Abstract

Sports not always been a neutral space, but rather an arena for the production and reproduction of power relations, ideologies, and social constructs. Formula 1 (F1) is a global sport laden with symbols of masculinity, capitalism, and exclusivity, which often marginalizes women in fandom culture. This study aims to deconstruct gender stereotypes about female F1 fans, who are often reduced to being “aesthetic fans” or merely following trends because of their interest in the appearance of F1 drivers, rather than the thchnical aspects of the sport. Using Michel Foucault’s discourse analysis approach, this study highlights how power works through the media, online communities, and social interactions to normalize gender hierarchies in F1 fandom culture. The research data was obtained through content and comments on the Instagram account @infipop.id, which shows how stereotypes are produced and challenged by resistance from female F1 fans. The results of the study show that social media has become a space for social deconstruction, where women associate their identities as true F1 fans through alternative narratives, technical analysis, and digital communities. This study contributes to gender and sports studies by emphasizing the importance of social deconstruction in creating a more inclusive and egalitarian fandom space.

Abstract

Betel leaf (Piper Betle L.) is one of the plants that has many benefits and symbolic meanings in the lives of the Toba Batak tribe in Ugan-Ugan Village, Sibonor Ompu Ratus Subdistrict, Nainggolan District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra. Betel leaf is an example of local wisdom that has been preserved for generations as being a cultural symbol with meaning. This article aims to explore various aspects of the use of betel leaves in health, culture, and social life among the Batak Toba tribe, the symbolic meaning of betel leaves, and the reasons why the Batak Toba tribe considers betel leaves so important that they are widely used. This study uses qualitative methods with observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the community, including the elderly, parents, and Raja Parhata, to obtain information related to the understanding of the use and meaning of betel leaves. The results of this study show that the Batak Toba tribe makes extensive use of betel leaves in traditional medicine. Betel leaves are also the most important element in traditional ceremonies. The Batak Toba community believes that betel leaves or demban are very important and sacred to them for every traditional ceremony. Betel leaves or demban are a symbol of blessing for them and a prayer to be kept away from danger so that the traditional ceremonies carried out can be blessed and run smoothly until the end. This study confirms that betel leaves form a “web of significance” that integrates health, tradition, and spirituality. These findings show that traditional medicine and traditional symbols are inseparable in the local knowledge system of the Batak Toba people and contribute to cultural preservation and sustainable development based on local wisdom.

Abstract

This study analyzes the accountability crisis in the implementation of public policy in the mining sector through a case study of PT Juya Aceh Mining (PT JAM) in Southwest Aceh Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis of regional regulations, media reports, and academic literature. The analytical framework refers to Van Meter and Van Horn's policy implementation theory, UNDP's good governance principles, and the perspective of public policy ethics. The results of the study show weak transparency, oversight, and public participation in mine management, as well as a lack of moral integrity among policy makers. The CSR program is symbolic in nature, does not involve the community in a participatory manner, and lacks clear accountability mechanisms. These conditions have triggered social tensions, land conflicts, environmental damage, and a decline in public trust in the government and the company. PT JAM's activities are considered to reflect policy failure and public ethics violations, as the local government has not effectively carried out its role of oversight and protection of the community. This study emphasizes that successful public policy requires not only good regulations, but also ethical commitment, bureaucratic capacity, and public control mechanisms. Strengthening governance based on transparency, accountability, and participation is a prerequisite for preventing conflict and ensuring sustainable natural resource management.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using student worksheets (LKPD) integrated with Nusantara ethnic culture on students’ mathematical numeracy skills through the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual) learning model. This research employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental design with a Post-test Only Control Group Design. The participants were eleventh-grade students of SMA Nurul Iman Tanjung Morawa in the 2025/2026 academic year, who were randomly assigned into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class was taught using culturally integrated LKPD through the SAVI learning model, while the control class received conventional instruction. The research instrument consisted of an essay-type mathematical numeracy test that had been validated by experts. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent samples t-test at a 0.05 significance level. The results indicated that the average mathematical numeracy score of students in the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Hypothesis testing revealed a significance value lower than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These findings demonstrate that the use of LKPD integrated with Nusantara ethnic culture through the SAVI learning model has a positive and significant effect on improving students’ mathematical numeracy skills. Therefore, culturally integrated worksheets can serve as an effective contextual learning alternative to enhance students’ mathematical numeracy abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of self-concept on parasocial relationships in readers of teenlit genre fiction literature. This study uses a quantitative approach method involving 100 female adolescent respondents aged 18–21 years who were limited through purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments are in the form of a self-concept scale and a parasocial relationship scale whose validity and reliability have been tested. Data were analyzed using a simple linear regression test to see the influence between variables. The results of the analysis show that self-concept has a significant effect on parasocial relationships with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an R Square value of 0.121. And the results of the correlation analysis also show that self-concept has a positive and significant relationship with parasocial relationships (r = 0.348; 0.000), which means that both variables run in the same direction, so the higher the reader's self-concept, the higher the possibility of forming a parasocial relationship. These findings indicate that self-concept contributes 12% to parasocial relationships, while the remaining 88% is influenced by other factors outside this study.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the conditions of ethical dilemmas in mass media journalists during the 2024 General Election. This study uses a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach using interview techniques. There were 3 participants. The results of the interview will be analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. From the results of the study, it is known that the ethical dilemma felt by the participants, indirectly and unconsciously by the participants, was actually seen during the interview. Although participants always remember and hold the principle of remaining neutral, objective and always writing news accurately while carrying out their duties as Journalists, as citizens, participants are still aware of their rights and also their role during the election to continue to vote in support of the candidate pair they support. This tends to cause a feeling of dilemma to choose between 2 situations, namely the tendency to support certain candidates or maintain the integrity of the profession as journalism while covering the 2024 election. However, it is also known that participants do uphold the principles, values, individual rights, and individual obligations as journalists in writing news accurately and objectively. Thus, it can be said that the participants are aware of the ethical elements of a journalist, which causes control/control over the behavior of the participants while carrying out their duties as journalists.
