Abstract

This research examines the underlying ideology(s) of a TV program called ‘Film Television’ (FTV). This TV program is on during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Specifically, using framing analysis and gender perspective approach as a methodology, this research analyses the ways in which these ideologies developed in FTV. Six prime samples of FTV were chosen, namely Laki-laki Buaya Darat, Cowok Gue IQ-nya Ancur Banget, Cowok Gue Pendek Bener, Pacar honorer, Ganteng-ganteng Medit, Pacar Gue Brondong. The findings reveal a thrust of twin-contrarian thrust of messaging. There are two embedded ideologies underlying the FTV. First, the FTV production house carries a patriarchal ideology by raising themes that discriminate against women through stereotypes against women that appear in the story. Second, the FTV production house carries the ideology of feminism, with themes that position women as super-ordinates. Women occupy a higher social class than men. This finding of twin-contrarian ideological thrust offers an important contribution to the gender theoretical vacuum of Indonesian TV as an example of Asian teen romanticism in national TV programming during a global crisis.  It has conceptual implication on the repertoire of social science knowledge, especially sociology particularly research on womens body and beauty, sociology of gender and media, and sociology of family.

Abstract

Climate change and other environmental problems have become a global concern. Intrinsically, this creates higher education institutions such as Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) taking part in various green campus measurements to address this problem. This study analyzes the factors of how higher education institutions such as UMY and USM initiate green campuses and sustainable universities. It assumes these two universities align with the implementation of green campus initiation despite their different university status. This research is qualitative research using a comparative study between UMY and USM. This research data uses interviews from the university website, especially university leaders and all related stakeholders, and secondary data such as relevant documents and articles related to this study. Therefore, in this study, the authors use the framework theory of planned behavior, which systematically analyzes the factors that influence the behavior of stakeholders, especially university leaders, by looking at three factors: environmental motive and concern, educational university programs, and promotional activities. By employing planned behavior analysis, it was found that both universities have initiated to become green campuses by implementing various programs and collaborating with stakeholders such as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), communities, and other academic communities. In addition, participating in green campus measurements demonstrates the role of UMY and USM in contributing to good university governance. It reflects their role as universities in mitigating the impact of climate change caused by using non-environmentally friendly energy and waste. All in all, the two universities, UMY and USM, have vital initiatives in the practice of sustainable university.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah negara yang dikenal dengan beragam produk pertanian. Produk pertanian yang dihasilkan meliputi pangan dan hortikultura. Produk hortikultura yang sering ditanam oleh masyarakat adalah bawang merah. Bawang merah merupakan salah satu komoditas yang memiliki tingkat risiko yang tinggi yaitu harga yang fluktuatif. Harga bawang merah dapat naik dan turun hanya dalam waktu beberapa minggu. Fluktuasi harga bawang merah dapat terjadi karena tidak ada aturan yang melindungi harga bawang merah. Kondisi mekanisme pasar menentukan harga bawang merah, sehingga hukum penawaran dan permintaan menentukan naik turunnya harga. Langkah-langkah yang tepat diperlukan untuk memprediksi harga bawang merah dalam beberapa periode berikutnya dan meminimalkan risiko kerugian petani. Harga bawang merah berubah setiap minggu, sehingga diperlukan prediksi harga bawang merah menggunakan metode Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) adalah salah satu Jaringan Saraf Tiruan (ANN) yang populer. Model MLP yang dibangun terbukti dapat memprediksi harga bawang merah di Jawa Timur. Perbandingan data uji dan pelatihan terbaik adalah 2:1, yang memiliki kesalahan terkecil dari model lainnya. Ini bisa disebabkan oleh faktor parameter yang tidak sesuai. Perbedaan jumlah epoch dalam penelitian ini berdampak signifikan dalam meminimalisasi kesalahan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji literasi sosial keagamaan di kalangan santri alumni pesantren. Literasi sosial keagamaan merujuk pada kemampuan untuk memaknai dan menginterpretasikan dunia sosial secara religius, tidak terbatas pada aspek membaca dan menulis teks-teks keagamaan saja. Konsep ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial Peter L. Berger dan pemikiran Henry A. Giroux sebagai landasan teori. Pendekatan metodologis yang digunakan adalah studi kasus Robert K. Yin dengan analisis data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang pernah mengenyam pendidikan di pondok pesantren memiliki literasi sosial keagamaan yang lebih baik daripada siswa non pondok pesantren. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pengalaman hidup di lingkungan pesantren yang kental dengan nilai-nilai dan ideologi Islam. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi peran penting pesantren dalam membentuk literasi sosial keagamaan siswa, yang menjadi bekal penting bagi mereka dalam memaknai realitas sosial dari sudut pandang agama. This study examines religious social literacy among pesantren alumni students. Religious social literacy refers to the ability to interpret and interpret the social world religiously, not limited to the aspects of reading and writing religious texts alone. This concept is analysed using Peter L. Berger's social construction theory and Henry A. Giroux's thoughts as theoretical foundations. The methodological approach used is Robert K. Yin's case study with qualitative data analysis. The results showed that students who have been educated in boarding schools have better religious social literacy than non-boarding school students. This is due to the experience of living in a pesantren environment that is thick with Islamic values and ideology. The findings confirm the significant role of Islamic boarding schools in shaping students' religious social literacy, which is an important provision for them in interpreting social reality from a religious perspective

