Abstract

This study aimed to determine working mothers' behavior in exclusive breastfeeding in the Bulili Health Center Work Area, South Palu District. The research method applied qualitative with a case study approach. The research informants were 13, determined by the purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the predisposing factors with knowledge and attitude variables were still limited; the informants did not know the exact meaning of exclusive breastfeeding, the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, and the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Supporting factors with health facilities infrastructure and facilities at work variable are not yet available optimally. While the family support variable can be said to be lacking, this is influenced by the lack of family knowledge regarding exclusive breastfeeding. The definition of exclusive breastfeeding is still relatively low also about attitudes, even due to the lack of knowledge, facilities, and infrastructure that support exclusive breastfeeding, such as lactation rooms; in this study, the support provided by the family is still relatively low

Abstract

The Kawua Health Center is one of the health centers in Poso Regency with the highest rabies-transmitting animal (RTA) bite cases in 2019 and is very disturbing to the community. Bites of Rabies Transmitting Animals (RTA) are risky for transmitting the rabies virus to humans, so an effective and efficient response is needed. The purpose of the study was to obtain information on the behavior of handling Rabies Transmitting Animal Bites in the working area of the Kawua Health Center, Poso Regency. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews involving 15 research informants determined by the purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the informants' knowledge was still not good regarding rabies, both in terms of prevention and control of RTA bites. The attitude of the informant was not good in carrying out first aid measures and prevention efforts before RTA bites occurred. Also, the role of health workers was not good in preventing and controlling rabies cases in the working area of the Kawua Health Center. Families play an important role in controlling rabies by providing informational, emotional, and instrumental support. It is recommended for the Kawua Health Center staff to improve the prevention and control of RTA bites cases further

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship of economic status, infectious diseases, and Urinary Iodine Excretion (UIE) with the incidence of stunting in elementary school children in IDD endemic areas, Enrekang Regency. This research was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. Subjects in this study were taken by purposive sampling as many as 100 children aged 6-12 years. Research data were collected using a questionnaire, microtoise, and UIE Lab Test and then processed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the proportion of stunting was 72.2% and normal was 28.0%, the low family economy was 82.0%, infectious disease was 79.0%, and low urinary iodine deficiency was 21.0%. The chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between economic status (p=0.045) and infectious diseases (p=0.012) with the incidence of stunting, but there was no relationship between UIE and stunting (p=1,000). The economic status of parents and a history of infectious diseases contribute to the incidence of stunting. Modification of parents' crops by harvesting crops in a short time is recommended to increase family income and increasing children's healthy and clean behaviour is considered necessary to prevent infectious diseases.

Abstract

Eel fish (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard) on Silver eel phase contains unsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6, EPA, DHA and vitamin A which is known to overcome various functions of body tissues. The high content of fatty acids will facilitate oxidation, making it difficult for storage and causing rancidity, thus creating a new innovation such as being formulated into cream. This study aims to formulate the silver eel (Anguilla marmorata (Q.) Gaimard.) Oil extracts in the form of cream dosage preparations and evaluates the cream dosage using physical test parameters to maintain the quality of the cream produced. This study used laboratory experimental methods and the cream formulations were made in 4 formulas, they are F0, F1, F2 and F3 with the respective concentrations of stearic acid emulsifier 6%, 8%, 10% and triethanolamine 2%, 2%, and 3.5. %, and F0 as negative controls. The result obtained test showed that the F3 positive control cream preparation met the organoleptic requirements, the result of homogeneity test was homogeneous and there were mo coarse particles, the dispersion of the cream was 6.87 cm (5-7 cm), adhesion of the cream was 4.21 seconds (>4 seconds), cream pH was 6.25 (4.5-6.5). The F3 formula gave a significant value to the characteristics of the cream

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the causes of high morbidity and mortality, especially in toddlers. The study purpose was to determine the susceptibility of ARI among children under five in these locations by considering the physical condition of houses (ventilation, density of occupancy, types of floors and walls). This research uses an ecological study with a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach. The research population in Talise health centre was 622 toddlers (sample 86) and Singgani health center was 1,167 toddlers (sample 93), samples were taken by Proportional Stratified Random Sampling based on the number of cases in each urban village in the study area. The results showed both of Talise and Singgani health centers the physical aspect of the houses was not associated with the incidence of ARI in children under five. Ventilation area with ρ-values 0.77 and 1.00, density with ρ-values 0.77 and 1.00, floor types with ρ-values 0.33 and 0.37, and wall types with ρ-values 0.75 and 1.00. Based on the results of the mapping at the two locations, it was found that the most vulnerable locations to ARI in infants with the highest number of vulnerable from all aspects of the physical condition of the house including ventilation area, occupancy density, type of floor, and type of wall were in the working area of the Singgani Health Center
