Abstract

The aims of this activities were to transfer knowledge and give an understanding about the importance of conserving Cenderawasih Kuning Kecil (Paradisaea minor) for the youth in Barawai District, Yapen Island Regency. Lectures Focus Group Discussion and Case Study were used as methods this time. We could conclude that people from all ages range were actively participated in our community services program and as a result the eye awarded by Satyalencana and Kalpataru as a form of high dedication in conserving wild animals and their habitats.Keywords: conserving, Paradisaea minor, Barawai, Kepulauan Yapen

Abstract

The application of science and technology in the form of counseling  "Anti-Corruption Education in Forming of Integrated Young Generation" is carried out at the BKKBN GenRe (Generasi Remaja) Ambassador Activity of Papua Province and Pentecostal Children's Services (Pelnap) throughout Jayapura City, with the consideration that each represents the age of adolescents and children school age. The purpose of this research and counseling is to know and understand what is corruption and also to know and understand the causes and forms of corruption. The results of this dedication are, the material provided in counseling on"Anti-Corruption Education in Forming of Integrated Young Generation  can be well received by extension participants with indicators of good responses and responses from participants with various weighted questions raised at the time of counseling take place. Finally, it is expected that counseling on anti-corruption education must be routinely carried out especially for adolescents and school-age children in the context of establishing children's integrity and also as a preventive measure in suppressing future corruption rates, and also as a form of business in establishing the nation's personal child who is honest, great and has the character of a wistle blower. Keywords: Corruption, Anti-Corruption, and Integrated

Abstract

Generally unemployment is a social problem that faced by Jayapura government, especially in Tobati youth. Thus it needs to be overcome by life skills education such as guidance and training to improve their knowledge and skills, especially in furniture (meeting tables). Abstract

Food is all products consumed by humans either in the form of raw, semi-finished, or finished materials which include industrial products, restaurants, catering, traditional food or snacks. Students are often wrong to choose the healthy foods or snacks in schools.  This  study aims  to  support  students  of  SMK  Kesehatan  Jayapura  in identifying hazardous food in school or at home. Therefore they became health educator for others students. This  activity was conducted at SMK Health Analysis Jayapura on September 14, 2017 with several methods that were: 1). Lectured in small group; 2). Preparation administration at FMIPA Uncen and SMK, 3). activities lectured and discussions of risky food, (3) evaluation and data analysis through questionnaires istributed. The number of participants were 134 people. From the results showed that 8.2% of students know how to choose healthy food. About 5.2% of participants had been got the same activity. And 90.3% of the students committed to assist others in choosing good food.Keywords: Identification, food, SMK Health, Jayapura, snacks

Abstract

The use of formalin and borax as food preservatives is prohibited by the government, because this material is toxic (poison).However, some survey results indicate that several types of food ingredients in traditional markets and other food traders still contain formalin and borax. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce to the general public  how to identify formalin and borax use simple materials and tools. Qualitative test of formalin content in food was used fehling A and fehling B solution. While the qualitative test of borax content was used in turmeric which was prepared in the form of tumeric paper. Activities between speakers and trainees were held face-to-face and the practice of identifying food ingredients containing both formalin and borax were carried out directly in the laboratory. From the results of the activities that had been carried out, it can be concluded that although the ingredients for identification of formalin and borax in food ingredients obtained from simple ingredients, cheap and easy to obtain such as fehling A and fehling B and turmeric in the form of tumeric paper, but they can identify food ingredients contains formalin and borax. Fehling A and Fehling B solutions can identify qualitatively with significant results between that contain  and  not  contain formalin. Similarly, tumeric paper can identify qualitatively with significant results between that contain and not contain borax in food ingredients. Participants were very motivated to apply the results of this activity to the community where they live especially after seeing the results of qualitative tests using fish purchased at the Hamadi traditional market during this service. Qualitative test results using fehling A and B solutions identified red snapper purchased at the traditional Hamadi market using preservatives from formalin.Keywords: Formalin, Borax, Preservatives, Fehling A, Fehling B, Turmeric

Abstract

Papua Province is in the first position for the number of illiterates. The number of illiterate people in the two districts in the Southern region of  Papua, namely Mappi Regency and Asmat Regency, is still very high, reaching 60%. Women have greater illiteracy rates than men. The Ministry of  Education and Culture notes that there are 1,157,703 men who are still illiterate. While the number of  illiterate women reached 2,258,990. Entering this information era,  literacy is an important key to improving education, health, nutrition and family welfare. Because with literacy and education, women will be more empowered, can make their own decisions and have a strong bargaining position in the family and community. Considering women as the most influential people in a group, with family as an example, women are the main focus in this matter. This activity is called Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pembelajaran Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (KKN PPM). It is a University Student Community Service which focus on Community Empowerment as the Learning Process/Activities. This takes place from July 26 to August 26, 2019, in Soba Village, Obaa District, Mappi Regency, Papua Province. Activities that involve students of Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program of the  Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Cenderawasih University are  literacy learning activities (read, write and count) with women as the target of the activities. The method used in this activity is counseling, interactive discussion and community learning assistance. The implementation of KKN-PPM activities was enthusiastically welcomed by the Government of Mappi Regency and also all the village officials and the local community. The target community, who are generally women, take part  in the literacy program very enthusiastically. The implementation of literacy activities was facilitated by the Principal and Teachers of YPPK St. Paulus Elementary School in Soba Village, Obaa District, Mappi Regency. Keywords: Literacy ability, Empowerment of Environmental Potential,counseling

