selected Education students from all-year levels under the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) department of CPC.  The simple random sampling was employed in the selection of the participants of the study. The total respondents were 82 students derived from using the Slovin’s formula. This study utilized a 20-item researcher’s made questionnaire to gather the data.  The questionnaire was divided into two sections. Section A is composed of ten statements to describe the level of student’s extra – curricular engagement, and section B is composed of 10 statements to describe the level of student’s English performance. The panel of experts validated the questionnaire and it was tested for reliability before it was distributed to the respondents.  The permission to conduct the study was secured from the College of Arts, Sciences and Education of Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion School administrators. The researchers distributed the questionnaire to the identified respondents and gave them time to answer the questions by checking the box that corresponds to their answers. Upon the retrieval of the research instruments, the data was then tallied and computer-processed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software, analyzed and interpreted. Frequency count and percentage were used to find out the number of respondents that belonged to a particular category.  The obtained mean scores were used to describe the extracurricular engagement and English performance of the students. Standard deviation was utilized to determine an indication of how far the individual responses to a question vary or "deviate" from the mean. To determine the relationship between the extracurricular engagement and  English performance of Education students, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The results of the respondents’ responses with regards to the level of their extra-curricular engagement gained a grand mean score of 2.65, verbally interpreted as “sometimes.” Considering the statement on attending symposiums about English, results indicated that the students often attend such event; and they often participate in English enhancement programs. Sometimes they participate in cultural competition and sometimes join in English organization/club as well. However, results also revealed that the respondents never join in spoken poetry competition; and never engage themselves in a spelling bee contest or in online English competitions. The results of the respondents’ responses with regards to the level of their English performance  gained a grand mean of 3.71 described as  “above average.” The results revealed that the respondents have above average performances in  writing  essays using English language; in participating in oral recitations in their English class; and in speaking English in class. The results also revealed that the respondents have above average performance in  comprehending the English context; in speaking  English with other people; in writing the correct spelling of English word; and in  writing using the English language. Meanwhile, the results further revealed that the respondents are having trouble with their vocabularies, and are having difficulties in pronouncing English words. On the other hand, the respondents are highly inspired in learning English language. The findings revealed a complex interplay between extracurricular engagement and English performance. The students generally demonstrated above-average English performance indicating a strong foundation in the language. The result in determining the relationship between the extra-curricular engagement and the English performance of the respondents revealed a significant relationship. The result suggests that if the students are engaged in extra-curricular activities, they cannot focus in their academics especially in their English performance, but if the students do not participate in any extra-curricular activities at school, they can excel in their performance in English.

Abstract

Family support encompasses financial and moral support provided by parents or guardians to their children. The financial and moral support can  help students against the stressors and challenges they face during their educational journey. Some students travel to the city for academic advancement. They need to leave the comfort of their homes, and be separated from their families, but they must do so in order to fulfill their dreams. There are also students who do not need to stay in boarding houses since they live close to the school. The mental well-being of students is also significantly impacted by family support.  Strong family support and positive relationships connects to better mental health state. However, a lack of family support may leave students feeling excluded and frustrated. They cannot focus on their studies, and it may lower their self-acceptance, and makes them feel uncomfortable working with others or having negative connections with others. The central focus of this study was to determine the extent of family support and mental health of CASE students of Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion for the school year 2023-2024. The specific purpose of the study was to find answers to the following: extent of family support of the respondents  in terms of financial and moral support when they are taken as a whole; level of mental health of the respondents in terms of self-acceptance and relationship with others when they are taken as a whole; significant difference in the extent of family support of the respondents who reside at home and those who reside in boarding houses and course enrolled; significant difference in the level of mental health of the respondents who reside at home and those who reside in boarding houses and course enrolled; and to determine the  relationship between family support and mental health of the respondents. The participants of the study were identified as the officially enrolled College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) students of Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion in the first semester of academic year 2023-2024. The respondents of the study were the identified fifty-six (56) out of one hundred eleven (111) CASE students. The research team employed a descriptive correlational method along with the researcher-made questionnaire for this investigation.  The questionnaire was made up of three parts: Part 1 – information on the respondents’ home location which was limited to reside at home and reside in a boarding house; Part 2 - statement on the extent of family support; and Part 3 - statement on the level of mental health. The questionnaire was validated by a panel of experts and was tested for reliability before it was distributed to the respondents. The gathered data were tabulated and analyzed using non parametric statistical methods, such as descriptive statistics, Wilconxon test correlation coefficient and one sample t-test for differences, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney U Test. The findings of the study show that the respondents have a high level of family support in terms of financial and moral aspects. The result on financial support indicates that students are well supported in their tuition fees;  they are provided with their daily allowance;  their family ensures that they have enough money for their school projects; and they are provided with extra allowances for extracurricular activities. The result on moral support indicates that students received encouragements from family members to study well and to achieve their set goals; family members help them solve problems encountered at school; family members compliment them for good performance at school; they are given  full support when they join in school activities. Findings of the study in relation to the level of mental health of the respondents in terms of self-acceptance and relationship with others reveal a high result. The result on self-acceptance reveals that the respondents  are proud of their  achievements; they accept their mistakes; they are aware of their strengths and weaknesses;  they follow their passion with determination; and they hold on to their values and principles. In terms of relationship with others the respondents stressed that they care and are willing to help others in need; respect others’ opinions; value their relationships with others; can work with others; and collaborate with others. The results on the extent of family support considering the home location and course enrolled by the respondents fail to establish a significant difference. Furthermore, the analysis of data on the level of mental health considering the home location and course enrolled by the respondents indicates a no significant difference result. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the extent of family support and level of mental health of the respondents.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of digital transformation on madrasah reform in Indonesia, focusing on how transformational leadership, collaborative culture, and organizational learning contribute to institutional performance. A mixed-method approach was used, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with madrasah leaders across Indonesia. The survey examined the relationship between digital transformation and madrasah performance, while the interviews provided insights into leadership and collaboration practices influencing reform. The study finds that digital transformation positively impacts madrasah performance, particularly when supported by transformational leadership and a strong collaborative culture. Transformational leaders play a crucial role in motivating staff to embrace digital tools and fostering a learning-oriented environment. Organizational learning and collaborative practices enhance the success of digital initiatives, ensuring effective reform. The research is limited to madrasahs in Indonesia, focusing primarily on institutional leaders. The findings may not be fully generalizable to other educational systems or cultural contexts. The study contributes to the literature on educational reform by highlighting the importance of digital transformation in Islamic educational institutions. It extends transformational leadership theory by applying it to the context of madrasah reform. Madrasah leaders should foster collaborative cultures to support digital transformation, ensuring that reforms align with both academic and religious goals. This research is one of the few studies examining digital transformation in Islamic educational institutions, offering valuable insights into how leadership and culture drive successful reform.
