Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the role of social media in vocabulary development and language acquisition among Kurdish EFL university students. It sought to demonstrate the benefits of using social media to increase vocabulary and acquire new languages while also providing evidence of the significance of social media platforms in this process. A legitimate market research approach was employed to determine the level of language acquisition among English language department students at Halabja University and the role of social media in this context. The quantitative method was used, and a survey questionnaire was designed after getting validity and reliability; 120 participants were selected from Halabja University through Google Forms. The findings suggest that social media is a powerful tool for vocabulary learning among Kurdish EFL university students. However, further research is necessary to explore the specific features of social media that facilitate vocabulary learning and investigate the effectiveness of different social media platforms. Additionally, future studies should consider incorporating qualitative methods to provide a more nuanced understanding of the impact of social media on language acquisition among Kurdish EFL university students.

Abstract

Education is a transformative tool that is critical to the progress and development of a nation. The goal of true education is more than the cognitive development and creative thought processes. It is also about character molding of a person, making a holistic individual. It is true that the foundation of a quality education is character. An individual's education cannot be complete without character, and the knowledge they have acquired will not benefit Nigerian society or themselves unless their character is transformed. This study identifies character deficit as a major challenge in Nigeria contemporary society. The research examines the issues and prospects, and how education can be applied through character reformation to address the problems. To achieve the purpose of this study, qualitative method research is utilized. It relies on secondary data collected from text books, journal articles, and was analyzed in relation to the scope of the study (Nigeria). The theoretical framework is drawn from the social learning theory of Albert Bandura’s and moral development theory of Jean Piaget which set out the progressive model on how the Nigerian society can be morally re-engineered to produce citizens that will contribute to the progress and growth of Nigeria. It concludes and recommends that an integrative and consensus approach be adopted to achieve this objective.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in education has created opportunities for creative pedagogies. One such ground-breaking technology is ChatGPT, a learning model created by Open AI, which has enormous potential to boost productivity while also enhancing pedagogy for more captivating educational opportunities. This study aims to evaluate how well GPT Chat integrates with project-based learning. The Preferred Reporting Items for Review method was used in this study. The study's findings clarify that educational institutions need to prepare students for new forms of literacy in the fields of data, technology, and human resources in the context of the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0. Project-based learning is an approach to education that emphasizes students working together to solve a variety of problems through a sequence of steps that include information collection, project planning, and the production of a specific result that is packaged as project work. Determining fundamental questions, creating a project plan, creating a timeline, monitoring, testing findings, and experience evaluation are the phases of project-based learning. ChatGPT is a "thought partner" and research tool that can be used for many different types of educational activities. In Indonesia, the PjBL model's implementation may enhance students' motivation and academic performance. Thus, to significantly improve the standard of education and student motivation in Indonesia, more attention needs to be paid to the integration of GPT chat with project-based learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of errors and the causes of students making mistakes in solving mathematics story problems. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research. The population of this research was students in Makassar with a total of 23 students and 2 students were determined as the research sample. The results of the research found that most students experienced errors due to a lack of understanding of the existing material and behavior that tended to be careless and hasty so they made mistakes in solving math story problems. There were 4 types of student errors, namely (1) errors in reading the questions occurred because the participant's students failed to understand the content or meaning of story problems and were not able to identify relevant information in mathematics story problems (2) Conceptual errors occur because students do not understand and master the concepts of the material being taught so they are confused when determining what method is appropriate for solving story problems mathematics, (3) errors in procedures/steps occur. After all, students are not careful in carrying out calculation operations. This can be seen in the ability test of students who make calculation errors in the stages of solving story problems. (4) Errors in concluding occur because students think that concluding is not important, they assume that if they have got the final score from the calculation then the solution to the story problem has been completed.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the influence of mind mapping on improving students' creative thinking abilities. Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this article collects and analyzes relevant research results to provide a comprehensive picture of this topic. The results of the study show that mind mapping helps students organize information visually, which makes it easier for them to see relationships between concepts more clearly and holistically. The use of mind mapping has also been proven to stimulate students' creativity by encouraging them to think divergently and produce various new ideas. Additionally, mind mapping facilitates collaboration among students, allowing them to share ideas and work together on group projects, which is important for the development of creative thinking skills. By helping students see the relationships between concepts more clearly and holistically, mind mapping has proven to be effective in improving creative thinking abilities. Therefore, it is recommended that the integration of mind mapping in the learning process be implemented more widely in the educational curriculum. Teacher training regarding mind mapping techniques is also an important factor in ensuring effective and optimal implementation and improving students' creative thinking abilities. Thus, mind mapping not only functions as a learning tool but also as an effective method for developing students' overall creative potential.
