Abstract

Stunting in toddlers is a significant health problem in Indonesia, with a prevalence reaching 24.4% in 2021. Although in Wanajaya Village, stunting cases have been successfully reduced to 0%, the problem of malnutrition in children is still common. Good nutritional status is very important for the growth and development of children, especially toddlers, who need a balanced nutritional intake. One solution to increase children's nutritional intake is to utilize fruits as part of their daily diet. However, children often prefer sweet foods to fresh fruit. This study aims to introduce the manufacture of gummy candy from real fruit juice as an alternative healthy snack that can increase fruit consumption in children. By replacing sugar with honey, this gummy candy provides nutritional benefits without damaging dental health or triggering sugar addiction. The training held in Wanajaya Village aims to increase parental awareness of the importance of fruit consumption and provide skills in making healthy snacks. It is hoped that this training can help parents in overcoming children's nutritional problems and encourage better fruit consumption.

Abstract

The Higher Order Thinking Skills workshop was conducted at SDN Muktijaya 03, Setu District, Bekasi Regency, as an effort to enhance students’ creativity and critical thinking through strengthening teacher competencies. The main issue addressed was the limited understanding of teachers in designing learning activities that stimulate higher-order thinking, resulting in classroom practices that often emphasize memorization and basic skills. The implementation method consisted of three stages, namely the introduction of higher-order thinking concepts, training in the development of higher-order thinking–based questions, and implementation and evaluation using the interactive Wordwall platform. Throughout the training, teachers were guided to design questions that foster analysis, evaluation, and creation, while also integrating instructional strategies suited to different learning styles. The results revealed a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding of higher-order thinking and their ability to construct relevant questions, although challenges remained regarding time allocation and the complexity of question design. The evaluation further demonstrated that the use of higher-order thinking–based questions increased student engagement in the learning process and encouraged the development of creativity and critical thinking. The conclusion of this program highlights that the workshop proved effective in strengthening teachers’ pedagogical understanding and provided alternative technology-based learning strategies, making it highly relevant to be applied sustainably in order to support the quality of education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Traditional sports are the result of the creativity, expression, and values of society that have been passed down through generations as part of cultural heritage. One of the traditional sports still recognized in Indonesia is egrang, a game that emphasizes concentration, balance, agility, and physical endurance to cover a predetermined distance. Each step in the game requires players to maintain their balance in order to move forward without falling, and then return to the starting point to earn points. The educational values embedded in egrang make it not only a recreational activity but also a medium for character building, especially among children. However, with the rapid development of modern lifestyles, young people’s interest in traditional sports has significantly declined, creating an urgent need for revitalization efforts to ensure their preservation. This community service program was implemented in Ragemanunggal Village, Setu Subdistrict, as an effort to promote and revitalize the traditional sport of egrang among children. The program was designed through socialization, hands-on training, and continuous mentoring to foster children’s interest and skills in playing egrang. Moreover, the active involvement of children is expected to strengthen their appreciation of local culture while cultivating sportsmanship, togetherness, and self-confidence. The results indicated strong enthusiasm from the participants as well as improvements in basic egrang playing skills. Therefore, the preservation of traditional sports can be effectively achieved through early introduction, while also contributing positively to children’s character development and the safeguarding of cultural heritage.

Abstract

The development of Islamic character among children in Al-Qur’an Education Parks (TPA) remains a crucial challenge, particularly in optimizing character formation aligned with Islamic values. This community service project aims to strengthen the Islamic character of children at TPA Sindang Mulya Village through a structured mentoring program supported by additional educational approaches. The methods applied include mentoring activities combined with demonstration, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor strategies, all designed to foster holistic character development. The program was implemented for 30 days at TPA Sindang Mulya, with participants consisting of children actively enrolled in the TPA program. The findings indicate a significant improvement in children’s Islamic character, particularly in the aspects of honesty, politeness, and discipline. Mentoring proved to be effective in shaping attitudes and behaviors consistent with Islamic values while also enhancing the learning experience in both religious and social contexts. Furthermore, the structured combination of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor approaches allowed the children to internalize values more effectively and apply them in daily interactions. In conclusion, this community service demonstrates that mentoring programs can serve as an effective strategy for character building in TPA settings. Therefore, similar initiatives should be sustained and expanded to other communities to achieve broader impacts.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented in Rawa Makmur Village, Samarinda City, with a focus on improving political literacy and strengthening the social capacity of the fishing community. The activities used participatory methods through socialization, political literacy training, digital literacy, and community leadership combined with interactive lectures and group discussions. The program was held on September 11, 2025, and was attended by 50 participants from five fishing groups. The pre-test results showed that residents had a low understanding of democratic principles, the function of elections, and political rights, while the post-test results showed a significant improvement in these aspects. In addition, the active involvement of women and youth groups in the discussions marked the expansion of more inclusive political participation. Learning media in the form of printed modules, short videos, and community forums proved effective in facilitating the education process. This activity not only increased residents' political knowledge but also encouraged the creation of communication forums among fishermen as a platform for public policy advocacy. Thus, this program shows that community-based political education can be an effective strategy for strengthening participatory and sustainable local democracy.
