Abstract

Taugi Village, Masama District is one of the rice production centers in Banggai Regency. Currently, the problem faced in the production of paddy rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the decline in paddy rice productivity which is influenced by the decline in land fertility. The purpose of this study was to determine the status of soil fertility and the quality of irrigated rice fields in Taugi Village, Masama District. This study took place from October 2023 to January 2024. The methods used were C-organic with the walkley & black method, P2O5 olsen method, K2O, KTK and KB (me / 100 g) and pH PUTS method (rice field soil test kit). soil samples for composites and put in plastic bags for analysis in the Chemistry and Soil Fertility Laboratory. The results of the laboratory analysis will be tabulated in the form of a table to determine the status of soil fertility and the criteria for the suitability of rice fields. The results of the study showed that the soil fertility status of rice fields in Taugi Village, Masama District at points (1,2,3,4 and 5) had a low status which was influenced by the content of KB, N, K2O, C-organic and low soil pH. Therefore, it is necessary to add organic materials and fertilizers containing Nitrogen (N) to improve the fertility status of the soil. Furthermore, the suitability of rice fields in Taugi Village, Masama District is classified as Quite Suitable, it is necessary to make improvements such as adding organic materials and liming, so that a potential rice field land suitability class is obtained.

Abstract

Banggai yam is one of the food crop agricultural commodities categorized as an endemic plant of Banggai Islands Regency. Besides being endemic, Banggai yam is also the main food for the people of Banggai Islands, especially in Totikum. So it is necessary to conduct research with the aim of knowing the nutrients in banggai yam land and the direction of banggai yam development in Sambiut village and Abason village, Totikum District, Banggai Islands Regency. The research was conducted in Sambiut and Abason Villages using a descriptive exploratory survey approach. Furthermore, the results of the analysis obtained will be tabulated in tabular form and narrated in sentence form. Based on the results of laboratory analysis of banggai yam plants in the totikum district of Sambiut and Abason villages have a marginal category (S3), because the limiting factor is rainfall base saturation. The limiting factor of rainfall can be improved by changing the planting time or making irrigation channels for the water needs of plants, although it requires relatively high costs. Furthermore, the limiting factor of base saturation can be improved by applying dolomite lime or organic materials such as biochar. Thus, the results of potential land suitability in Sambiut and Abason Villages are moderately suitable (S2). These results are expected to provide information to stakeholders in managing banggai yam land in order to obtain more production in the future, so that Ubi banggai can be available as food in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Pre-harvest production estimation of oil palm is needed to determine the need for labor and facilities related to harvesting activities. The research was conducted at the Cikabayan Farm, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University. The activity aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the estimation of the real results of fresh fruit bunch production. Estimated production is influenced by plant population per ha, harvest density, and average basket weight. The average estimated harvest density rate was 5.1% and the fresh fruit bunch weight was 13 kg. The accurate estimated value was influenced by the accuracy of the harvest density observation. This shows that the calculation of harvest density and fresh fruit bunches with the peak harvest month and low harvest month. The accuracy of the estimation calculation is influenced by the accuracy of the harvest density observation and the determination of the right fresh fruit bunches.

Abstract

In Indonesia, vegetables and fruit are available in various varieties. This is also accompanied by quite high consumption interest. Vegetables and fruit are classified into climacteric and non-climacteric groups. With the high interest in consumption, abundant availability and climacteric properties of vegetables and fruit, a technology is needed that can maintain the quality of the ingredients, namely post-harvest technology. The aim of this research was to determine the post-harvest handling applied to kale vegetables. This research was carried out in a hydroponic-based water spinach garden located on Jl. Majapahit, Sukmajaya District, Depok through the observation and interview stage of one of the hydroponic garden owners who is part of the Mekarbesari Women Farming Community (KWT). Water spinach plants are harvested at the age of 14 days and immediately marketed. After being harvested, the kale vegetables are first sorted. Next, it is weighed, packaged and handed over to consumers. Water spinach vegetables will be harvested after meeting the harvesting age criteria, with the physical appearance of large, strong stems and large leaves. Vegetables that have been harvested are sorted to separate the good parts from the parts that have decreased in quality. The owner does not go through the storage stage. Products handed over to consumers are packaged using plastic, which does not comply with the packaging criteria required to maintain the general shelf life of kale vegetables.

Abstract

Gansal Village is one of the villages located in the Banggai Islands, which has a significant production of seaweed, especially in the Tinangkung Selatan District. The seaweed production obtained in Gansal Village is relatively high; however, this does not necessarily mean that the income earned is also high. Therefore, a study is needed to analyze the income and feasibility of seaweed farming in Gansal Village, with the determination of respondents conducted using simple random sampling method. A total of 26 respondents were sampled from a population of 113 farmers (23%) who cultivate seaweed. The analysis results indicate that the average income per farmer from one production cycle in Gansal Village, Tinangkung Selatan District, Banggai Islands Regency is Rp. 13,351,903. The analysis shows that the R/C Ratio for seaweed farming is 4.3, indicating that seaweed farming in Gansal Village, Tinangkung Selatan District, is feasible. To further optimize this potential, it is important for the government and related institutions to provide training and extension services to farmers on more efficient and environmentally friendly cultivation techniques. It is also hoped that seaweed farming in Gansal Village will not only develop better but also provide a broader positive impact on the community and the regional economy.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays) is a very important food crop for society. Currently the government is trying to increase corn production, namely by using fertilizer so that placement is more effective, it is necessary to know the nutrient status around the plant. Phosphorus is one of the three nutrients that plays an important role in plant growth. The land in South Balantak District is mostly land with different heights. Altitude affects phosphorus uptake in the soil. Seeing its easily fixed nature and the presence of phosphorus in the soil which is small but needed in large quantities, the role of P is very important in maintaining the availability of phosphorus for the growth of corn plants. This encourages the need to evaluate the current and available P nutrient status, especially in corn fields in South Balantak District. The aim of this research is to determine the phosphorus nutrient content in corn fields at different altitudes according to land units in South Balantak District. This research was carried out in October 2023 – January 2024. Four representative samples were taken of soil from corn fields at different heights in South Balantak District. This research uses a descriptive survey method. The results of soil analysis of phosphorus nutrients at the research location at an altitude of 0 to 150 meters above sea level were classified as low. Meanwhile, at an altitude of > 150 to 250 meters above sea level, the phosphorus content is classified as moderate.
