Abstract

Post-spinal anesthesia nausea and vomiting (PSANV) are common side effects that can affect patient comfort and recovery after surgery. This condition often disrupts the recovery process and may extend the post-operative care period. One non-pharmacological method that can help reduce nausea and vomiting is deep breathing techniques. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of deep breathing techniques in reducing the incidence of nausea and vomiting after spinal anesthesia. The method used in this study is a pre-test and post-test design, with an intervention consisting of deep breathing exercises for patients undergoing surgery with spinal anesthesia. A pre-test was conducted before the intervention to assess the incidence of nausea and vomiting in patients. After patients practiced deep breathing exercises for a certain period, a post-test was performed to evaluate changes in the frequency of nausea and vomiting post-operation. The results showed a significant reduction in the frequency of nausea and vomiting after patients practiced deep breathing techniques. This technique has proven to be a simple, safe, and effective method to enhance post-operative comfort. Therefore, the implementation of deep breathing techniques can be recommended as part of post-spinal anesthesia management in healthcare facilities to improve patient recovery quality.

Abstract

The involvement of church members in political life is a form of religious responsibility that must be rooted in Christian values. This community service activity was designed to enhance the political literacy of the GBIS Kristus Gembala Alastuwo Karanganyar congregation in preparation for the Simultaneous Regional Elections on November 27, 2024. Conducted over two sessions on November 3 and 10, 2024, the activity employed interactive discussions, lectures, and Biblical reflections that connect Christian values with political participation. Key themes included justice, honesty, servant leadership, and the rejection of money politics. The participants were also invited to reflect on the implementation of the regional elections held on December 8, 2024, as part of their learning process. The results show that the congregation's political awareness improved significantly. Members expressed a deeper understanding of the importance of electing trustworthy leaders who uphold integrity and public service. Furthermore, they demonstrated the courage to reject practices of money politics, indicating the internalization of Christian values in their civic decisions. By exploring democracy through the lens of faith, the congregation developed a more critical, wise, and responsible approach to voting. This initiative highlights the strategic role of the Church in shaping the political awareness of its members through ongoing political education grounded in Christian teachings. Continued efforts are essential to ensure that the congregation remains active in promoting moral leadership and societal transformation, beginning within the church community itself. Ultimately, churches can serve as centers for ethical political formation, equipping believers to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Abstract

Penarukan Village, located in Tabanan Regency, is predominantly inhabited by communities engaged in freshwater fish farming, particularly Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The high demand for Nile tilapia in Tabanan and surrounding areas poses a challenge for farmers to manage the growth and development of the fish to ensure optimal quality. During the cultivation process, various issues arise that require effective solutions to support the sustainability of this sector. One of the main problems faced by fish farmers is related to the quality of biofloc pond water, which is still monitored using conventional methods. Poor water quality that does not meet the optimal living standards for Nile tilapia can hinder growth, reduce fish health, and negatively impact production yield. Manual monitoring methods are also prone to inaccuracy and complicate the data analysis process needed for effective decision-making.To address this issue, a technology-based solution has been proposed in the form of a real-time monitoring system using the “SI-NILA” mobile application integrated with a microcontroller-based Internet of Things (IoT) system. This system allows for continuous monitoring of pond water quality and automated pH control to maintain suitable conditions for fish growth. This innovation is expected to improve efficiency and effectiveness in fish farming practices, minimize the risk of crop failure, and promote the digital transformation of aquaculture in Penarukan Village, contributing to the sustainable development of the freshwater aquaculture sector.

Abstract

Recently, the public has been shocked by the high number of bad debts among Millennials. The development of digital technology brings various conveniences, but also presents new threats to children and teenagers. The high percentage of online loan borrowers aged 19-34 years, as well as children who are caught in online gambling, is a major concern. Around 60 percent of online loan users (pinjol) have an easy target of young people aged 19-34 years, and even 80 thousand children under the age of 10 are caught in online gambling (judol). The problem is, the Millennial generation or those aged 19-34 years are the largest "contributors" to these bad debts. Various experts say that the Millennial generation is in debt because of the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon, aka following trends so as not to feel "left behind". Some other experts think that their financial literacy is low.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to provide spiritual and pastoral education to the congregation of Gereja Kristus Ketapang Pos Kelapa Gading in addressing the challenges of addiction in the modern era. Addiction is not merely related to technology or substance abuse, but reflects deeper issues of the heart, identity, and life direction. This activity employed a communicative and contextual lecture approach, with an emphasis on biblical values based on Ephesians 5:1–3 and Philippians 4:8–9. God's Word calls believers to live in love, purity, and self-control, directing their minds toward things that are noble and uplifting. The program also highlighted the importance of spiritual disciplines, involvement in healthy communities, and a lifestyle that reflects Christ's love. The church is expected to serve as a place of healing rather than judgment and to actively provide education and guidance that empowers the congregation. The outcome of this activity showed a positive response from participants, marked by personal reflection and renewed commitment to live out Christian values in everyday life.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental phase often marked by a lack of responsibility, which can lead to negative behaviors such as juvenile delinquency and promiscuity. Therefore, developing a responsible character in adolescents is essential to guide them toward positive behavior. One effective approach is through life skills education implemented in the local village (gampong) environment. This community service initiative aims to instill a sense of responsibility in adolescents by involving them in the planting and maintenance of family medicinal plants (TOGA). Through this activity, adolescents are expected to develop care, discipline, and responsibility, which are reflected in their commitment to nurturing the plants. The activity was implemented in Gampong Cot Alue, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar, and carried out over two days, from February 14 to 15, 2025. The method used in the planning and execution of the TOGA planting involved five stages: (1) creating an activity plan, (2) preparing tools and materials, (3) preparing the planting area, (4) plant nurseries, and (5) creating plant identification markers. These stages were designed to introduce a structured approach to life skills and community engagement. The outcomes of the program demonstrated an increase in adolescents' awareness and understanding of the importance of TOGA. Additionally, there was a noticeable improvement in their sense of responsibility and participation in daily activities beyond school. The broader community, particularly the youth, gained valuable knowledge about the benefits of TOGA for disease prevention, treatment, and health maintenance, contributing to a healthier and more proactive lifestyle within the village environment.

Abstract

Sustainable development requires a superior generation that not only has technical knowledge, but also soft skills to face increasingly complex global challenges. Soft skills include abilities such as communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, creativity, and work ethics, which are very important in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. A superior generation with good mastery of soft skills is able to become innovative and competitive agents of change, while contributing to creating social, economic and environmental balance. This research highlights the importance of integrating soft skills development in education and training systems, both formal and non-formal, as a strategy to build the capacity of the younger generation. A holistic approach is needed, involving collaboration between the government, educational institutions, community organizations and the private sector in creating a learning environment that supports the strengthening of soft skills. Through experiential learning, leadership training, and character development programs, young people can develop their potential in line with the needs of the world of work and the demands of sustainability. Research results show that generations who excel in soft skills have a greater ability to adapt to change, work in cross-cultural teams, and create innovative solutions to problems
