Abstract

This study delves into the depth of moral values contained in Pupuh Gambuh, especially Pupuh III from Serat Wulangreh, a monumental classical Javanese literary work by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV. As an integral part of the Javanese literary treasury, this song is not just a string of words, but a reflection of rich and profound moral, ethical, and life wisdom teachings. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach combined with philological and hermeneutic methods, this study aims to uncover the implicit and explicit moral messages in the text. The analysis conducted identified a number of noble values that are still very relevant to the context of modern society. Honesty, as the main foundation of community life, is raised as the central theme. Exemplary behavior, which emphasizes the importance of imitating good behavior even though it comes from individuals who are considered lowly, demonstrates the principles of egalitarianism and moral objectivity. Humility is contrasted with the dangers of arrogance (adigung, adiguna, adigang), showing how important a humble attitude is to avoid self-destruction. These values are not only limited to moral teachings, but also a reflection of Javanese local wisdom which is rich in humanist values. The research contributes significantly to the reinterpretation of Javanese local wisdom values in the context of character education development. By analyzing Pupuh III Serat Wulangreh in depth, this research is expected to provide new insights into how these noble values can be implemented in everyday life. The implementation of these values is believed to be able to enrich the nation's character education treasury, forming a young generation with noble character and able to face the challenges of morality in the modern era. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for the development of a character education curriculum based on local wisdom values, while preserving the nation's valuable cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of the ability to write Javanese language news using the Project Based Learning method in class VIII students of MTs AL-M'ARIF Gembong Pati. This is due to the lack of interest of students in learning to write Javanese language news and the learning method is less appropriate so that there is a lack of enthusiasm in the learning process in the classroom. Thus, the formulation of the problem in this study is how are the results of the ability to write Javanese language news using the Project Based Learning method. This study is included in pre-experimental research, namely one-shot case study. The approach used in this study is a descriptive quantitative approach, the calculation of data used in the study in the form of purposive sampling, and the data obtained in this study were collected by taking documentation and questionnaires. From the percentage, it can be concluded that the category of student scores in the knowledge aspect is fairly good according to the assessment guidelines, namely with an average score of 83.78. 2) In the skills aspect, there are 11 students with a percentage of 37% in the very good category. In addition, there are 17 students with a percentage of 57% in the good category. Then as many as 2 students with a percentage of 7% with a sufficient category. From this percentage it can be concluded that the category of student scores is fairly good according to the assessment guidelines, which is an average of 84.97. Thus, the ability to write Javanese language news using the Project Based Learning method in class VIII students of MTs AL-MA'ARIF Gembong Pati can have an influence on learning achievement.

Abstract

The use of figures of speech and diction in this anthology is also an important element that makes it a work deserving of deeper study. Figures of speech are the use of the richness of language with certain varieties to achieve effects. This study aims to describe the figures of speech and diction employed in the anthology of geguritan Kawula Mung Saderma by Jadid Al Farisy. This type of research is qualitative research. The data collection techniques used are the Listening technique and the note-taking technique. The data analysis techniques used are: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of the study can be concluded that by studying the 6 selected geguritan, namely Jampining Ati, Sekaring Sonya, Jimat Abang Putih, Kusumaning Nagri, Lir Gumanti, Setija, from the 6 geguritan it was found that the use of figures of speech in these geguritan is diverse, including metaphor, personification, paradox and hyperbole, symbolic and repetition which strengthen the aesthetics and meaning in each verse. The diction used by the poet includes denotation, connotation, abstract words, concrete words and general words. This shows the accuracy in choosing words that reflect the depth of meaning and the strong nuances of Javanese culture. This study can be developed by analyzing other stylistic aspects, such as phonology, syntax, or discourse in Geguritan Kawula Mung Saderma.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of the application of the project-based learning model in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI students of SMA N 1 Juwana in the 2023-2024 Academic Year. The background of this study is the lack of student interest in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI A students. The difficulties experienced by students include, in the selection of aspects of sentence effectiveness and punctuation, completeness of content, and the structure of explanatory texts are still not understood by students so that there are still errors in their application. In addition, learning media that are not yet varied are one of the factors causing the lack of enthusiasm of students in the learning process. Thus, the formulation of the problem obtained is how are the results of the application of digital scrapbook media in learning to write explanatory texts for students. This research is included in experimental research with the approach used, namely quantitative descriptive with a pre-experimental design. The data obtained in this study were collected by means of observation and questionnaires, while the sampling used was purposive sampling. The type used in this study is a one-shot case study. After data analysis, 1) In the knowledge aspect, 12 students or 66% obtained scores above the KKM, while 6 students or 34% had not achieved the KKM completion. The KKM value determined in Javanese language learning is 70. From the obtained scores, the average obtained was 75.9. 2) In the skills aspect, 13 students or 72% obtained scores above the KKM. while 5 students or 28% had not achieved the KKM completion. From the obtained scores, the average obtained was 72.7. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the application of digital scrapbook media in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI students can have an influence on the specified learning objectives. Thus, the application of digital scrapbook media in learning to write explanatory texts for class XI A students can have an influence on the achievement of the specified learning objectives.

