Abstract

The aims of study was to determine the effect of multimedia through film and digital games with pictorial stories in groups of students who have high and low critical thinking patterns on guided writing learning activities in the Arabic Language Education Study Program, Jakarta State University. The study was conducted on the third semester students of the 2018/2019 school year with a total sample of 44 students, which were divided into two groups: 22 students for the experimental group and 22 students for the control group. The research approach uses quantitative research with a 2x2 factorial experimental method. Data collecting technique used tests for writing instruments and critical thinking instruments. The data analysis technique used two-way ANOVA. The results of two-way analysis are known that there are significant effects of multimedia and critical thinking patterns on learning activities of Arabic workshop writing.

Abstract

The research is intended to find out (1) the concept of learning innovation, (2) the implementation of learning innovation management functions, (3) the implication of learning innovation management, and (4) obstacles and solutions of the implementation of learning innovation management at effective classes at Integrated Islamic Secondary School (SMPIT) Cordova Samarinda. This research used a qualitative approach with case study and the data was collected through deep interview, observation and documentation. The informans of the research are the head and his vice of the foundation, coordinator of the effective classes, teachers and students. The data was analysed by using descriptive technique. For the research findings, it was  found that (1) the concept of learning innovation for effective classes is built through middle input with an effective learning process and produces an effective output; (2) the implementation of learning innovation management functions of effective classes was carried out through planning design by determining input sellection standard, an effective process standard, an effective output standard, learning innovation organization through enriched curriculum, time allocation, teachers’ roles and duties, learning  sources,  learning innovation  through moving class, a standardized teachers, IT-based management, full day school program, and  three evaluations of learning innovation, namely test and non-test with mastery learning standard, and high competition class assessment; (3) the implication of learning innovation management covers integrated learning management system, better teacher qualification standard, and increase school reputation; and (4) obstacles and solution disrupt the implementation of learning innovation management of effective classes at SMPIT Cordova Samarinda.

Abstract

The essence of Islamic education, in addition to the transfer of value and knowledge is the optimization of all human potential. Most of human potential rests on his brain. The science of studying the brain is neuroscience. Therefore, Islamic education and neuroscience can be hybridized in an interdisciplinary manner. The purpose of this study was to find new scientific varieties resulted from hybridization of Islamic education and neuroscience. This research is an interdisciplinary study with a qualitative approach in the form of library research. The source of the research data is the literature in the field of Islamic education and neuroscience that is explored and collected documentary and analyzed with content analysis. The results of the study showed that the concepts of nasiyah (crown) and ‘aql (mind) in the Quran have a correlation with the brain and mind in neuroscience. Both can be hybridized so as to find new varieties of science called the Islamic Education Neuroscience. This new branch of science has the potential to be equivalent to the scientific branches that have been developing so far, such as the philosophy of Islamic education, the psychology of Islamic education, the anthropology of Islamic education and so is the neuroscience of Islamic education. Educators, both teachers and lecturers who study this science can do stimulation and intervention to optimize students' brain potential in an integrated manner in learning Islamic diversity.

Abstract

Students are a component of the education system. It will not be called education if the student is not in it. To succeed in education (learning), many conditions must be considered; one of which is ethics or manners. In the context of Islamic education, ethics or manners for a student is very important. It is difficult for a student to succeed in education if he is not ethical or civilized.  Even if he succeeded in education or in learning, then his knowledge was not a blessing or not useful for others or a cause of destruction for himself. This paper aims to describe the ethics of a student who is learning according to the perspective of a religious figure so that he is successful in his learning. This paper used documentary techniques. The data of this paper obtained from the recordings of lectures delivered by Kiai Haji Muhammad Zaini during his lifetime and juxtaposed with the book read by him. Student ethics according to Kiai Hajj Muhammad Zaini is that a student should always expect and ask his teacher to always pray for him, use the time for useful activities, repeat lessons at home and ask back to the teacher related lessons that are still vague for him, clean the intention when looking for knowledge that is only because of Allah SWT, revive religion, keep the Islamic shari'a in order to remain there, intend the knowledge gained will be practiced, always do good deeds and adorn themselves with praiseworthy qualities, get used to getting up at night to worship Allah and ask Allah in order to give him useful knowledge and other virtues, respect his teacher zahir (external) and bathin (inner), not make friends or be close with people who are not in good morals (immoral perpetrators and other deeds), do not use the knowledge they get to debate or pilgrimage, always trying to be close to Allah SWT, accustom to ablution before learning, always reading the Qur'an, always correcting the five senses of sin in order to quickly understand the science of religion.