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hidden curriculum dalam buku pelajaran Sosiologi SMA dari era Megawati hingga Jokowi, serta mekanisme transfer ideologi dari siswa kepada anak usia dini. Dengan menggunakan analisis konten dan teori Reproduksi Ideologi Althusser, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa buku pelajaran Sosiologi mengarahkan siswa untuk memandang ketidaksetaraan sosial sebagai masalah individual, bukan struktural, serta menanamkan nilai nasionalisme dan multikulturalisme. Transfer ideologi ini berlangsung melalui learning continuum, di mana siswa SMA mentransfer nilai-nilai tersebut kepada anak-anak usia dini melalui interaksi sosial, yang memperkuat penerimaan terhadap hierarki sosial yang ada. Buku teks, meski memberikan ruang terbatas untuk kritik terhadap pemerintah, berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai sumber pengetahuan, tetapi juga sebagai alat untuk mempertahankan status quo sosial, ekonomi, dan politik yang ada. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan evaluasi kurikulum untuk mendorong pemikiran kritis, mengintegrasikan perspektif kritis, serta pemberdayaan siswa dalam mengkritisi ketidakadilan struktural.

Abstract

As the highest authority in Indonesia’s education sector, Nadiem Makarim plays a crucial role in shaping the discourse on ideal education through curriculum policies. However, the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar (Independence Policy) in higher education has sparked both support and criticism. This study aims to analyze the discourse surrounding the policy’s implementation using a qualitative approach and Sara Mills’ discourse analysis framework, which examines actor positioning within texts. Research data is sourced from media texts, and the study applies Michael W. Apple’s theory of ideology and power, which argues that educational institutions not only regulate behaviour but also shape the meaning of knowledge within the curriculum. Findings reveal two key aspects of Sara Mills’ discourse analysis: position-object analysis and author-reader positioning. The study identifies the Indonesian government, represented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek), as the dominant actor with authority over decision-making. Meanwhile, students, educators, and education practitioners serve as both implementers and beneficiaries of the policy. The research highlights how Kemdikbudristek, as a power holder, influences the discourse on ideal higher education through the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which is shaped by various ideological factors, including the perspectives of its leadership. This study contributes to discussions on curriculum formulation in higher education and offers insights for policymakers in designing future education policies.

Abstract

This study traces the formation, development and decline of the Deli Hindu Sabba organization in the city of Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. This article examines the emergence of Indian Tamil community organizations in the pre-independence period of Indonesia. This paper uses historical research methods to reconstruct events in the past. Data obtained through literature study from various documents. The data obtained were processed using critical methods to determine the authenticity and validity of the data obtained. The analytical method used is descriptive narrative to describe the chronology of events and aspects that affect the course of events. The study found that the Deli Hindu Sabba organization had its ups and downs: it was founded in 1913 and had developed since, but it stopped conducting activities in 1918 until Kumarasamy took over this organization in 1928. After that, Kumarasamy was pivotal role in the development and activities of this organisation. These activities included providing free education with Tamil language guidance, Indian Boy Scout and Mother Paguthi to empower Tamil community in Medan. Besides that, various arts and sports activities were also carried out. However, the organization suffered a setback in 1942 when former chairman of organization converted into Buddhism, making the organization lacked the important figures that could become its spearhead. In addition, it is the same year of the Japanese occupation which had banned all organizations in Indonesia during that time. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the level of social media addiction on gadget intoxication behavior among adolescents in the city of Surabaya. The approach used was quantitative with a survey method, involving 286 adolescent respondents aged 17–19 years who actively use social media every day. The research instrument was compiled based on indicators from the theory of behavioral addiction and analyzed using Pearson correlation test and simple linear regression. The results of the study showed that the level of social media addiction was in the high category and had a positive and significant influence on gadget drunk behavior. A correlation coefficient of 0.682 and an influence contribution of 46.5% showed that almost half of the variation in gadget drunk behavior was influenced by social media addiction. In addition, relationships with peers also reinforce these behavioral tendencies through social pressure and digital conformity. This research emphasizes the importance of digital literacy, self-regulation, parental supervision, and the active role of schools and society in preventing adolescents' addictive behavior towards gadgets and excessive use of social media.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance the pedagogical competence of Social Studies (IPS) teachers in Lamongan Regency in implementing literacy-based learning and assessment. The program was initiated in response to teachers’ limited understanding of comprehensive literacy concepts and their challenges in designing learning strategies and authentic assessment tools that measure students’ critical thinking skills. The activity was conducted through workshops and sharing sessions using participatory approaches, including interactive lectures, group discussions, and practical sessions on designing literacy-based lesson plans and assessment instruments. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding and ability to apply literacy principles in Social Studies instruction. Most participants were able to identify literacy elements, design learning activities that promote critical thinking, and develop authentic literacy-based assessment tools. Furthermore, the training fostered collaboration among teachers through the MGMP as a sustainable professional learning community. Overall, this program contributes to improving the quality of Social Studies learning in Lamongan Regency and serves as a best practice model that can be replicated in other regions.