Abstract

Moral education in schools is an essential part of character development rooted in local cultural values, particularly Javanese culture, which upholds the principle of “Wong Jawa Saé Ilang Jawane” (Javanese people should not lose their Javanese identity). Serat Wulangreh, written by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana IV—especially the Pupuh Kinanthi section—contains moral teachings that are highly relevant for junior high school students. This study aims to explain how moral education based on Wulangreh Pupuh Kinanthi is implemented for students at SMP. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include classroom observations, in-depth interviews with Javanese language teachers and students, and documentation of texts and teaching materials. The findings reveal that Pupuh Kinanthi conveys moral values such as respect for parents, humility, patience, and the importance of knowledge. These values are taught through appropriate methods such as class discussions, verse-by-verse interpretation, and personal reflection. This learning approach has been proven to increase students' awareness of the importance of good attitudes and behaviors in daily life, despite some challenges such as limited instructional time and low student interest in classical literature. This study recommends the use of local texts as effective media for character education that align with cultural contexts and contemporary needs.

Abstract

The research entitled Word Values in the Emprit Abutut Bedhug Novel by Suparto Brata formulates three research problems, namely forms, functions and word values in the Emprit Abutut Bedhug novel by Suparto Brata. The word forms in Emprit Abuntut Bedhug's novel by Suparto Brata are in the form of adjectives, phrases, and clauses, dominated by word forms in the form of phrases. Emprit Abutut Bedhug's novel by Suparto Brata is a neat novel using a variety of Javanese languages both in ngoko and krama. While the value of the word discussed there are six, among others: the value of the word inappropriate, the value of the word that has a high value, the value of the word that has a bad value, the value of the word that has a rough value, the value of the word that has a funny value, and the value of the word that has a level value or high degree. For the value of words that have a funny value in the novel Emprit Abuntut Bedhug by Suparto Brata, it is not found and the word value that has a high level or degree is dominant.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the character values contained in Serat Wulangreh Pupuh Durma, a didactic Javanese literary work authored by Sri Pakubuwono IV, and to explore its relevance for character development among students in the modern era. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and hermeneutic analysis, the study investigates the moral and spiritual messages embedded in the twelve stanzas of the Pupuh Durma macapat poem. The findings reveal that Pupuh Durma embodies noble values such as self-control, personal responsibility, humility, ethical communication, social honesty, and civility. These values are highly relevant in addressing contemporary challenges faced by students, particularly in the digital age, including a lack of self-restraint, cyberbullying, hate speech, and a crisis of cultural identity. Moreover, the values in Pupuh Durma align closely with the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile promoted in Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum, and can be integrated into character education through local wisdom-based learning, such as regional language instruction, Javanese literature, and project-based character strengthening. Therefore, revitalizing traditional literary works like Pupuh Durma is essential in fostering students with strong character, deep cultural roots, and resilience to navigate modern-day challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the skills of seventh-grade students at MTs. Puteri Al-Amin Martapura in writing pantun (a traditional form of Indonesian poetry) in the Banjar language as an effort to preserve local culture. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected from 66 pantun produced by students, which were analyzed based on internal structures, values, and language use. The findings indicate that students demonstrate a good understanding of the fundamental structure of pantun, adhering to the rhyme scheme a-b-a-b, although some face challenges in selecting appropriate diction and relevant themes. The pantun reflects cultural, moral, educational, and religious values, embodying local wisdom. External factors, such as family environment and personal experiences, significantly influence students' writing skills. Contextual and creative learning approaches yielded positive outcomes in enhancing linguistic competence and cultural understanding. This study concludes that integrating pantun writing into education enhances students' writing skills while fostering the preservation of Banjar culture in South Kalimantan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang peran keluarga dan komunitas dalam upaya revitalisasi penggunaan bahasa Jawa di kalangan generasi muda. Menurunnya minat dan kemampuan berbahasa Jawa pada kaum muda menjadi perhatian khusus karena mengancam kelestarian bahasa dan budaya Jawa. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi efektif yang diterapkan oleh keluarga ataupun komunitas dalam upaya mendorong dan mempertahankan penggunaan bahasa Jawa pada kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan dukungan yang aktif dan konsisten dari keluarga melalui percakapan sehari-hari dan pengenalan nilai-nilai budaya menjadi fondasi utama. Sementara itu, peran komunitas dalam menciptakan ruang aman dan interaktif untuk praktik berbahasa, seperti sanggar seni, pengajian, atau kelompok diskusi berbahasa Jawa, secara signifikan meningkatkan motivasi dan rasa percaya diri generasi muda.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe "The Application of Short Film Animation Media in Learning the Mahabharata Wayang Story Text for Class X AKL3 Students of SMKN 1 Kendal. This study was motivated by the fact that there are still many students who found that a number of students still have difficulty in listening to literary works, especially in learning the Mahabharata Wayang Story Text. Short film animation media in learning the Mahabharata Wayang Story Text emerged as an interesting alternative. This study is included in quantitative research. Two variables commonly used in quantitative research are independent variables and dependent variables. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data collection used in this study includes test and non-test techniques. The results of the study obtained after data analysis are as follows: The results of student scores obtained from the knowledge and skills aspects, the results of the study explain that out of 35 students, 29 students have completed with a percentage of 83% and 6 students with a percentage of 17% have not completed. The average value obtained from student learning outcomes is 79.2, which is higher than the KKM value of 70. Thus, the application of short film animation media in learning the Mahabharata puppet story text for class X AKL3 students of SMKN 1 Kendal can have an influence on learning achievement.
