Abstract

Refractive errors are the main visual impairment and being the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Visual impairment due to refractive errors is a health problem that needs attention because it can reduce productivity and quality of life in the future. This study aims to gain knowledge about prevalence and analyze risk factors for refractive errors in new students of the Medical Study Program Faculty of Medicine Warmadewa University 2020th Generation. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine Warmadewa University during December 2020 - February 2021. This research is an analytical study with a cross sectional design and has passed ethical clearance. Sampling was carried out in a simple random sampling with a total sample of 114 people. Data collection methods consist of questionnaire and visual examination using snellen chart and pinhole test. The results showed that the prevalence of refractive error among new medical students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Warmadewa University 2020th Generation was 59,6%. The result showed that there is significant association between parental history (p value=0.000), reading distance (p value=0.021), reading time (p value=0.022), duration of phone used (p value=0.000), duration of computer used (p value=0.013), frequency of outdoor activities (p value=0.028) and duration of outdoor activity (p value=0.019) with refractive errors. The logistic regression test showed that parental history (p value = 0.002) had a 7.340 times risk of causing refractive errors and also duration of phone used ≥2 hours (p value=0.000) had a 16.407 times risk causing refractive errors.

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervous, and other unpleasant feelings. About one in three medical students worldwide experience anxiety. Anxiety experienced by students can make them suffer from insomnia. Insomnia is defined as a sleep disorder characterized by complaints of difficulty falling asleep, remaining asleep, and poor sleep quality. Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is one of the exams that triggers anxiety in medical students. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and the severity of insomnia among third semester students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Warmadewa University in facing the OSCE in 2021. A cross-sectional study with correlational quantitative approach was conducted on the respondents (n = 111). The respondents was selected using purposive sampling method. The data was collected using self-data questionnaire, as well as Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) questionnaires. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis, statistical analysis with Spearman Rank correlation analysis, and hypothesis testing with p-value on Sig (2-tailed) using SPSS software. The result shows that there is a positive correlation between the level of anxiety and the severity of insomnia with a moderate correlation strength (r=0.494) and statistically significant (p=0.001).

Abstract

Abstract [The Relationship between Self Efficacy and Stress Levels in New Students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Warmadewa University Class of 2020] Stress is a psychological problem that many children, adolescents and adults encounter. In Riskesdas (2018), 9.8% of the 15-year-old Indonesian population has emotional problems such as stress. Freshmen will face various difficulties due to different learning situations from the past. This will affect the psychological status of students, one of which is characterized by stress, which interferes with daily activities or leads to suicidal ideation. Self-efficacy is an internal factor that affects the level of stress. When self-efficacy is high, stress levels are low. The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between self-efficacy and freshmen's stress level. This study is an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional study model. The measurement tools used are the DASS-42 questionnaire to assess stress levels and the GSES questionnaire to measure self-efficacy. The sample used was a 2020 batch of 100 new FKIK University Warmadewa students, who were selected using simple random sampling. The collected data is analyzed using the SPSS application. The hypothesis test used is Spearman rank correlation test as a bivariate analysis, which shows that there is a significant negative effect between self-efficacy and stress level (r = -0.620 and p-value = 0.000) The chi-square test showed that compared with high self-efficacy, the risk of experiencing stress with low self-efficacy was 18.857 times higher (95% CI = 2,413 – 146,727 and p-value = 0.000). Keywords: stress level, self-efficacy

Abstract

Contact Lenses are one of the popular specialized innovations in the field of ophthalmology which very common in society. This is supported by the large number of contact lens wearers worldwide, which has reached 125 million people, while the prevalence of eyeglass/contact lens wearers in Indonesia reaches 2.9% between the 15–24-year age group. Now contact lenses are not only seen as health aids but also as products that can support the lifestyle and the cosmetic field. The type of contact lens that is widely used is Soft Contact Lens (SCL) with various lengths of use ranging from daily to yearly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the duration of wearing soft contact lenses with complaints of dry eye syndrome. This study was a quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach using purposive sampling. The data collection method used the Contact Lens Dry Eye Questionnaire-8 (CLDEQ-8) questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using chi-square statistical test and then followed by Spearman's rank correlation test to determine the degree of relationship. The average duration of daily use of soft contact lenses is 7.58±2.711 hours. The study found that the P-value exceeded the significance level of 0.05 (P = 0.965) and the r-value was 0.005. The conclusion is there is no relationship and very weak correlation between the length of using soft contact lenses and complaints of dry eye syndrome.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a livable disease and its increased every year. (DM) victim are prone to skin infections, one of which is dermatophytes. Uncontrolled blood sugar levels in DM patients are prone to dermatophytosis. The objective of research was to understand correlation controlled blood sugar and dermatophytosis in patients with type2 diabetes mellitus. The research done in research an analytical observational use case control type. The minimum sample number of cases is 35 people and the minimum sample of control is 35 people acording with the requirement of inclusion and exclusion. The research is worked in the Tabanan General Hospital in 2020 – 2021 using medical records which was then analyzed univariately to see the characteristics of the subject and the comparison of the proportions of each group. Chi-square testing was used to know the correlation between blood sugar control and dermatophytosis. The p-value<0.05 was said to be statistically significant and the p-value>0.05 was said to be insignificant. In the dermatophytosis group, the majority (45.7%) of study subjects were old 31-60 years and majority (62.9%) male. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was no significant difference in proportion of sex and age in the dermatophytotic and non-dermatophytic groups. The most common dermatophytosis was tinea cruris with a proportion of 37.1%. Abstract

Students in the final stage of lectures generally have academic and non-academic problems. Various problems that usually arise are when working on a final project (thesis) and having to complete lectures on time. This can develop into a negative feeling that can lead to a psychologically depressed state and ends up being uncomfortable. The power of problem solving objectively is based on the level of emotional maturity. The aim of the study was to find the correlation between emotional and psychosomatic maturity that occurred in the final stages of FKIK students at Warmadewa University. The sample used is the total number of affordable population, namely students from the class of 2017 who are taking semester VIII (92 people). The research method used is correlative analytic, cross sectional design. The data used are primary data obtained by interview using an emotional maturity scale questionnaire and a somatic symptom scale (SSS) questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out univariate also bivariate with Spearman correlation test. Spearman's correlation analysis showed a significant correlation between emotional and psychosomatic maturity that occurred in late-stage students at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Warmadewa University (p=0.000), with a weak correlation (r= 0.415)