Abstract

This service is carried out under the title of applying Anti-Corruption Education Science and Technology for the LETHO Regional Leadership Council organization, which was carried out on Friday, August 28 2020. Service within the LETHO Regional Leadership Council organization which is an observer of the work of the nation's children and a distributor of aid for disadvantaged areas, the Leadership Council The LETHO area of Jayapura City also oversees a clean and just government. This activity was carried out due to a lack of understanding about Anti-Corruption Education for the LETHO Regional Leadership Council organization due to the ignorance of organizational members who are very vulnerable to corruption, especially within the LETHO Regional Leadership Council in Jayapura City so that they have a better understanding and can take lessons from corruption cases that have occurred. has occurred and can take precautions in the future so that corruption does not continue to grow and become a culture, especially in Papua. The target of this service is an organization, by taking good steps and providing a better understanding of Anti-Corruption Education for the LETHO Regional Leadership Council organization as part of the community has a significant role in prevention efforts and is expected to be an agent of change and is expected to be able to has a character that is not permissive to corruption and subversive actions. Abstract

Lake Sentani is the biggest lowland lake in Papua and the biggest freshwater fish source in Jayapura. The lake has highest endemism and one of freshwater ecosystem conservation priorities in Papua. Lake organisms consist of water plants, mollusks, crustacea and fish. In Lake Sentani, there are 19 species of fish including endemic, native and anadromous and introduced species. This program aims to deliver knowledge on fish species of Lake Sentani and fish species grouping for elementary school students, grade IV to VI of SD Negeri 5 Puay, Puay Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura. Methods used were seminar, training and practice of fish species grouping, drawing a fish and writing its story. Moreover, pre test and post test consist of questions about Lake Sentani fish and its grouping was deliver to measure the level of knowledge of the students before and after the program. Level of knowledge of students on fish of Lake Sentani was evaluated based on the results of pre test and post test. Student knowledge on Lake Sentani fish species were increasing which show by pre test and post test results. Twelve out of 13 (92%) students showed their post test results were increasing and only one student’s test result was decreasing. Eventhough there are more students with good post test result than those who do not, the level of knowledge on Lake Sentani’s fish and its grouping is not fairly distributed among the students. It is shown by the fact that there are 62% or 8 students  that doing poorly on this test. Therefore, various programmes with various teaching methods for students should be desigend to increase knowledge of students on fish species and its grouping in Lake Sentani. Keywords: fish, fish grouping, Lake Sentani, Puay, students

Abstract

Sentani language used by Sentani people in Jayapura Regency is one of 300 local languages in Papua that is not actively used by most Sentani people, especially children. Preservation of Sentani language by teaching it again is needed especially for children so they will not lose their identity. This Community Service is dissemination of a PDUPT research 2017 entitled “Preservation of Sentani Language for Children using Folktales in Jayapura Regency, Papua” founded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Republic of Indonesia. One of the research output is a text book of Sentani language teaching for children. This book is used to teach Sentani Language for children in Sentani Customary School in Hobong, Central Sentani, Jayapura Regency. This activity is an initiative of infusing folktales to teach Sentani language for children. Besides involving children, this activity also involved the teachers of the school. Using folktales children learned (1) pronunciation, (2) vocabularies, (3) clause, (4) simple sentences, and (5) counting system. Folktales were also used to introduce them to Sentani’s socio-culture and as media of character building. Keywords: folktales, preservation, Sentani language

Abstract

The garbage is a problem in human life in the world. The problem of garbage to exists in our environment, due to the production of garbage every day. The production of organic fertilizer requires technology aimed at producing environmentally friendly and good quality organic fertilizer by making a composter kit. The objective of this community service is to introduce the training program for making Composter Kit for organic fertilizer production. This activity was held on September 2020 at SMA Negeri 2 Skanto Keerom. The target audience involved in this activity is high school students. The selection of target audiences is based on the duties and obligations of students to develop Adiwiyata High School that loves the environment. The methods used in this activity are lectures, simulations and practices on making composter kits for organic fertilizer production. The conclusion was that the participants were enthusiastic and knew the results of various organic waste products, both liquid and solid, which were produced by the composter device they made. Based on the results of the evaluation, it shows that the level of participant satisfaction is high when viewed from the percentage of all aspects.
