Abstract

Mathematics is often called uninteresting and considered abstract. One way that can be used to introduce mathematics is by relating it to daily life or special local culture, which is called ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics is a combination of mathematical elements with cultural aspects and social context in society. One of the cultures that exists in society is weaving. In South Tapanuli itself there is a woven cloth which is a local cultural heritage, namely the Sipirok Woven cloth. In this research, the science implemented is Transformation Geometry. Transformation Geometry is a science that discusses change, these changes can be in the form of changes in shape or changes in presentation based on matrices and images. This research is included in the type of exploratory research, namely exploring woven fabric motifs that can be used in learning Transformational Geometry. The process of compiling one element of the sipirok motif can be carried out in various ways and in a certain sequence of transformations. The transformation that will be used to compose sipirok batik in this article is reflection.

Abstract

English is an essential skill that must be acquired. It is a globally understood language that facilitates communication between individuals from different countries. There are several methods to achieve proficiency in English; one of them is via reading literature. A textbook serves as both a tool and a means of acquiring knowledge. Reading is a fundamental ability. Interpretation is the cognitive ability or process of extracting meaning or understanding from written or spoken communication. Today, technology is advancing swiftly, making tasks more convenient than ever before. Individuals are no longer need to actively pursue knowledge or be concerned about being in a secluded location devoid of libraries and bookshops. The data was readily accessible on our display, often at no expense, presented in a numerical format. E-books, internationally recognized as digital publications, are texts presented in a digital format. Although they may include graphics and graphs to some extent, their forms mostly make them text-oriented. The findings of the study shows that several benefits to using electronic books, but there are also drawbacks associated with them. However, the process of learning involves acquiring knowledge and effectively using it. The origin of knowledge is boundless; it may arise from any source, at any moment, and include any subject matter.

Abstract

To make it easier to present the material, one of the materials that can be developed is a handout. This research aims to produce handouts accompanied by practice questions on inheritance material for class IX SMP/MTs. This research was conducted at MTsN Lembah Gumanti in March of the 2014/2015 academic year. This research includes development research, namely the development of handouts accompanied by practice questions with modified 4-D models consisting of the define, design, and developing stages. The data is in the form of primary data, consisting of scores from filling out validity and practicality questionnaires by teachers and students. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis in the form of percentages. The handouts produced were categorized as very valid, both in the didactic, construction, and technical categories, with a handout validity value of 89.10%. The resulting handout was categorized as very practical according to the teacher with a score of 89.30%, and according to students with a score of 89.6%, it was categorized as very practical. So, it can be concluded that this research has produced handouts accompanied by practice questions that are very valid and very practical so they are suitable for use in the learning process.
