Abstract

Research on hadith related to perfume often emphasizes the ethical aspects of its use and its implications for personality. However, there has been limited exploration of how these hadiths can serve as tools to prevent sexual harassment and protect women. This study aims to examine the hadith concerning women’s use of perfume from the perspective of preventing sexual harassment and safeguarding women. Employing a descriptive-qualitative method combined with thematic analysis techniques, this research analyzes qualitative data, including narrative and interpretive studies of the hadith texts to uncover their meanings. Additionally, it conducts a phenomenological analysis of social norms regarding women’s use of perfume in society. The findings reveal that the prohibition of women wearing perfume in public spaces aims to protect them from negative attention or harassment, which can stem from certain social norms. The hadith advises women to use perfume thoughtfully and by the situation to avoid potential harm. Furthermore, these teachings highlight the importance of ethics, morality, and respect for women, which can serve as a foundation for promoting their protection in social settings. The contribution of this research is to offer a new perspective on the relevance of hadith in preventing sexual harassment through the principle of caution and to reinforce the role of religion in protecting women both socially and psychologically.

Abstract

KUPI Muslim feminists are born from religious leaders who are sensitive to women's issues. They examine religious texts from a gender perspective, balancing the roles between patriarchal traditions and equality education, on the basis that Islam teaches inclusive justice for all humans. This paper uses a qualitative method with a social approach through Coleman's rational choice theory as an analytical tool on the data findings. The findings in this paper show that the KUPI Muslim feminist movement is based on rational choices constructed through Islamic religious values sourced from sacred texts with a scientific and experiential lens. Rational choice based on religious values raises the concept of rational religion choice. Their movement aims to reconstruct patriarchal domination in religion, and promote gender-inclusive religion through re-reading sacred texts with various holistic and contextual approaches to develop a new epistemology in Islam in feminism. To optimize their goals, they utilize human resources through organizations affiliated with KUPI, as well as online media to spread their ideas. The KUPI Muslim feminist movement reconstructs gender-inclusive Islam through religious rationality, organizational advocacy, and the use of digital media.

Abstract

This paper examines the role of women in addressing the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia, employing a qualitative methodology through a case study approach. Data were collected using literature review techniques, serving as a source of secondary data. The findings indicate that key female figures—specifically the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), the Minister of Social Affairs, and the Governor of East Java—played critical roles as regulators, implementers, and evaluators. As regulators, they contributed to the formulation of laws and policies; as implementers, they monitored policy enforcement and actions in the field; and as evaluators, they assessed the operational effectiveness of these policies to ensure targeted and efficient outcomes. Theoretically, these women exemplify the application of feminist values in governance, using their legitimate authority to advocate for inclusive and gender-sensitive responses to the pandemic. Their dual identities as state officials and women—who often bear the brunt of health crises—position them uniquely to understand the lived experiences of women and children. Moreover, women, particularly in the domestic sphere, serve as primary managers in preventing their households from becoming new clusters of COVID-19 transmission. When women are involved in policy-making and implementation, they are better positioned to shape interventions that directly address the needs of vulnerable populations.

Abstract

Land conflicts are still a major problem in Indonesia. The study on this paper examined the impact of agrarian conflicts through the children in Indonesia. Agrarian conflicts were not only impact to the landowners, but also have a significant impact on the children who were living in conflict areas. The study attempted the answer how children are involved in agrarian conflicts by highlighting the field context in agrarian conflicts, including psychological, social, and economic impacts? The methodology applied in this study was the qualitative method, with a literature review or desk review approachs and uses the conflict data collection system developed by the HuMa NGO, https://humawin.huma.or.id. This study found the trauma in psychological and social trauma to the children in agrarian conflict areas. This study provided comprehensive recommendations to protect and support children affected by agrarian conflicts in Indonesia with the meaningful participation of all multi-stakeholders or parties in the agrarian conflict.

Abstract

Through the lens of normative feminism, this article examines the many difficulties experienced by female migrant workers within Taiwan's patriarchal framework. Taiwan's economy has mostly benefited from the labor of migrant workers, most of whom are women. Because of the country's pervasive patriarchal system, these workers frequently face complex gender-based problems. This study explores the overlapping layers of marginalization, exploitation, and discrimination faced by female migrant workers via the lens of normative feminist theory, drawing attention to the many difficulties that these women face as a result of Taiwan's patriarchal norms interacting with the job market, social structures, and cultural prejudices. Utilizing non-participatory observation and internet-based literature research, this article finds that there is a lack of research on gender-based factors that cause these challenges. Though there has been international support from labor protection-focused organizations, there are still limitations and loopholes in the existing legal protections available in Taiwan and sending countries of these workers, causing cases of risks faced by female migrant workers go undocumented at a large number. This study pushes forth the urgency for more robust instruments and government bodies that bind and regulate the treatments and protections towards these female migrant workers.

Abstract

A safe learning environment in early childhood education is an important aspect in supporting children's optimal development. This research was conducted to find out and analyze how early childhood education institutions have implemented a safe learning environment. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted from August to November 2024. The subject of this research is the class teacher, while the informants are the principal, accompanying teachers, and parents of MTA Bulu Kindergarten. The data collection methods used were observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of the research data, researchers used method and source triangulation techniques. The results showed that MTA Bulu Kindergarten has implemented several programs to create a safe learning environment. Some of the strategies that have been carried out include ensuring the safety of child-friendly buildings, compiling SOPs, making class agreements, implementing positive discipline, conducting regular safety talks and emergency drill activities, ensuring the availability of first aid facilities, implementing anti-violence policies, conducting bullying assessments, involving parents and related stakeholders, and forming violence prevention and handling teams.

Abstract

This research aims to explore gender representation in Islamic Religious Education textbooks by examining the portrayal of gender through both content and illustrations. The study investigates how gender roles and values are reflected in the Qur'an, Hadith, descriptive narratives, and visuals in the textbooks. Additionally, it explores how Islamic Education promotes gender-related values through various elements, including text, narratives, and imagery. This study uses the library research method, this study analyses gender equality in Qur'anic verses, al-Hadits, descriptive narratives, and illustrations in these textbooks. Data were collected through a literature study, including identifying and reviewing verses, gender narratives, and illustrations. Content and visual analyses were conducted to find gender representation. Each element was analyzed in depth to understand its educational and social implications. The results showed that Qur'anic verses, Hadits of the Prophet Muhammad, descriptive narratives, and illustrative images provide a strong foundation for respecting, protecting, recognizing the contributions, and valuing women's rights in all aspects of life, including education, economy, marriage, inheritance, and family relationships. This demonstrates Islamic Religious Education's commitment to gender equality and justice in treating all individuals, regardless of gender. This research, however, is still limited to religious texts and does not consider the socio-cultural context. It is recommended that future textbooks strengthen the principles of gender justice by including socio-cultural contextualization, helping learners understand its practical application.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the reasons male students use cosmetic products and to examine the perceptions of students in the Automotive Engineering Education program regarding the phenomenon of male grooming. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The study was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang. The informants were categorized into three groups: male students who engage in male grooming practices, male students who do not, and female students. The study utilizes the concept of gender stereotypes. The findings indicate that several factors motivate male students to engage in male grooming, including family and peer pressure, job requirements, skin problems, the desire to maintain appearance, and the influence of social media advertising. The phenomenon of male grooming generates varied perceptions among students. For male students who practice male grooming, such behavior is considered normal. However, some male students who do not engage in male grooming, as well as female students, perceive it as inappropriate behavior for students in the Faculty of Engineering. The study reveals that gender stereotypes in the Automotive Engineering Education program remain evident and strongly influence perceptions of male grooming.