Abstract

Educational issues require special attention, especially those related to character. Learning in boarding-based schools is one option to overcome character problems, especially disciplined characters. This research was conducted at MBS Muhiba Yogyakarta as one of the boarding-based schools in the city of Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research was a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was obtained by observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The instruments were interview guidelines, observation guidelines, and documentation guidelines. The subjects in this study were the director and teacher. Data analysis techniques used interactive analysis which includes; data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the strengthening students discipline character of learning in boarding-based schools was carried out through; use of the inquiry learning model based on contextual, Islamic habituation, one of rule, the provision of penalties and gifts, and role model. The obstacle reinforcement of strengthening discipline character of students at boarding-based school includes specific obstacles such as; difficulty in planning material concepts and difficulty in designing the flow of thought. General obstacles in learning include; the difficulty to cooperate with parents in implementing one of rule, the teacher's insistence to implement discipline, and the lack of attention given to learning.

Abstract

The presence of Islamic education i.e. madrasah has significantly contributed to the live of public citizen in Indonesia. Therefore, the existence of madrasah education develops in accordance with the needs and demands of society today as well as it be able to adjust the existence of the industrial revolution 4.0. The development madrasah education must be done by increasing the quality of human resources, redesigning curriculum development and managing the quality of learning. In this context, as an effort to achieve the above educational goals, new breakthroughs in the field of learning are needed i.e. continuous quality improvement by carrying out various approaches, especially in the field of learning management innovation in order to drive the Islamic education as a central for excellence where the students are able to compete in the midst of the 4.0 industrial revolution era. The existence of learning management essentially aims to build and develop the full potential of learners, and these efforts can only be made if all learning activities are programmed in accordance with the needs of students, parents, and society expectations. Therefore, at the practical level, learning activities are understood to be able to run effectively and efficiently if all of the above activities start from the managerial process, through the learning planning process; learning management; management of students management of quality human resources or professionalism of teachers; development of learning activities and the process of evaluating good learning.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research aims to describe the selection and usage of English for Islamic studies material based on Islamic character values.  It was conducted at English for Islamic studies class followed by the students of Akhwal As Syakhsiyyah Department, IAIN Pontianak. The results showed that the lecturer chose internet authentic material regarding Islamic character values, and he administered an online readability test to gain a reading passage that fits students' abilities. According to interviews with several students, after reading and discussing passages containing Islamic character values, students felt that such reading materials were beneficial information, and they attempted to behave according to Islamic characters mentioned in the reading passages.

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) describing the cultural approach in the development of holistic education in Muhammadiyah Elementary School: 2) finding the role of school’s stakeholders in realizing holistic education in Muhammadiyah Sleman Elementary School. This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah Sleman Elementary School Yogyakarta. This research was qualitative research of phenomenology by interpretive paradigm. Data collection techniques were observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis was by interactive model, which were data reduction, data display, and data conclusion drawing/verification. The results of this research are: 1) school culture becomes an important part in improving education quality. The development of holistic education in Muhammadiyah elementary school using cultural approach. Values, beliefs, and habits are built on the school community’s awareness and will, which is bottom-up in nature. The basis of realizing holistic education in school is the school culture. Positive school culture will make holistic education done well, on the contrary negative school culture will make holistic education difficult to obtained. Therefore schools should build strong school culture in implementing holistic education; 2) school stakeholders who very important in realizing holistic education at Muhammadiyah Sleman Elementary School are principal, guard team of school culture, teachers, families, school committees, community, and guard team of holistic education.

Abstract

Education is a conscious and planned effort that is applied to shape the character of a child who is characteristically and adheres to Islamic values in daily life. Thus the role of the family in providing education to children is very urgent to be applied in today's society which experiences moral decadence. The concept of religious values in children developed is the values of rabbaniyah and values of insanity. The steps of family involvement in internalizing ethical values in children are carried out through the stages of value transformation, value transactions, value internalization, and transcendalization of benefits by developing aspects of knowing, doing, and being. The element of knowledge is done by giving insight to children about religious values. The point of doing is made by guiding children. The aspect of being is done by providing an example to children. The three processes are not only carried out in schools but also carried out in the family with the guidance of parents. Also, in the process develops the concept of moral (moral knowing), honest attitude (good feeling), and ethical behaviour (moral behaviour).

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe how students’ discipline management is applied in order to weakening human resources in 21st century. This research was conducted at three different Islamic schools called madrasah i.e. Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Makassar, MAN Batu, Malang, and MAN Insan Cendekia Paser, East Kalimantan. In this case, madrasah principal, vice principal, classroom teachers, dormitory teachers, and students became participants in this research. In this case, the researcher observed and interviewed the subject in order to describe deeply regarding with the application of students’ discipline management. The result shows that there are four discipline methods applied at MAN Makassar, MAN Batu, MAN Insan Cendekia Paser i.e. the art of distribution, the control of activity, the organization of geneses, and the composition of forces. Other than that, medium to create discipline atmosphere is also appeared from hierarchical observation, normalizing judgement, and examination. Future implication regarding with students’ discipline management is also discussed in this research.
