Abstract

This paper was aimed at investigating the English needs of garment and apparel fashion technology trainees of the Ethiopian Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute. A sequential mixed research design was used to conduct this study. The data-gathering instruments were questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and direct observation. All the trainees were considered to fill out the survey questionnaire. Besides, interviews were held with ten possessively selected trainees. The third data collection tool was direct observation. Three different observations were held in two different contexts. The interview and observation were used to clarify issues that had been discussed from the data collected through the questionnaire. The findings revealed that the most important English language skills for trainees’ future job are speaking, writing, listening, and reading in decreasing order of importance. About the ability of the trainees, they are relatively better in reading and listening than in speaking and writing skills. The important and difficult English language sub-skills for the trainees are also identified and prioritized concerning the English macro-skills. Finally, the preferred learning style of trainees is the visual learning strategy.

Factors driving this disruption include globalization and Industrial Revolution 4.0 (including Society 5.0), demands for Sustainable Development Goals, and the incessant COVID-19 pandemic. The importance of multimedia digital era so that they are not hampered in carrying out their mandate due to the transition from offline to online learning. And coverage for students and parents so that they do not stutter suddenly as an implication of a shift in learning mode. Methodologically, this research uses a qualitative approach, especially an integrative review. After going through four stages of the procedural process (Design, Implementation, Analysis, and Writing Results and Review), this research succeeded in informing the four basics of being a virtual teacher in the digital era. One: Ten Characteristics of Virtual Teachers in the Digital Age. Two: Transform yourself into a true virtual teacher according to the demands of 21st-century learning (cultural, functional, and digital transformation). Abstract

The current research aims to analyze the relationship between academic stress and study habits in Peruvian university students. A quantitative method was employed, with a non-experimental design, basic research type, and relational level. The study was conducted with a population of 133 students from various specialties at the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University of Santa María in Arequipa, selecting a sample of 99 students for the study. For data collection, two instruments were applied: the Likert scale questionnaire called SISCO Inventory, consisting of 29 questions to assess the level of stress, and another Likert scale questionnaire, called Study Habits Inventory, comprising 53 questions to evaluate the knowledge about study habits. After conducting the correlation between the variables under study, it was determined that there is a very strong inverse correlation between academic stress and study habits, approaching a perfect correlation. The correlation coefficient obtained was r^2 = (-0.840)^2 = 0.706. This indicates that 70.6% of academic stress affects the study habits of students at the School of Education of the aforementioned university. The significance level of this correlation is very strong, implying that the higher the level of academic stress, the worse the study habits of the students, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of digital literacy into higher education curricula, focusing on its impact at Online Women University. The introduction delineates the importance of digital literacy in preparing students for success in the digital era. The purpose of the study is to explore the implications of digital literacy integration, encompassing student perceptions, experiences, and technology usage patterns. Methodologically, a cross-sectional research design was employed, with data collected from 150 participants, including students and lecturers, using convenience sampling. Surveys were administered to capture insights into digital literacy, technology usage, and educational experiences. Both descriptive and inferential analyses, including frequencies, percentages, ANOVA, chi-square tests, and regression analysis, were conducted to discern relationships and patterns. Results indicate varying levels of digital literacy integration across faculties, with notable differences in technology usage and perceived empowerment through digital literacy. Notably, the mean score for post-test digital literacy skills increased significantly compared to pre-test scores. The study also reveals high confidence levels in using digital tools for academic purposes among students, influenced by factors such as experience and training. In conclusion, the findings underscore the importance of integrating digital literacy into higher education curricula. They highlight the need for ongoing support and training to enhance digital literacy skills among students and educators. Despite limitations such as convenience sampling, the study contributes valuable insights into the role of digital literacy in academia, emphasizing its significance in preparing students for the digital challenges of the future.

Abstract

The coronavirus caused the global effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in early 2020. Due to the emergence of various infectious illnesses, it is essential for medical students to possess the skills to investigate and treat them. Therefore, it is essential for medical students to peruse the materials provided by the World Health Organisation in order to get a comprehensive understanding of the many symptoms associated with the recently emerged illness, as well as the need for early detection and prevention. Hence, the objective of this study is to emphasise the significance of medical students engaging with novel sources of information and how their proficiency in doing so, whether effective or ineffective, is contingent upon their reading comprehension strategies. Many medical students globally lack sufficient understanding of the recommended infection control practices. Their reading impairments also hindered their comprehension of their medical condition, resulting in delayed diagnosis and inadequate use of preventive medications. The study findings show that, due to the limited scope of medical education programmes, the curriculum for medical colleges did not provide comprehensive instruction on reading comprehension techniques. Currently, there is a lack of comprehensive academic literacy training for medical research in these curricula. Thus, anyone pursuing a medical education should acquire knowledge by studying the resources provided by the World Health Organisation.

Abstract

Almagirci has recently become an ideological battlefield debate about the roles of government to support them, which sometimes often focuses on feeding. It is expected that all children should equally attain the highest standard of education and nutrition through a school feeding scheme, but in the context of Nigeria, the commitment is different, especially for Almajirai. This study aims to examine the likely challenges in including Almagirai in Nigerian school feeding schemes with an emphasis on people's perceptions. The use of a survey research method through a questionnaire was adopted by the researchers, administered in Mubi North and South local government area of Adamawa State, Nigeria. The survey area represents only two out of hundreds of local governments in the country where Almajirai are sited. The findings revealed that out of 220 respondents, 166 (75.45%) and 174 (79.09%) strongly disagree with the current situation of Almajirai in terms of their feeding and the government commitments toward Almagiranci respectively. It was also revealed that 188 (85.45%) of respondents strongly agreed and in support of governments to include Almajirai in the school feeding scheme, simultaneously, 198 (90.00%) respondents responded that the inclusion will have a positive impact on their learning. In response to these challenges, It is expected that governments should move urgently to bring Almagirai under their oversight and regulation to enable her to take care of nutrition and the standard of their education.

Abstract

Mobile applications have emerged as innovative tools in Quranic education, presenting opportunities to enhance learning experiences and engage students effectively. This study aims to assess the impact of mobile applications on Quranic education through a comprehensive survey-based investigation. The research method involved designing a structured questionnaire to gather data on various dimensions, including application usage patterns, effectiveness ratings, contributions to educational improvement, perceived impacts on students' understanding and retention of Quranic knowledge, enhancement of student performance, and comparisons between traditional and mobile application-based learning methods. The population for this study consisted of students enrolled in online university programs with a focus on Quranic education, with a sample size of 60 respondents contributing valuable insights. Quantitative data analysis encompassed descriptive statistics and inferential methods, enabling a thorough examination of survey responses and relationships between variables. The findings reveal diverse usage patterns of Quranic education applications, with respondents attributing significant value to mobile applications in enhancing Quranic education. Positive perceptions regarding the effectiveness of mobile applications in improving student performance and understanding of Quranic knowledge were prevalent among participants. Additionally, a clear preference for mobile application-based learning emerged over traditional methods. The study underscores the importance of leveraging mobile technology to enrich Quranic education and highlights avenues for future research in this domain. Overall, the research contributes to advancing knowledge on the role of mobile applications in Quranic education and informs pedagogical practices in digital learning environments.
